What have you got your kids for Easter?

Just that really. I’ve bought my DS (8) some eggs and a gingerbread decorate bunny kit, and some mini eggs cakes.

already seen posts on social media overloaded with clothes and toys and somewhat Christmas hauls.

feeling a bit deflated - should I have got more? For context we are away for the weekend at a caravan so there’s a fun Easter Sunday planned for him with onsite activities

What have you got your kids?

One Easter egg each. We’re visiting a relative tomorrow who has also got them an egg each and in laws sent them £15 each. They’ll be more than happy with that.

Eenameenadeeka · 05/04/2026 05:52

They each got a mug with an egg in it, and a chocolate bunny, and then there were a few packets of the little ones to hide around the house for an egg hunt. What you have sounds great, and especially enjoying a weekend away.

An Easter egg. He's having an egg hunt with a friend on Tuesday.

Nothing at all.

Family members have given them eggs, and clothes (of which we already have too many).

They are getting treated to a lot of days out during the school holidays though.

VanQueefApples · 05/04/2026 06:51

one medium Lindt bunny.

OhBettyCalmDown · 05/04/2026 06:58

One Easter Egg, not a giant one either. Just one egg, no hunt or activities, no special dinner or events. Don’t get caught up with what others are doing. Just do what works for you

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 05/04/2026 07:01

One egg and some mini eggs to look for.

angelopal · 05/04/2026 07:03

Nothing as we are going on holiday today. They have got eggs from grandparents which is more than enough.

AgnesMcDoo · 05/04/2026 07:05

Easter eggs. That’s it. It’s not Christmas

GolfingGoddess · 05/04/2026 07:07

Mine have quite a lot of gifts - mostly craft stuff and spring projects like seeds to plant, and I think my son has a switch game and my daughter has a Disney doll. None of them are from me! I suggested they didn’t really need a lot of chocolate to our family, thinking they’d get small eggs or nothing, but they went for gifts instead. We’ve hidden them around the house as an “Easter egg hunt”, but I think it’s a bit much really.

Elpheba · 05/04/2026 07:13

Two books and a chocolate egg to open at breakfast from us (you have to have chocolate for breakfast on Easter Sunday!). They’ll have an egg hunt with cousins later today and I know their grandparents have bought them all Easter themed presents- cuddly toy, stationery, some Easter craft which they’ll find along the hunt. It gives them joy to hide it and all the kids joy to find it so everyone is happy!

ZenNudist · 05/04/2026 07:17

I've bought mine the packets of mini filled eggs and I'm trying to get dh to chat gpt an egg hunt.

ILs will buy big eggs and maybe give cash and have bought eldest trainers but thats because we are going away abroad and his feet are huge and his tastes are expensive

My DPs gave £20 cash each and have always given gifts, often a t-shirt as they think the dc get too much chocolate.

I did buy extra food treats for today.

Easter isn't Christmas for gift levels. I'd judge anyone who bought a haul!

TorroFerney · 05/04/2026 07:18

A marks pretzel egg from us, Easter egg from godmother, £20 from paternal grandad , nothing from maternal grandma (thanks mum).

TheBlueKoala · 05/04/2026 07:19

@Thingscouldntgetanyworse I got them nothing because with Mil and uncles etc they will have too much chocolate already.

Added: this is not le being stingy- I did get Mil and uncles chocolate- I just don't want the kids to have too much chocolate

BeMellowAquaSquid · 05/04/2026 07:20

1 Easter egg each or a book instead was the option I gave my 19,15 and 14 year olds. They chose an egg. My dd is working for a company today that has the Easter bunny come to the door. The company has 200 visits booked in at £30 each. Some people have more money than sense.

Medium egg each plus some smaller ones and chocolate for an egg hunt. Thought they might be too old at 12 and 10 but were horrified at the thought of not having one. Hunt is a mix of small eggs for a communal bowl and a couple of bigger small eggs/Alfie bunnies as their own stash. We are a chocolate loving house and it's mostly shared after meals for a good few weeks.
No other presents.

My dc are 25 & 20 - they still insist on an egg hunt every year and we now have their partners doing it too!
The only difference is we then watch a film, have a few beers etc afterwards 😂

pilates · 05/04/2026 07:21

Op, what you have got is fine.

Gorbie · 05/04/2026 07:24

They each have, 1 tin of easter munch mix from aldi, I small egg and a chocolate bunny x

ThatInbetweenBigCoatAndJacketWeather · 05/04/2026 07:25

IloveJonBonJovi · 05/04/2026 00:47

One Easter egg.

Us too.

JumpinJellyfish · 05/04/2026 07:27

Never heard of anyone giving/receiving toys at Easter - makes no sense at all and totally needless consumerism.

As a kid (Catholic) it was common to get new “Easter clothes” to wear to mass on Easter Sunday, but since we are non practising I don’t do this for my kids. We normally get them an egg but they did a hunt yesterday and got so much chocolate from that we didn’t bother.

greengreengrass3 · 05/04/2026 07:28

No children of my own here but buy for my three nieces, they’ve all had a gift about £30 scooter, Lego, Lego and a Lindt bunny each.

Heraldry · 05/04/2026 07:28

Mine had a small tin rabbit each to hunt for, filled with mini sized eggs, we do this each year. They also got an egg from church (church gives them to all the school children at the school), and a Malteser bunny from their teacher. They’ll have some each afternoon for the next week. Social media is the thief of contentment if you let it.

DHchangingjobs · 05/04/2026 07:28

An Easter egg and some Easter coins, a few small eggs for a hunt

Hohumitsreallyallthereis · 05/04/2026 07:30

People buy presents for Easter?!

Chocolate eggs is what my kids get, they love the hunt.

littlepeanutbrittle76 · 05/04/2026 07:31

Mine are 21 and 26 and this is the first year I've not bought eggs. I broke the news to them yesterday and they survived lol. But we always have chocolate in the house and dp's mum bought us all an egg (even though we asked her not too as there are now 4 children plus partners, 7 grand children plus partners and 11 great grand children to buy for). When they were little I'd be throwing away childcare eggs at Christmas they'd receive so many! Exdp's mum would also buy gifts and give money.
