Baby cheesus.

😬

I'm so glad we all hate cheese in this house! Crazy money.

Mini BabyBel Variety Pack £3.98
2 x Cheesestrings 8 pack £3.10 each
Laughing Cow £3.10
2 tubes of Primula £2 each

£17.28p

@BootMaker You have created much mirth here - especially Baby cheesus.

On the downside you have led my other half to believe that 2.5kg of cheese is a reasonable amount of cheese to be buying and that anything under £121 is practically a bargain.

I don't have the fridge space for this cheese consumption level y'know.

Strangequinoaconcoction · 19/12/2025 16:15

BootMaker · 19/12/2025 16:09

I could afford it, it was just a bit spikey.

And, for those at the back;

I AM NOT FEEDING 20 PEOPLE, I NEVER SAID I WAS FEEDING 20 PEOPLE. IT WAS A PP THAT MENTIONED 20 PEOPLE.

IF I WAS FEEDING 20 PEOPLE I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT MORE CHEESE.

Calm down Wallace 😃

Strictlycomeparent · 19/12/2025 16:16

BootMaker · 19/12/2025 15:20

Incorrect!

Seems like I got a bargain at £121.

It's my standard Christmas cheese order, usually about £80-90.

Just felt a bit toppy!

I was going to say £200 so definitely a bargain!

EasternStandard · 19/12/2025 16:16

BootMaker · 19/12/2025 15:11

For reference I got

A Vacherin
500g of stichelton
500g of Montgomery Cheddar
An Epoisses
A bungay raw butter
500g sparkenhoe
250g of smoked Coverdale
250g Alp blossom

2 x perello olives
1 x fancy hot chocolate

I love this list for not being the usual

I entertain most Friday nights the way most people do for Xmas (not with cheese though!) and that does sound ridiculous.

As do I. 37 this evening (although that’s because of a family birthday, so a little excessive even by my standards!). Also never with cheese.

But I could easily spend that much on cheese just for a 5 of us….we all love the stuff!!

Enjoy it, OP!

Fernsrus · 19/12/2025 16:18

I bought
Manchego
comte
roquefort
stilton
cheddar
brie

I suppose I spent about £35. I shopped in a variety of supermarkets, plus one from a farm shop.

loveawineloveacrisp · 19/12/2025 16:20

Cheese n rice (for Jesus Christ...)

GreyBeeplus3 · 19/12/2025 16:21

I sure hope that you got a mountain of it at that price!

Strangequinoaconcoction · 19/12/2025 16:15

Calm down Wallace 😃

Not even a bit of Wensleydale.

ultracynic · 19/12/2025 16:25

Easily done. I only allow myself to go into our local cheese shop every few weeks because it’s usually £40 just for nice cheeses for me and DH to munch on an evening. I can’t help it when it’s all in front of me.

Earlier in Tesco I threw back some stilton that had been reduced because it was still £3. How the other half live eh

LancashireButterPie · 19/12/2025 16:29

There's a cheese rush on in our town. Struggled to get comte, manchego and sage derby yesterday. I'm going to go tomorrow to a different town.
I can see a point where no one bothers with a turkey dinner and goes straight in with a cheese board and charcuterie.

clary · 19/12/2025 16:29

Tbh @BootMakerI am enjoying this thread v much. I am not a big eater of cheese (too smelly) and don’t buy any now as it just sits uneaten, but if we liked it I would spend £121 on a lavish amount for sure. Your cheeseboard sounds lovely so enjoy.

(I have spent more than that on wine. And I spaffed £28 on a fancy bottle of port at a Christmas market).

MayaPinion · 19/12/2025 16:30

Back in the day we’d have been thrilled with a block of Cathedral City and a tube of Primula (with prawns because we were fancy) 😂

Are the Red Cross aware?

Sunshineandlollipop · 19/12/2025 16:31

We have 2 fridge drawers full of assorted cheese plus half a wheel of Jarlsberg in for Christmas, so I applaud your dedication to cheese OP. Though we only have so much as I am lucky enough to work for a cheese maker so there are freebies

What's up with a bit of good old boursin?!

Never mind Boursin, what’s wrong with a lump of cheddar, some Babybels, a couple of Dairylea triangles and a box of Ritz crackers?!

Calm down Wallace 😃 Bloody love this 😂😂😂

Londontown12 · 19/12/2025 16:34

I'm no cheese snob, I can't deny the thrill of squeezy cheese.

Laughing cow gets my vote.

And those little French aparativo cubes, spech the ham ones.
