What have you got your kids for Easter?

Just that really. I’ve bought my DS (8) some eggs and a gingerbread decorate bunny kit, and some mini eggs cakes.

already seen posts on social media overloaded with clothes and toys and somewhat Christmas hauls.

feeling a bit deflated - should I have got more? For context we are away for the weekend at a caravan so there’s a fun Easter Sunday planned for him with onsite activities

What have you got your kids?

One Easter egg.

TellMeWhatToWear · 05/04/2026 00:49

No, you absolutely should not have got more! Eggs, cakes, and you’re away somewhere with activities! Step away from social media…

Mine got a toy (started this tradition because of the ridiculous amount of chocolate they got one year, I preferred not to add to it). Normally that would be it, but our traditional Easter egg hunt location was cancelled, so I’ve brought some small eggs (which I figure add up to about the size of one large egg) to hide round the garden for a hunt.

Mine have two chocolate animals each because I forgot about the first lot I got! And some different flavoured hot cross buns for breakfast.

Scooter, leggings, book, milkybar bunny and bubbles

want / wear / read / eat / fun 🐰

toffeeappleturnip · 05/04/2026 00:54

An Easter Egg.

Going to make cornflake cake nests tomorrow too with crispy m&m's for the eggs instead of the outrageously pricey mini eggs.

Needspaceforlego · 05/04/2026 00:56

An egg I've been inconsistent with toys for easter so trying to drop that idea

sunflowerdaisies · 05/04/2026 00:58

An Easter egg and some small eggs to hide for a hunt. They also get 4 eggs from grandparents and aunts.

VivienneDelacroix · 05/04/2026 00:59

An chocolate egg each.
They'll also get one from my parents.

TiredofLDN · 05/04/2026 01:02

A medium sized egg from me, and another from exDH.
A couple of bags of small eggs for an egg hunt around the house (no garden)

Tomorrow we’ll have a roast chicken and go to the park, and play games at home.

it’s a nice family day but that’s it (I’m lapsed Catholic- if I still practiced the faith it would be more)

Youreoneofakind · 05/04/2026 01:06

Chocolate eggs and nice family dinner is the plan. They’re older teens so don’t do the egg hunt these days.

Starseeking · 05/04/2026 01:08

1 Easter egg each

likewhatyoudo · 05/04/2026 01:09

Fruit - as good and interesting as i can find. Plus hot cross buns, and a few chocolate eggs.
DDs 14 and 16 no longer want to eat lots of chocolate — they prefer this.

BeBesideTheSea · 05/04/2026 01:11

1 chocolate egg (medium-sized).
We have also eaten dozens of hot cross buns over the past few weeks.

Inthenameoflove · 05/04/2026 01:12

One Easter egg.
They will also do an Easter egg hunt with cousins later in the school holidays. That’s it.

Inthenameoflove · 05/04/2026 01:14

I’ve honestly never heard of anyone buying actual presents.

Ozmumofboys3 · 05/04/2026 01:16

We do an Easter basket for each kid. Contains an egg, a bunny, some easter themed sweets and an assortment of mini eggs shared amongst them.

ThatJadeLion · 05/04/2026 01:17

Three Nintendo switch games and lots of eggs 🤭 in hiding now!! 🙈

LostMySocks · 05/04/2026 01:19

Medium egg each plus some smaller ones and chocolate for an egg hunt. Thought they might be too old at 12 and 10 but were horrified at the thought of not having one. Hunt is a mix of small eggs for a communal bowl and a couple of bigger small eggs/Alfie bunnies as their own stash. We are a chocolate loving house and it's mostly shared after meals for a good few weeks.
No other presents.

Shhush · 05/04/2026 01:21

1 easter egg.

summerday25 · 05/04/2026 01:23

One large ‘ish’ Easter egg and a few chocolate based bits for an egg hunt. It’s Easter, we’re not religious so probably more than we should anyway. Definitely not anything like Christmas.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/04/2026 01:25

Mine (adults) have a couple of Easter Eggs each ( about a £4ish one and a smaller one )

I remember last year someone mentioned new clothes aka "A New Rig Out" which caused lots of "Eh"?

RigOut is definitely a phrase my Glaswegian Dad and Aunt used .

caz123456 · 05/04/2026 01:27

1 Easter egg

Snoopy51 · 05/04/2026 01:28

Easter egg each and tickets for Gladiators live tour!

ThatSilhouette · 05/04/2026 01:28

Our children are teens and young adults and we have bought then a few big eggs and then some other smaller bits like mini eggs, Lindt bunny, chocolate orange, pack of crème eggs etc.

We also get them a gift each so this year one has trainers and the other has a jacket and they’ve both got some cash.
