I sure hope that you got a mountain of it at that price!

Quality, not quantity, it is a beautiful selection of lovingly made cheese and I have cheese envy.

Philandbill · 19/12/2025 16:43

Sounds delicious. I love cheese too. When I was a student many decades ago my holiday job was on a cheese counter. Absolutely loved it and I can still cut cheese to weight surprisingly accurately..😀

EveryKneeShallBow · 19/12/2025 16:43

I’ve been working my way through the Courtyard Dairy’s advent calendar. Very, very highly recommended for cheese aficionados.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 19/12/2025 16:45

I am going on a Cheese Hunt tomorrow, and girding up my flexible friend as I speak.

That's a niche skill. I'm trying to imagine a non-cheese related circumstance where you could use it again.

Papyrophile · 19/12/2025 16:48

I must go tomorrow. The queue will be horrendous, but worse on Monday.

mellicauli · 19/12/2025 16:49

Your joyous cheese shopping list in Yorkshire conjures up a very cosy image.

I do hope the shop had a curved bay window bedecked with lights twinkling through the ancient wavy glass and a door that tinkled as you opened it.

Bunnycat101 · 19/12/2025 16:53

I am quite jealous you’ve got people who will appreciate that. The one year I went for posh cheese for family I went to Neals Yard in Covent Garden and spent a bloody fortune. My dad was like it’s nice but i prefer the usual ones from the supermarket… I haven’t bothered again.

Never heard of any of them.

im very excited about a Black Forest flavour Wensleydale and some coffee flavoured cheese I’ve got in Tesco. 😆

NemoSaltatSobrius · 19/12/2025 17:01

I believe it's impossible to overspend on cheese and too much is never enough but Christ on a Crumpet I cannot stand ripe runny smelly cheese!

CoastalCalm · 19/12/2025 17:08

Honestly people think nothing of spending that sort of money on booze so I think cheese is a much better purchase and your selection sounds perfect

TheRosesAreInBloom · 19/12/2025 17:08

@BootMaker for the cheese-unwise amongst us could you give us a rundown of those cheeses and why you select them?

HeadyLamarr · 19/12/2025 17:12

BootMaker · 19/12/2025 15:22

No!! Yorkshire!!

Courtyard Dairy? I spent over £100 there before. It's so easy to do.

Sparkenhoe is a Red Leicester, Stitchelton is a raw cheese variant of Colston Basset Stilton, Epoisse is a very soft french cow's cheese (alternative to brie or camembert), smoked Coverdale is a Yorkshire cheese similar to Wensleydale, Vacherin is a lovely gooey cheese from the Swiss/French alps, Alp Blossom is from the German alps and has dried alpine flowers on its rind which are very pretty and Montgomery is a particularly well regarded strong cheddar.

Thindog · 19/12/2025 17:20

Might be from the Courtyard Dairy? If so will be fabulous cheese, and it is Christmas.

Dliplop · 19/12/2025 17:20

We are hosting around 20, but only half of us are big cheese eaters, plus a few vegans. By the end of the weekend my diet will be mainly cheese, fruit, and appetizers until Jan.

We have very little booze and 2 cheap chickens (half are veggie), cheese gets a big share of the budget.

Nuts and pickles and olives
2 mystery packs of end cuts at a European store
end cuts from whole foods of red Leicester and Irish cheddar
local cranberry goat cheese
giant wedge of edam for the red wax memories
Quebec brie
Local over priced but amazing firm cheese

Vegan Irish cheddar thing
vegan pear and champagne goat cheese shaped roll

about $60CAD and very glad it was spread out over a few weeks. Still want a boursin and vache qui rit. Might add them for NYE

Trethew · 19/12/2025 17:20

Happy Christmas cheeselovers

We usually get a Christmas voucher from work for £100 and I call it my cheese voucher

Its been reduced this year

That is dreadful. Go on strike.

I thank you for saving me the job!

I also have a rind washed goats' cheese I got from the farmer's market last week.

That’s like 5kg of cheese (maybe more). Who truly needs or wants to eat that much cheese over a 2-10 day period 😳 Please say you’re feeding 20! That aside, small batch food is expensive and hopefully the farmers and makers got a fair share.

The joy of cheese is that, like smoked and cured meats and pickled/fermented/brined/oil marinated olives, garlic, capers, caperberries, artichokes, more olives, peppers, peppers with goats cheese in them, gherkins, etc, etc, it's a means of preservation - apart from the very newest ones that are more coagulated and possibly lightly fermented curd than cheese, they've already been sitting in a cool, dark place for a good couple of years already without the slightest trace of spoilage. As a result, they are absolutely fine for far more than 2-10 days as long as they are stored correctly and not contaminated by twats with butterknives.

Having said that, as long as I've got the melon, grapes, apples, pears, walnuts, pistachios, five different kinds of citrus, dragonfruit, figs, quince, cranberries, passionfruit, cherries and the standard salad veg and potted herbage I've already banged out sixty quid on for Christmas, I'll take one for the team and give a 2 day cheese clearance fest a crack.

Jessbow · 19/12/2025 17:25

Could have got it all in Waitrose or M&S !
Prob half the cost

Mini BabyBel Variety Pack £3.98
2 x Cheesestrings 8 pack £3.10 each
Laughing Cow £3.10
2 tubes of Primula £2 each

£17.28p

That's ridiculous. You definitely need more Primula. Have you tried it on Ritz crackers? Top snack that.

But not the prawn one. That's an abomination.
