Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

Fairy washing up liquid. Can’t stand their adverts. Refuse to buy the stuff and mentally put two fingers up at their highly paid marketing team as I ignore their product and buy the one next to it.

Yes, I am petty. I am the same about M and S Christmas food adverts.

I love this thread, I have found my people, irrational, vindictive and grudge bearing.

Edited

I feel the same about the washing capsules that get advertised by Mollie Mae and that Vogue Williams. As if they ever do their own fucking washing 😂

I get it...not a fan of Joules clothing at all. BUT...my wellibobs have held up quite well (have 5 pr!) and bright pink floral ones get complimented everytime. Older hunters wear great..newer made in China ones, like all brands that become trendy, are far inferior

The white company-why??

Exactly - their products are so easy to dupe, what was once tasteful ,calming, lovely products are now duped by all ie b&m ,aldi etc .
I now find them a little boring and certainly overpriced and i'm not interested in going to their shops anymore.

Actually I didn't grasp why they moved from "white things" to clothes more generally, but I have to say the White Company clothing quality has been extremely good for the items I have had. Their linen wears and washes particularly well, and their cashmere is soft and tactile at a fraction of the eye-watering cost of other cashmere companies such as one beginning with B and ending in A.

gingerperil · 30/10/2025 14:23

Range rovers… horrid, oversized petrol guzzling monstrosities who could squash me too easily. Feel the same way people here seem to feel about Tesla’s (which I actually quite want but not the Musk link!)

whatadaytoday · 30/10/2025 14:24

I have an irrational dislike of Tesco after once having a run in with an extremely rude member of staff. It was over 10 years ago but I’m not willing to let it go.

It might cheer you up to know that it isn't rated as good chocolate in Switzerland. OK for foreigners but not for the Swiss.

It's not for this foreigner, reminds me of Galaxy, aka slime.

CanIhaveabrewplease · 30/10/2025 14:27

Disney! So fake and it's everywhere as though linking with it makes other brands more desirable. I just have an irrational dislike of it and all the hype that surrounds it. A Disney holiday seems to be on so many bucket lists but it just looks like the most commercial, bland, over-priced plastic resort.

I also agree with others on the so called 'designer brands' dull, ugly and cheap looking!

CatFinderGeneral · 30/10/2025 14:27

Hate Tena. They were show semi nudes women (just pants), women with fake red menstrual blood, close-ups of crotches, school girls sitting on the toilet with their knickers around their ankles (no joke). They like to use shock tactics to get noticed, is my theory. So I hate them. But I don’t think I’m being unreasonable.

JudgeJ · 30/10/2025 14:28

Missstified · 29/10/2025 23:38

Not so much unreasonably (as I think the dislike here is justified)... I had a bit of a 'Pretty Woman' incident while trying to shop at Holland Cooper. The staff member was so snobbish and awful.... so I bought from Fairfax & Favour instead.
Big mistake, HC. Huge!

I had a similar experience in a Jo Malone outlet in a store, though admittedly I wasn't looking like I could afford it as it was raining and windy!

menopausalfart · 30/10/2025 14:28

Detest the cult of Apple.
Dyson. May make good product, but way overpriced.
Any brand that slaps their logo all over so you look like a walking billboard.

Bluevelvetsofa · 30/10/2025 14:28

The local Morrisons is the most unpleasant store I ever set foot in. Once only and by mistake. Asda is not quite as bad, but makes me uncomfortable.

I quite like the Saltworks perfumes and the fact that you can get sample sizes. Unsubscribe from their mailing list though.

Nissan as a brand, because the local Nissan garage is abysmal.

Any charity, especially at this time of year, who sends unsolicited requests for money, or raffle tickets to sell. Particularly if I donate to them anyway.

Lindor is definitely slimy and nasty. I liked Beech’s chocolates.

Are these the ones who do the adverts for "bulky pee pants"? If so I hate them too.

@IsThisTheWaytoSlamMyPillow The Fatface name comes from skiing because of what the wind does to your cheeks when skiing fast.

Ah, I didn’t know that. The name always strikes me as so odd - I just can’t imagine a brand trying to decide what collection of words or image would entice women to buy clothes and accessories and deciding the best option available was …. “Fat Face”!

sallyanne33 · 30/10/2025 14:30

Starlight1984 · 30/10/2025 13:34

I just had to Google what they are. What on earth?! Who approved these?! 😂

I call these Postman Pat cars. 😁

notacooldad · 30/10/2025 14:31

@didntlikeanyofthesuggestions
Superdry. No explanation needed.
Please explain.
I love my Supdry zip hoody and ive a couple t shirts that are good.

CanIhaveabrewplease · 30/10/2025 14:31

Thought of another! Any washing/cleaning product advertised by an 'influencer' or the ones that they are supposed to have had a hand in 'creating'. Yeah right 🙄

Winterlight · 30/10/2025 14:32

Snag tights; see also Molke bras that look like they are made out of an old pair of Snag tights.

My local Morrisons used to have the fish counter just inside the door so always associate the brand as smelling of fish.

CinnamonSweet73 · 30/10/2025 14:32

No 7 at Boots - I don't really know why, just seem really boring and old-fashioned to me!

CatFinderGeneral · 30/10/2025 14:32

I like Apple!
I like SuperDri
I like Radely - great quality handbags, and some lovely designs that do not include a little dog 🐶 woof.
I like Elon Musk
I (quite) like Fatface though I think they have lost their way a little bit.

MayaPinion · 30/10/2025 14:34

Dyson, for ripping people off to the tune of £400 just to dry their hair. A triumph of marketing.

JudgeJ · 30/10/2025 14:34

Talipesmum · 30/10/2025 13:08

Haha I love Morrisons, it won my soul when I discovered it was the only store down south to sell parkin at Halloween / bonfire night time. (At least the only one I could find - I’d asked in all the other supermarkets and local bakeries to no avail, they all looked at me funny and with blank expressions!).

Supermarkets do seem to tailor their shelves to their area, they have row upon row of jars of beetroot in East Anglia but at one time only Morrisons had picked red cabbage, a Yorkshire essential with a pie or a pasty. Since they were taken over I don't like Morrisons and it's gone ridiculously expensive.
Parkin is one of the easiest cakes to make, mainly melted stuff!

IamIfeel · 30/10/2025 14:34

White Fox. I just think it looks like over priced, cheap crap and I feel like I could come up with a catchy name and get some hoodies printed then sell them off in the same manor.

Epidote · 30/10/2025 14:35

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 29/10/2025 22:50

Lindor. My taste in chocolate is very cheap (literally Malteasers or bust) and so any Lindt type chocolate always strikes me as being uppity with ideas above it's station.

Lol, is literally one of the three brands of chocolate I only like. At least I'm kind of posh with something. You have made my day.
