The joy of cheese is that, like smoked and cured meats and pickled/fermented/brined/oil marinated olives, garlic, capers, caperberries, artichokes, more olives, peppers, peppers with goats cheese in them, gherkins, etc, etc, it's a means of preservation - apart from the very newest ones that are more coagulated and possibly lightly fermented curd than cheese, they've already been sitting in a cool, dark place for a good couple of years already without the slightest trace of spoilage. As a result, they are absolutely fine for far more than 2-10 days as long as they are stored correctly and not contaminated by twats with butterknives.
Having said that, as long as I've got the melon, grapes, apples, pears, walnuts, pistachios, five different kinds of citrus, dragonfruit, figs, quince, cranberries, passionfruit, cherries and the standard salad veg and potted herbage I've already banged out sixty quid on for Christmas, I'll take one for the team and give a 2 day cheese clearance fest a crack.
