And is there any way of changing it back . Like a klutz I gaily accepted the update but for the first time ever I loathe the changes .
My photos have been put into categories I don’t want . I hate the google search options , I hate the weird glass interface . I want my old phone back .

Also, is it just me, or has everyone else's calendar gone blank when you look back? I wanted to check something from earlier this year, and it was just blank. I hate it.
Is there any way to go back to the old IOS?

WanderingGiraffe · 20/12/2025 15:03

I think it’s a real downgrade too. Much less user friendly!

I don't think you can go back now, I think you could up to a few days ago but it's a bit of a palaver as you have to do it through a computer.

EmeraldRoulette · 20/12/2025 21:03

Thanks for the warning

I never have automatic updates on, but sometimes it resets itself because it's sneaky like that

I increasingly find my iPhone and iPad to be not good. I presume it's the software settings. The iPad is really really old so it might be that. But generally it seems insanely complicated. The whole point of being an iThing user used to be that it was user-friendly

I think the iPad is maybe in need of replacement and I don't actually think I should get another one. I want something that's good for security but really not sure what to get

There's been so much criticism of every single update, you would think they would've changed it

But I have heard that android is a pain in the backside and mostly intended for geeks.

I love you so much right now!!!

agree, so much love for you

Was going to update this evening and so glad I saw this thread!. My phone is old anyway and I need a new one as the battery life on this is shite but will try and hold off.

can anyone share some photos. Wonder if Apple is going the same way as Blackberry…

EmeraldRoulette · 20/12/2025 23:17

@NewAgeNewMe blimey that would be quite something

Do you really think that's possible?

I was hoping they would do something to redeem themselves.

Anyway, I'm not going to redeem myself because I'm trying very hard not to make a crumble joke...

🤣
blackberry
nokia
all big in their day.

who has one now 🤔

I rely heavily on my phone
SiL has Samsung and we all feel sorry for her 😁

I wouldn’t feel sorry for her. I’ve had an iPhone for years but really miss my Samsungs which were/are much better phones. I only put up with the iPhone because I do find my Apple Watch really convenient.

Before I updated I had 2800 unread emails 😳 now I have 800…. No idea what has happened. By the way to view all open tabs you swipe up from the web address bar.

Thank you for the swiping up tip.
It was annoying me far too much before!

Disturbia81 · 21/12/2025 07:27

The icons are so blurry until the app developers decide to update them

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/12/2025 09:19

Sesma · 20/12/2025 14:45

Are you using an older charger that's slower, like a usb charger rather than a usb c charger.

No it’s a fast charger. Always charged my phone quickly before this new 26 update

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 21/12/2025 09:23

I don’t know what I keep doing, but I keep getting a private thing jumping in that I can’t get out of. I do admit to being rubbish generally though, so 26 is a pita.

Onefortheroad25 · 21/12/2025 09:24

So glad it’s not just me! It’s awful. I’ve told all my family to not update their phones. The clock on my home screen is shit. Can that be changed? Wish I could go back. My phone is slow and clunky and the battery is useless. 👎🏻👎🏻

It is a bit confusing though because most people would have updated in September when it came out, I thought at first there had been a big change between 26.1 and 26.2.

Apple has obviously decided it's time the late comers are upgraded to 26 from 18 by putting it out on the automatic updates

So it’s been available for months for those who are keen to download updates when offered? I wonder if that is the majority as you assume or if the majority of users are somewhere between “can’t be arsed” and suspicious of new updates and wait until Apple does it automatically.
Anyway I’m pleased mine didn’t have the storage space to update - I’ll put it off for a while from reading this thread!

I’ve been burned from automatic updates in the past, so now I like to go on line and check reviews of the latest updates as they come out, rather than getting the updates automatically downloaded and installed. I’ve stuck with the latest version of iOS 18 after reading and hearing complaints about Liquid Glass/ iOS 26, but apparently at one point, I will have no option but to upgrade. I’ve turned off automatic updates and I’ve also managed to turn off the constant annoying pop-up reminders to upgrade to 26.0.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/12/2025 16:26

Why do they fiddle and change things that don’t need changing 😡

EmeraldRoulette · 21/12/2025 17:19

So all my automatic updates are switched off

But I've literally just got a notification that this is available

It's not going to force an update is it? Argh!

No, apple maintained two update streams for a while so people on earlier phones were updated to new versions of iOS 18 while iOS 26 was an optional update. It's only in the last couple of weeks that most people without the latest models have been upgraded to iOS 26

PollyPlumPeach · 21/12/2025 18:24

Nutmuncher · 16/12/2025 08:14

Hahaha as much as I hate this new update, I would NEVER have an Android, zero cachet and that interface makes no sense whatsoever to me. I judge non iPhone users, sorry not sorry 🤭

I'm more judgemental of people who can't spell tbh

Ireallycantthinkofagoodone · 18/12/2025 20:16

Definitely used to be able to do that, but the option disappeared when I downloaded iOS 26

Open the Phone app on your iPhone. On the Calls tab, tap the three-line icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Select Classic from the popup menu that appears.

Now you should be able to block a number by clicking the "i" in the call history

I do have it on ‘classic’ but don’t have option to block since iOS 26 unfortunately

NanTheWiser · 21/12/2025 19:38

@Onefortheroad25 , you can change the clock! On the Lock Screen, tap and hold, which brings a customize box up, where you can choose wallpaper etc. Tap the clock and underneath choose the far left number icon, and below that is a choice of glass or solid, so choose solid and save. Tada!
