What's up with a bit of good old boursin?!

I have a soft spot for Danish Blue. It reminds me of Christmases wen I was small. A little buffet which included Danish Blue, buttered baguette and celery in a jug.

EverythingElseIsTaken · 19/12/2025 15:51

Well I wish I was going to OPs for Christmas! I do have some cheese in but not a lot because DH has been told to cut down his calcium levels…. 😔

BunnyLake · 19/12/2025 15:52

They’re not your run of the mill supermarket cheeses though so I suppose they have to cost more as not a mass market.

I thought you’d spelt Stilton wrong 🫣

TheChosenTwo · 19/12/2025 15:54

I looked at your list and thought about £130 so I was pretty close! There’s an amazing cheese place near us but my goodness it’s not a cheap ‘little extra’ at Christmas is it?!
our cheeseboard will contain a similar variety but scaled up in quantity because we actually are hosting for around 20 this year!

Hollowvoice · 19/12/2025 15:55

That's not an un-brie-liveable amount, I thought it might comte more

Squirrelchops1 · 19/12/2025 15:56

£175...
Was going to say £150

But realise was £121

Pre covid I spent £40 and there's only me and OH. I was a bit ashamed lol

Charlenedickens · 19/12/2025 15:48

That’s amount of cheese would never feed 20 people. Not generously any way,

Someone else(mistakenly) said it was 5kg of cheese!

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 19/12/2025 15:57

BootMaker · 19/12/2025 15:34

No. I'm not feeding 20. But who wants a mean cheeseboard?

That's the point! You either go all in and have a lovely cheeseboard, or don't bother at all.

Posh cheese leftovers on posh leftover crackers is one of the true joys of Christmas :)

ExhaustedHousewife · 19/12/2025 15:58

BootMaker · 19/12/2025 15:45

I'm not feeding 20 people, that was a PP's estimate of how many people the cheese would feed to avoid gluttony.

I don't think ANY amount of cheese is gluttonous at christmas,to be fair.

Oldraver · 19/12/2025 15:58

We usually get a Christmas voucher from work for £100 and I call it my cheese voucher

Its been reduced this year

hitmewithatottie · 19/12/2025 15:59

£3.23. Those Dairylea triangles are really pricey now.

GameOfJones · 19/12/2025 16:00

Good choices @BootMaker. I'm not bothered by all the sweet stuff around at this time of year but love a cheeseboard. I have dramatically reduced mine this year as I'm hosting a lot of people and it does get crazy expensive. So I've gone for just three types but big wedges. A Cornish cruncher, a Stilton and a Somerset brie. I'm jealous of yours.

Happy Cheesemas!

Christmas is all about cheeses.

ExhaustedHousewife · 19/12/2025 15:43

£121 between 20 people is very good.At least you'll have enough for everyone.

£6 each

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 19/12/2025 16:03

You spent £120 on cheese?

ZorbaTheHoarder · 19/12/2025 16:04

But didn't you ask how much it was going to cost when you placed the order?

quantumbutterfly · 19/12/2025 16:05

I have cheese envy, some of the flavour descriptors for yours are tempting. Now I want to go buy cheese, are you in cahoots with the cheese marketing board op?

maras2 · 19/12/2025 16:06

I love cheese and know the Python Cheese Sketch by heart but I've never heard of half the stuff on your list. Still I'm sure it'll be just the job.
Have a lovely time.

Hollowvoice · 19/12/2025 16:08

Is it feta assume there's stiltons of bits to get to go with the cheese?

quantumbutterfly · 19/12/2025 16:08

BootMaker · 19/12/2025 16:06

Baby cheesus.

I think babybels are a bit infra dig for you, but blessed are the cheesemakers of course.

Lemonyyy · 19/12/2025 16:09

😵I'm sure it will be delicious op, but blimey, I'm a supermarket st agur sort of girl so this seems astronomical to me!

WildLeader · 19/12/2025 16:09

TicklishReader · 19/12/2025 15:27

Six thousand pounds.

You live near me… our local farm shop is eye wateringly expensive and has a super dooper cheese room.

BootMaker · 19/12/2025 16:09

ZorbaTheHoarder · 19/12/2025 16:04

But didn't you ask how much it was going to cost when you placed the order?

I could afford it, it was just a bit spikey.

And, for those at the back;

I AM NOT FEEDING 20 PEOPLE, I NEVER SAID I WAS FEEDING 20 PEOPLE. IT WAS A PP THAT MENTIONED 20 PEOPLE.

IF I WAS FEEDING 20 PEOPLE I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT MORE CHEESE.

I love this thread and I love you OP because the next time my DH tries to rein me in on anything, I shall cry "But who wants a mean cheeseboard?" and then watch his puzzled look ...😂😂😂
