Iran has already responded sending missiles towards Israel (Dimona, Jerusalem, Haifa), Bahrain and Jordan.

Trump openly stating this is a regime change War, means that Iran will act like it's existential.

That awful regime in Iran has to be changed. But why didn't they do it when those protests happened a few weeks ago.

Heard that on the radio. My exact words to dh was ‘That doesn’t sound good’.

At the time of those protests the US had nothing like enough in the way of military assets in the region to realistically try and force a change.

As a result they've spent the last month plus shipping/flying an enormous amount of materiel and personnel into the region, moving a least one aircraft group into the area, etc etc...

Trump is expecting the Iranians to overthrow the government themselves. FFS.

Aside from how strongly I feel against the action the US and Israel are taking, and my disgust about what has happened in Gaza, my daughter is in Jordan at the moment for Ramadan 😞

The Shah's son has now encouraged the people of Iran to rise up.

There is already footage of the Iranians celebrating the strikes in Tehran.

This isn’t (just) about oil. Along with Venezuela, this is mostly about Trump and his ego. He wants to build the ultimate legacy and be the President that does the things that no other President could or would dare. He genuinely wants that Nobel Peace Prize and will do it by taking down one anti western regime at a time using the might of the US Military while claiming throughout that no one has done more to bring about world peace than he has. Each success plays hugely well to his base at home and reinforces his America first doctrine and the resurgence of America renewed manifest destiny as the no1 global power.

Well the Americans had to "go" now, MAGA is abandoning Trump in droves due to him being seen as Israel First. The Midterms are just over 6 months away and being in an active "War" will hurt Trump.

In fact a recent Gallup poll showed that especially in younger voters are less supportive of Israel.
