I have been a seller for 2.5 years on Vinted, mainly used it for clearing out before I take the charity shop and use the funds to buy things I need in future.
Happy buyers, 5* reviews, I've bought items some fab, some haven't been great but it is what it is.
The past 4ish months it's gone down the pan.
Complete change in sizing which has caused my items listed no be incorrect. Great that you have more opportunity for buyers as they have partnered in USA but which takes forever to get the money due to shipping (you can't turn this option off) and buyers being very fussy, even though you are practically a jumble sale.
I like to sell on Vinted as it's a great way to declutter but it's literally becoming so much more stress than it's worth now.

Just posted this on another thread...

I'm sad that people are so aggressive when communicating on Vinted. I've bought and sold 100's of items on vinted and until recently, had no issues at all. Sold a fairly expensive leather handbag recently- perfect condition, dust-bag included, etc; buyer received it and said it was damaged -covered in scuff marks and had ink stains inside - and took photos, which I think were done using AI? I asked how they'd like to resolve it and they said they'd accept the bag for £10, as that's all it was worth! When I asked them to send it back (stupidly, at my cost - as I was mortified there may have been issues that I hadn't noticed...) I got a barrage of abuse about time wasting, scam artist, conning people, etc! It was so hostile and awful, I couldn't quite believe it. I did get the handbag back, but I really worried picking it up in case they'd done something to the package for me to find on collection...

I also sold a top that the buyer said in a message that they didn't like as "it wasn't what I thought..." and said they didn't think the photos showed the colour correctly (I've triple checked and the photos are fine). Offered a return as I didn't want spiteful feedback, so they paid to send it back (this is for a £3.50 top). I then got a whole load of abuse once they realised I wasn't including the return postage in the refund, even though I'd followed the guidelines and offered a return.

Some people don't seem to realise that Vinted is not NEXT catalogue or Amazon, where you can buy stuff, try on and return if you don't like it. It's mostly just normal people selling their used stuff? I've bought a few things on Vinted that haven't turned out like I expected, sometimes due to the seller not being truthful etc, but I've chalked it up as experience and either given the item to charity, or re-sold with a better description. What I haven't done is contacted the sellers and threatened and abused them, all for the sake of a £7 pair of gym leggings. I just don't get it and I think I might cancel my other listings as I can't be dealing with that kind of stress in my life.

FunnyCradock · 31/01/2026 20:17

As a buyer I am currently REALLY fucked off with Vinted. I was sent some damaged joggers that were advertised as new. When I followed the return process, they chose for me to pay the postage. Then when I queried it )because I didn’t feel I should be out of pocket) they said they couldn’t change it. And their written reply was “rather u than me” <nice 👍🏼>

Vinted customer service quoted Ts & Cs at me - saying that when a person enters into a purchase they agree to the seller being able to choose this option & it cannot be changed.

Fuckers.

Sizing on vinted is a nightmare.

Gingefringe · 31/01/2026 20:41

I’m selling on eBay and it’s much easier than it used to be. Simple delivery is a breeze and you get a QR code with postage label paid by the buyer at standard rates. As an eBay buyer it’s easy to filter, and you don’t feel like you’re getting fleeced by excessive postage costs. I’ve used eBay for years and find sales have increased in the last couple of months after a really slow few years - evidently at the expense of Vinted.

dayswithaY · 31/01/2026 20:51

I sold a skirt on there for about £6 then I got an angry message from the buyer with a photo of a blue handbag saying this wasn’t what they bought. Obviously, Evri or whoever has mixed up the parcels but Vinted did not want to know. There’s no actual way to ask for an investigation either it seems.

In the end the only way for the buyer to get their money back was for me to refund them which I did. Now I’m thinking was I scammed - for £6? Surely not?

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 01/02/2026 07:45

It's just sad that it's completely lost it's way.
It was just pocket money for me but now it's time to try eBay.
There is Depop but I haven't seen much of that recently.

Yeah same I used to put a lot of cheap stuff on but now unless it's at least £10 i don't bother

socks1107 · 01/02/2026 09:00

I write in the title the exact size so buyers can instant see the size. It is a pain but I got two great pairs of trousers off there last night

DanaScullysLegoHair · 01/02/2026 09:08

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 31/01/2026 11:12

Absolutely.
Also anyone asking for pics with the item on doesn't sit right with me.
I had it with shoes once...

Indeed. I was selling a vintage Adidas GB track top and had someone ask me to take a pic with it on to see the fit. I thought that was fair enough and did (cutting my head out). Then they asked me for a pic with on but sitting down so they "could see how it sits/bunches up" so I said no.

I thought it is either someone taking the piss or someone just gets kicks out of asking people (women) to do things and/or gets off on something about it all.

They were "disappointed" and "would have paid full price for it if I'd done it."

OK.

ChocolateHobbit · 01/02/2026 09:16

I still use it quite heavily. I don't like the sizing change as I'm a 10-12.

I've been selling a lot lately and I just wish people would drag their arses to the lockers rather than expect a home delivery as post offices round here are few and far between yet there's lockers everywhere.
Can you set preferences with this?

MonsteraDeliciosa · 01/02/2026 09:16

I’m a regular buyer, but also cheesed off about the size changes. WTF can’t they just have 10 12 14 etc. as the sizes instead of having two at once? And an “L” alone on a size tag is never a 16 or 18, as Vinted seem to think, but always traditionally more of a 14.

All that said, I still prefer it for 2nd hand clothes. EBay has far less stuff on now and if I like something I just want to buy it, not wait till next week to see if I’ve won it in an auction!

DaphneduM · 01/02/2026 09:41

I agree about the sizing changes being a pain. But for me it's worth a bit more time trawling through stuff to find something either unusual, a bargain or both.

I only buy on Vinted, but my daughter buys and sells so I offload anything that I buy that's not quite right to her so she can sell it. To be fair, I've bought loads and only had the odd thing that's not fitted or not been as described. Also I find that most of the sellers are absolutely lovely and haven't had any nasty experiences.

My latest deliveries this week have been two pairs of pure silk trousers, pretty much as new and a brand new Italian wool and cashmere short cardigan - total cost for all three about £50 - but to buy new from designer websites would have cost more than ten times this price. So for me it's totally worth the extra time spent on the website.

Gettingbysomehow · 01/02/2026 09:45

I tried buying from vinted and everything arrived with armpit sweat rings and other dirty stuff on it. I was repulsed and never bought from there again.

There's no sellers protection.
There should be safety rules for this.
It's too easy for people with a fetish on the vulnerable.

I’ve only recently tried to sell on Vinted. It’s absolutely shocking! I have new with tags clothes and people are offering half of already knock down price. I’ll be removing the items and closing my account later today. Facebook marketplace is much better and I may try eBay again too. I haven’t been on it for years!

Not all buyers do that and you can just ignore. I offer if I think the price is unreasonable, but it’s usually a small amount. This morning I bought a Reiss jumper and I paid asking as I felt it was fair and I’m not looking to screw the seller over.

so I do what I think is fair rather than see it as an opp to do someone out of some value, but I get not all buyers are the same.

Hihibye · 31/01/2026 11:18

I sell on vinted over 700 reviews...nobody from america has bought my stuff yet thankfully.

Ebay is hood because of their global shipping programme but overall sales on there are sloooow.

I do prefer ebay if you have something specialist or designer to sell.

The ebay app is not as iser friendly as vinted.

Agree with this pp. I’m a seller and a buyer and use both platforms. The clothes sizing thing is a pain and I wish they’d change it back but I always write the size in the title, the description and have a photo of the label. If sellers haven’t done that, I don’t bother buying from them. But tbh Vinted is by far the cheapest place to buy clothes so I know I will find buyers; even my local charity shops are more expensive. The good stuff I post on both ebay and Vinted.
Ebay is much easier for putting things up for sale these days but it’s very slow… I normally have to re-list over a few weeks to sell anything whereas in Vinted I’m selling within a few days at most. EBay is still the best place for very specialist sales eg rare books, vintage toys.
As a seller I generally prefer to sell at a lower price with fast turnover so Vinted is a win win for me and my buyers.

whattheysay · 01/02/2026 12:49

The sizing is rubbish now it takes so long to find something in the size I want. And don’t talk to me about the sellers who don’t even bother to put what size it is in the listing and no photos of tags so I have to message them and ask what the size is. They may or may not respond.
I put photos of sizing and the size in the title so it’s easy for buyers and hopefully make more sales.
The last 4 items I’ve sold people have bought it for the listing price no offers.
I only use vinted to buy M&S or high street stuff at a fraction of the cost of new. I don’t buy expensive brands as they are probably fakes.

Northernladdette · 01/02/2026 14:37

This has (annoyingly) been the case for a while now.
Make sure you put the UK size in the title description and photograph the size label.
I’ve just deleted all my listings, things seem to be slow on Vinted lately 🙄

80smonster · 01/02/2026 14:55

Vinted is dealing with tat hunters, I prefer it for buying than selling. Sizing change (although I believe they have changed again) muddied the water all round, and I expect lost them more money than it has made. I’ve noticed my usage falling off due to sizing confusion and ebay’s return policies are generally more robust from a buyer POV.

MiddleChildX · 01/02/2026 15:03

Yes. I put my my items holiday mode on as I can’t be arsed with the hassle now. Ended up taking a tonne of stuff to the charity shop instead. And I’d only buy shoes now as searching for clothes is just a minefield with the weird sizing and crappy sellers. Think that ship has well and truly sailed!

Yes this... I'm only an occasional buyer and aware of the silly forced sizing bands but if it's in the 8-10 category I need to know what the actual size is... most just photograph the label but it's not always readable and when I'm creating a shortlist it's handy to be able to see the size easily.

Was considering selling a few items - can you switch off overseas selling? I only want to deal with UK.

Used to buy and sell a lot of clothes on ebay but a few years noticed there was hardly anything on it - everything had moved to Vinted which seemed more suitable at the time.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 01/02/2026 15:11

I still prefer it to ebay because of the prices and easy-to-use app, but EVRI steal/lose about 12-15% of all my parcels and then I have to wait for a month to get my money back.

MidnightMeltdown · 01/02/2026 15:14

I also prefer eBay. I find that I sell more on there. Vinted buyers seem to be exceptionally tight and ask for ridiculous discounts on everything!

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 01/02/2026 15:23

I have bought and sold on vinted for years and you are right, it has become unbearable since the change in sizing landings.

I am barely using it these days!
