US strikes Iran

In conjunction with Israel.
Why? Starting wars has never ever ended well for the US, or for the country they are trying to 'help.'

If Iran was ready to pound on their leaders, they would have done it during the protests crackdown.

@MushMonster How? The leaders and army are well armed and, as we’ve seen, happy to murder unarmed citizens who protest against the regime.

MushMonster · 28/02/2026 12:24

EasternStandard · 28/02/2026 12:12

I think it’s easier to say Iranians can do this alone, their reality is it’s much more difficult.

No, it is not easy. But European countries have lead their political changes. US theirs. Russia theirs. South America. Much of Asia. With alliances and pressures thrown in, but of their internal own choice.
Now, when it comes to Middle East and some parts of Africa, they need "help".
Well, recent history puts a huge question on that help. It seems to closely follow resouces that the "helper" can get their hands on. And it seems to cause problems for the future.

It literally says in that post that I think they can only succeed if the army turns against the leader and the guards loyal to him.

Have you read what is happening to people there?

Lifesd · 28/02/2026 12:27

I am deeply disappointed that the UK is not directly supporting this action. I have many Iranian friends who are applauding this.

Yes, it is in all the papers.

Marshtit · 28/02/2026 12:28

so relieved my 2 dds travelled back via Saudi on Thursday and not today!

Yes, it is in all the papers.

And your conclusion is they can deal with this alone. It’s far too easy to draw that conclusion from the comfort of reading papers in the U.K.

Notonthestairs · 28/02/2026 12:30

Which is exactly our ex ambassador to Iran says.

The Times has set out the Iranian options and an outline of their armoury. Its pretty worrying. I don't think anyone is in a position to guarantee outcomes at the moment.

Sorry = that was supposed to quote MushMonsters post of 12.25.

It's not working out too well yet for Syria though after Assads regime was overthrown, still violence, many people still in dire need of aid, everything is still broken.

Tens of thousands of Iranians have been killed within only a few months.
How many more need to die before the army might decide to turn against the leader?
Many Iranians have been asking for help.

DontKnowWhyIfeelLonely · 28/02/2026 12:32

I'm ashamed that the Brits have no part in liberating the Iranian people from their brutal, evil government.

Keir Starmer is weak, and has relegated us to some small shitty country that no one no longer involves on the global stage.

If you do read my posts my conclusion is:
Not sure at all bombing Iran will do much. Only an inside rise, including the army, sounds feasible to me.
Trump will risk too much on a long term actual war.
Only Iranians have any real saying in who should rule them next. Not a US named person.

I think it is likely that an army uprise is near indeed. They may be missing an organised leadership. Precisely why the Supreme leader has taken control of the internet. But I am positive it will happen. I am not sure it will be this week.

I totally disagree.
For US top leaders to name us as a random country that stays away from the front line and disrespect our army veterans and those who died in duty?
Nope.

dairydebris · 28/02/2026 12:39

I'm optimistic that theres loads going on in the background and the Iranian Army will either turn on the regime or at least declare neutrality asap. Then the US and Israel can take out regime positions asap. Then the people can sweep in and take over. And the Shah can be the figurehead to get behind while a democratic state is set up.
🙏🙏🙏

I agree with you and pray with you.

Bar the Shah son bit. They can choose an interim government that THEY choose. And then aim for a governance that they vote for and they have THEIR say, only.

Okkkkk, couldn’t really give a shit about that when it comes to the freedom of millions of people under an oppressive regime which supports terrorism overseas and which has killed thousands of its own citizens

But I do give a shit about our own being disrespected and Trump destroying NATO, and Trump imposing random tariffs on us, and Trump playing some random game with the peace in Ukraine.

I think the Shah is a link to their Persian history and people rally behind a figurehead.
If theres a credible opposition apparatus to the regime I'm unaware of it...
Your way is best though. Lets hope it can happen.

If the Shah is the one, Iranians will choose him.
I am very concerned about anything being impossed on them.
Let's indeed hope they can find their way to freedom and peace.

And two things can be true at the same time - one can support this action, so wanted by the Iranians and potentially a great thing and deplore a slight by the Americans on the UK armed forces.

Dirtydianaoh · 28/02/2026 13:07

No Britain needs to stay out of it.
