What have you got your kids for Easter?

Just that really. I’ve bought my DS (8) some eggs and a gingerbread decorate bunny kit, and some mini eggs cakes.

already seen posts on social media overloaded with clothes and toys and somewhat Christmas hauls.

feeling a bit deflated - should I have got more? For context we are away for the weekend at a caravan so there’s a fun Easter Sunday planned for him with onsite activities

Agree with @Apprenticeoruni
it's very very naff.

“Lower class families”?!? FML.

@SaintHildegard whether you like it or not, socioeconomic classes do exist.

Absolutely nothing from us. He’s 15 months old and doesn’t care! My mum got him an Easter Peter Rabbit book and some mini vegan chocolate eggs and he might get a nibble of those later. But it’s never been something we celebrate other than eating chocolate anyway.

I've brought my daughter three tonies I was going to get them anyway but used Easter as an opportunity instead of chocolate. And a small egg (£2.50 Thornton's size from Asda)

She's got a couple of craft gifts from aunties

A little egg (the £1.50 size) from her grandma.

That's plenty imo.

teenagedirtbag1990 · 05/04/2026 14:57

One Easter egg and some craft bits

RoyalImpatience · 05/04/2026 15:00

I used present and Easter bunny basket all nicely done and some clothes like dressing up or a book or game.

This year both teens just a couple of eggs

Chipsahoy · 05/04/2026 15:01

We do an Easter egg hunt with plastic eggs I bought when my oldest was 3. He’s 18 now. We fill them with little chocolates. They also get to find two bigger items, so an egg and usually some other Easter treat. We’ve never done anything else. My oldest still adores the Easter egg hunt. We have a small holding so it takes them an hour or so to find them. It’s never been about anything but sweet treats for us.

Grandkids here - 4 and 13 and I got a few bags of the mini eggs from Lidl for the little one to have an egg hunt and they both got a small egg.

Why would you think you should have got more? Don't be pressurised to keep up with the Jones's. They're probably deep in debt!!!!

Yep. Naff…and all for the ‘gram.

SugarPuffSandwiches · 05/04/2026 16:40

An Easter egg.

ShiftySquirrel · 05/04/2026 19:54

Teen DCs here, one egg each - for which they had to follow clues. They rolled their eyes 😆.

Family meal and games outside. It's been lovely.

hollytheheroic · 05/04/2026 19:57

This turns up every year. Mine got a Freddo egg each 🤣 the people trying to turn Easter into Christmas are bonkers.

MummySleepDeprived · 05/04/2026 19:59

Egg and some stuff from The Range- an artist easel (just a bigger clip board), some scratch art dinosaurs, a little canvas dino bag to colour, a pencil case, a multi pen and some stickers. A tenner plus whatever the egg cost.

fartoomuchtoblerone · 05/04/2026 20:00

Fucks sake, mine got an Easter egg and a roast dinner and were delighted. We don’t need any more reasons to buy them more shit they don’t need.

WhatNextImScared · 05/04/2026 20:01

A couple of eggs. Easter isn’t a thing in our house. We’re not religious. I grew up with it being as big as Xmas day as a family event, hours in church and huge meal my mum slaved over, and that’s not something I want to be part of now.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 05/04/2026 20:02

A giant soft toy rabbit think about 1m tall. A box of pistachio Lindt, a bunny sweetie jar , a big box of Ferrero Rocher, a box of Guylian, A pkt of Buenos, a small Cadbury button egg and a small Fredo egg for both Dds.
Yes we are proper chavs or perhaps we just love our Dds very much and are very generous 🤣

Yes, yes, yes!!

Pineapplewaves · 05/04/2026 20:21

2 medium Easter Eggs, a box of 5 creme eggs and a small Easter themed Lego set. DC got £10.00 from Gran instead of an egg.

Photobot · 05/04/2026 20:26

An Easter egg and some of those mini ones on the hunt. Their aunt got them a cheapy Easter craft and some chocolate and DH's mum gave them 20 quid each.

And a roast dinner.

Why would you get gifts?!

TheWelshposter · 05/04/2026 20:35

Crunchymum · 05/04/2026 08:53

I've got mine absolutely nothing.

We'll have a roast today (similar to Christmas in terms of fancy-ness) and there are chocolate melting pots and ice-cream for dessert for the kids.

My dad got them all an egg each and that's it.

Easter isn't a big thing to us, and no amount of insta posts / tat in supermarkets / keeping up with the Jones' will convince me otherwise.

Kids are teen, pre-teen and tween so it's unlikely to change for us now.

Same for Halloween. We watch a film / have some popcorn - job done.

Love a bit of Christmas and we celebrate Birthdays etc but we just aren't extravagant about it.

Edited to add I've bought a load of craft stuff for them all (not Easter related) and youngest has a new geometric sticker book which is keeping her busy. I'm not against fun activities, but we just don't "do" the big days like other people seem to.

Edited

Same here. We are low-key and it works for us on these big occasions...less stress, less clutter, less wasted money. Just good food and relaxation.

fouroclockrock · 05/04/2026 20:41

I can’t believe that’s all you got them.
Not really. Isn’t 1 egg more sensible?

AndresyFiorella · 05/04/2026 20:42

One Easter Egg

JillyGiraffe · 05/04/2026 20:42

An Easter egg hunt, Easter themed book and a sheet of stickers.

rainbowsandraspberrygin · 05/04/2026 20:53

1 large egg each (although i would query the word large and think it’s more the size of a a medium - 1 hollow egg and 1 bar), small bag of mini eggs.

we’ve also got hot cross buns in the house but that’s for all of us.

I do find it a little strange that people buy actual gifts as though it’s a mini (or not based on gifts!!) Christmas!!

we don’t need loads of chocolate in the house or money spent of stuff.

we had pizza for lunch with some salad - couldn’t be bothered with a roast!
