Is anyone else done with Vinted?

I have been a seller for 2.5 years on Vinted, mainly used it for clearing out before I take the charity shop and use the funds to buy things I need in future.
Happy buyers, 5* reviews, I've bought items some fab, some haven't been great but it is what it is.
The past 4ish months it's gone down the pan.
Complete change in sizing which has caused my items listed no be incorrect. Great that you have more opportunity for buyers as they have partnered in USA but which takes forever to get the money due to shipping (you can't turn this option off) and buyers being very fussy, even though you are practically a jumble sale.
I like to sell on Vinted as it's a great way to declutter but it's literally becoming so much more stress than it's worth now.

I haven't been on eBay for about 18years! Is it easy to sell as I remember that being a PITA at the time 😆

I may be using it wrong these days but the sizing is a nightmare. I'm looking for size 10 jeans but I have to slog through all size 8 and 10. Why?!?!

It’s definitely better than it was as a seller.. I can load a dozen items quite quickly these days and the shift to QR codes/postage labels has made it more efficient. For some reason I’ve always found it easier to search for items as a buyer on eBay than Vinted anyway.

I know right?!
It makes me wonder about those that use it to make a profit or full-time income.
Just more hassle as a buyer or seller now.
The recycling concept i get it but I feel the bin or donating is easier.

Yes it used to be really easy to navigate but feels such a chore nowadays with far too many options. I literally just use it for selling things that'll shift like branded clothing or no longer used Yoto cards.

ThirdStorm · 31/01/2026 10:40

As a buyer I’ve adjusted. Brought 7 things last week! All arrived fine, as described and well packed. It is frustrating when searching for size 12 in “M 12-14” as I’ll find items in the wrong size. My feed generally finds size 12 though so I think it’s learning my search choices. It’s even more frustrating where sellers haven’t updated their listings since the size change over and/or don’t say what the actual label size is via the description or a photo. For clothes Vinted it much better (cheaper) than ebay.

Azurearransea · 31/01/2026 10:43

Yes. Deleted all my ‘For Sale’ items last night.

I am sick of numerous ridiculous offers on New with Tags items already priced at only 40% of original price.

But worse are the lying sellers. Describing things as New without Tags when it is clear as soon as they arrive that they are not. Yesterday’s blouse smelt appalling, and was covered in deodorant marks and stains. Totally different to the photos. Add that the seller had delayed posting to the last possible day and had somehow managed to ship using a different method to that payed for. How that seller had hundreds of five star reviews, I will never know.

I AM DONE

Leafywool · 31/01/2026 10:44

I go through phases with Vinted but hadn’t used it since the change in sizes until this week. I find that decision totally bizarre and it’s frustrating as I will generally wear a size 8 or a 6, so I have to trawl through 4 sizes now as I can only select 4-6 and 8-10 🤪 And Sod’s Law of course everything I like is either a 4 or a 10.

I have a huge pile of stuff to list though and I’m glad I’ve started getting round to it and I’ve barely made a dent and made £100 already.

Do you still have to work out postage on eBay? That’s the thing which puts me off using it. I will admit I haven’t searched for anything on eBay for years after using it quite frequently until Vinted came along.

Thundertoast · 31/01/2026 10:50

I've made thousands on Vinted in the last few years (and spent a fair bit too) and I havnt bought or sold anything since the sizing changes, im going to try again now January is out of the way for selling, but as a buyer... the sizing system makes no sense! You end up getting bored of hunting for stuff before you buy anything! Also I have two saved searches that I keep an eye on and have done for probably... 18 months, so i had a pretty good idea of how much was getting uploaded a week, for example, and id estimate that its dropped by at least 70%. Im seeing the same elsewhere too. Their sales have to be through the floor.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 31/01/2026 10:52

I was selling a pair of trousers for £1 (yes a quid) I got a few months ago. They were too big (I have lost a lot of weight and forget my size) and I went past the return date. Anyway, a potential buyer messaged me asking for the waist measurements and pics of me with them on. The trousers are still online for £18.00 so I directed them to the website and said just buy from there. 🙈

I’m a buyer not a seller but I’m finding increasing numbers of strangely sexualised listings. Looking at shoes yesterday and was really put off by quite a scary looking individual modelling a pair of court shoes, multiple photos in weird poses and an odd description.

Then looking at clothes size 12-14 and there’s a very attractive female who is clearly not the usual demographic for this particular brand and she’s more like a size 8. The listing has over 50 likes, other listings for the same brand have 1 or 2.

Are people now using it for purposes other than selling unwanted clothes?

hobbledyhoy · 31/01/2026 11:08

Yeah I can’t be bothered with it anymore, used to buy and sell loads but I don’t have the time to sift through two sizes to find the one I want and half the time it’s not included in posting.

They’ve received a ton of feedback saying this but appear to have ignored it as they are chasing what they see as the lucrative US market. I think it’s a massive mistake and they must be seeing a huge drop in revenue but they seem determined not to change it, or maybe they can’t.

either way, it’s a shame as I used to love it.

Also anyone asking for pics with the item on doesn't sit right with me.
I had it with shoes once...

I used to use eBay about 20 years ago but was so much hassle to list anything with all the postage options but recently I’ve started using it again instead of Vinted. Now it’s much easier and you get a QR code to post via Evri etc. Like a PP mentioned it’s also much easier to search on eBay when buying.

Vinted buyers protection fee is WORTHLESS. You can buy something which is significantly not as described and if the seller agrees to take it back then you have to pay the postage! On low value items it’s just not worth it. At least with eBay the seller must take responsibility for it being not as described and PayPal will give you some protection. Vinted attitude to every dispute is “sort it out between you”.

Also buyers are ridiculous. I was selling a bandau bikini for £2. I was asked if it had much support. My answer was I have very small boobs I don’t know what size other people’s boobs are so can’t say if it’s supportive. I was asked by another person if I could take photos with it on and will I accept £1.50. At that point I got so annoyed I delisted it and binned it.

crazeekat · 31/01/2026 11:14

I absolutely loved vinted till they changed the sizes. Now can’t trust anything, have to search for an age when it took seconds before. It’s all so wrong. Don’t get clothes anymore which a shame as I loved it.
however don’t use eBay hardly anymore either,
such a shame

try being a 10-12 dependent on different brands - the only option is to click 8-10 AND 12-14 so you have to wade through 4 different (and the most common!) sizes. Plus half the sellers still haven't worked out that vinted has changed so don't even put the size anywhere in the description.

I agree OP, I've withdrawn my money from my balance and deleted the app for now.

Their customer service is rubbish too.

Thepuzzledlady · 31/01/2026 11:18

Yes! I listed lots of items before Christmas and I’m fed up of people offering less than half price. I have a brand new with tags Monsoon velvet dress up which was £90 nee, and I had an inbox message offering me £8! I was listing for £25. I think I need to switch all to eBay.

I sell on vinted over 700 reviews...nobody from america has bought my stuff yet thankfully.

Ebay is hood because of their global shipping programme but overall sales on there are sloooow.

I do prefer ebay if you have something specialist or designer to sell.

The ebay app is not as iser friendly as vinted.

Agree. The new without tags thing is a joke. Often when you look in the description it will even say ‘only worn a couple of times’. IT’S NOT EFFING NEW THEN, IS IT? If something says new without tags, I reckon the most they should have done is try it on, maybe wandered round the house in it for a few minutes. Not worn it to Auntie Mabel’s for afternoon tea. I do think some sellers are being a bit disingenuous though and claiming it is new without tags because they bought it on Vinted themselves (and don’t want it) and it’s therefore new to them.

Goldenphoenix · 31/01/2026 11:20

I used to love buying from Vinted but hate it since they made the sizing change. I felt so strongly about it I sent them feedback (as did lots of other people I think!). They are blithely ignoring all feedback about the sizing change and now I don't use Vinted anymore. Ebay must be rubbing their hands in glee at Vinted's self sabotaging move!

TeaRoseTallulah · 31/01/2026 11:21

I only ever bought from Vinted but am completely done. The absolute shite that is being sold as new with tags is shocking. Also a size 16 does not mean something you've bought, shrunk and is now a size 12 ffs even though the label still says 16 ffs!

ContentedAlpaca · 31/01/2026 11:25

I used to buy 3-4 things per month. I've bought 1 item since the sizing changes.

MynameisJune · 31/01/2026 11:28

Everything is listed as new without tags now, because sellers know that people search for with those as filters. And then to read the listing and it says ‘only worn once’ drives me up the wall. It’s not fucking new if you’ve worn it!!

The change in sizing, the American input, the amount of fakes bought on Hacoo and DH Gate and then sold as real on Vinted in obscene. And they do nothing about it when you report the seller. Not just shoes but clothes brands like Sezane, Sandro and Maje are rife.

I bought a hoodie for one of my kids the other week. Described as very good condition, it came and it was faded in colour and had 5 holes in on the sleeves and the hood. Seller claimed they didn’t know and offered me £3 off the price. Which I declined because I’d have never bought it had I known.

If I’ve got designer stuff to sell I either go to eBay or Vestiaire now. You have more protection than Vinted. I don’t buy or sell anything more than £20 on Vinted now.

CointreauVersial · 31/01/2026 11:29

Ebay is so much easier since they introduced the "simple delivery" option - buyer pays, like with Vinted. There are AI-generated descriptions too. Once you are in the swing of listing it is dead simple. I did try Vinted, but couldn't cope with all the bargaining and lowball offers, and their customer service is shocking. As I buyer I prefer eBay too, as it is so much easier to filter to what you want.

I also heard you now have to send everything on Vinted (including clothing) in padded packaging, or the buyer can immediately claim their money back. Crazy.
