Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

Apple - never owned one but every time I see an advert for any Apple product I mentally go 'How much!' in a Victor Meldrew type voice. Plus Steve Jobs always struck me as a bit of a kn*b.

It seems a bit of a cult....

CathyIreland · 29/10/2025 22:48

Champneys and The Sanctuary in Boots - cannot take either brand seriously and do not like the products.

Lindor. My taste in chocolate is very cheap (literally Malteasers or bust) and so any Lindt type chocolate always strikes me as being uppity with ideas above it's station.

It might cheer you up to know that it isn't rated as good chocolate in Switzerland. OK for foreigners but not for the Swiss.

Jollyjoy · 29/10/2025 22:53

Purdey and figg. Probably their stuff smells nice but I resent their adverts everywhere, feels too aggressive an approach for what should be a gentle, ‘sweet smelling’ brand in my mind.

what chox do the Swiss rate?

BlueWorkDay · 29/10/2025 22:54

A model rather than a brand - but I have a very specific problem with the Nissan Qashqai, after a random Google search elicited the an AI response to the question "Is the Nissan Qashquai the worst car in the world?"

I had no intention of buying a Nissan Qashqui, but now I consider them to be the worst car in the world.

Slightyamusedandsilly · 29/10/2025 22:54

Gucci. Purely because of those really shit brown toned handbags with the pattern made out of the logo. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

JudgeBread · 29/10/2025 22:55

Head and Shoulders. It had an ad that really irritated me as a child and for some reason I've carried that rage for 30 years.

Can't remember, sorry. But I was derided while I was there by Swiss friends for liking it.

The sanctuary stuff smells weird i can't describe it really.

Wise people, those Swiss!

Coffeeishot · 29/10/2025 22:57

Gucci, just looks like tatt ! I don't know why anyone likes it.

SpottyAardvark · 29/10/2025 23:04

Tesla. It’s not so much the cars themselves that I dislike, although they do have crappy interiors, uncomfortable seats, anwful ergonomics & frustrating tech. It’s the association with the ghastly Mr Musk. That’s why I would never buy one, however temptingly cheap used ones have become.

Rainallnight · 29/10/2025 23:06

Radley. That fucking dog.

Same. Most of the tesla interiors look like they've been designed by a 3 year old. Just a steering wheel and an iPad glued to a plain moulded dashboard .

sodabreadjam · 29/10/2025 23:14

Louis Vuitton. Never owned anything by the brand but I have always disliked the handbags and luggage covered with the ugly logo. So many fakes around too.

I'm sure they must make other things.

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 29/10/2025 23:16

Superdry. No explanation needed.

Missstified · 29/10/2025 23:38

Not so much unreasonably (as I think the dislike here is justified)... I had a bit of a 'Pretty Woman' incident while trying to shop at Holland Cooper. The staff member was so snobbish and awful.... so I bought from Fairfax & Favour instead.
Big mistake, HC. Huge!

@BlueWorkDay I can confirm they are, in less than 2 years mine depreciated 70% of its buy price and cost 50% of it's original value in repairs. I was very glad to send it to the scrap heap.

Hate the synthetic shit. Will cross the road do I don’t have to go past the shop!

CalmShaker · 30/10/2025 01:09

Anything overly woke and pretentious. I thought the recent Virgin Airways TV advert was awful. And I really hate that octopus thing for deliveroo.

I came on to say EXACTLY this…word for word…..I’ve never “ got” Superdry and I never will….
