I bloomin hate IOS 26 , anyone else

And is there any way of changing it back . Like a klutz I gaily accepted the update but for the first time ever I loathe the changes .
My photos have been put into categories I don’t want . I hate the google search options , I hate the weird glass interface . I want my old phone back .

The jump is because Apple wanted it to match the year. Because iPhones have been out 18 years that's why it was 18 or something like that so they just changed the number because of this to 26. I updated in September and I did notice a lot of changes then, my update this time must have been just a small one, that's why it doesn't look much different.

I feel really sad about the way Apple is going.

I remember my first Apple computer in the late 90s being so ahead of the curve, then the iphone, iTunes, iPad, it was all so cool but lately, it's all gone to shit - so childish - even Apple TV is for kids.

Such a shame because they were such innovators early on.

My issues are:

  • it looks really childish now, particularly, the camera icon.
  • the three step faff of seeing all your open tabs. Takes ages to see different pages!
  • Notes - i dont want to be constantly prompted to share them, theyre private!
  • cannot find my pictures now theyve all been jumbled up & moved!
  • needless 'bloat' has been added in the form of games.

Honestly, I expect better from Apple. It now looks like a cheap knock-off from 2012.

There are definitely some basic things that no longer work - you can’t block a phone number, either from the call log or from your contact list. Also, when I try to use the ‘share contact’ function, it only sends the name and mobile number, even though there are ticked boxes for address/email etc. I ended up having to send a screenshot instead. I don’t know what’s taking Apple so long to correct these issues. Very frustrating!

The worst thing for me is the keyboard, it doesn’t register backspace for some reason so takes ages and ages to type out a message. I hate the new ‘view tabs’ option on the browser too.

Hate it. Mine keeps flicking different colours (from pink to grey) when I swipe between apps. It’s making me feel nauseous. Trying to figure out how to make it stop. It’s also got a lag when I unlock the screen. Very frustrating.

Huh, I swear I only updated a couple of months ago but I just checked and I’m on iOS 18.6.2 and it hasn’t prompted me to update since. How’s it got to 26 so quickly?

EDIT: Google tells me it’s now year based.
Thank the lord I’ve not had some sort of weird time slip..

Anyone noticed that when you are filling in online forms you can no longer see what you are writing? And what is the giant tick for? As a PP said, it's been designed for toddlers.

Oh I never realised that was an update thing, thought it was just the site I happened to be on…no such luck, what a pain in the arse!

Mine has just woken me up by playing an alert for a new e-mail, even though e-mail is set to 'sounds - none' in both the notification centre and the app.

I have not had any update to 26 from 18 available until a few days ago and judging by this thread nor have lots of people- no idea why if 26 has been out for ages but people are referring to the change from 18 to 26. Not sure anyone really cares whether that's 26 or 26.2 to be honest.

Oh my god THANK YOU!!! You’ve saved my sanity.

Aside from that now being sorted, I still bloody hate it. Why have they made it more difficult to use and slower than treacle? My cursor skips around all over the place, if I zoom in using the two finger gesture I can’t zoom out again, webpages hang all the fucking time and the camera icon is pathetic.

yes I had this as well. Really annoying as someone asked me for my brother’s address and all that was sent was the mobile number and I had to then send a screenshot.
