Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

Too many to count. All the above, certainly.

Trallers · 30/10/2025 04:37

Much of the Ralph Lauren Polo stuff. I always think it's so ugly (giant picture of an odd-looking teddy bear on a tshirt, or a polo shirt with a massive loversized logo etc) and only worn to advertise how expensive it was. Get something nicer looking with your ££££! Obviously I'm unreasonable and judgemental as the ugliness is subjective, but I still stand by it! Actually I'll throw in most things with big expensive brands emblazoned across them.

Balenciaga I utterly loathe, but I think that's reasonable so I guess doesn't count!

CrazyGoatLady · 30/10/2025 04:50

I mean Tesla, for obvious megalomaniac/narcissist twat reasons.

Joules clothing. I hate that faux outdoorsy horsey country chintz look but for Londoners who never go anywhere muddier than Hyde Park vibe. And their stuff doesn't actually stand up to actual outdoor life. I was gifted a pair of Joules wellies years ago, but they split within a few weeks of wear on a smallholding!

I also simultaneously deeply resent the price of Hunter wellies and the fact that they are the only pair I've ever owned that didn't split after a few months!

Jokeymcjokeface · 30/10/2025 04:59

Lush. 😡
headache inducing sparkle crap

DogsandFlowers · 30/10/2025 05:09

humptydumptyfelloff · 30/10/2025 05:23

Talipesmum · 30/10/2025 10:36

Lacoste with that “infant school name peg label” crocodile stuck on everything. I don’t get it!

Makemineacosmo · 30/10/2025 10:55

Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Louboutin any of that nonsense.

Arraminta · 30/10/2025 11:00

Those God awful Michael Kors tote bags with the rose gold hardware. Look cheap and nasty.

ohyesido · 30/10/2025 11:03

Blakely. I see them being worn everywhere and they seem popular but for some reason the brand doesn’t appeal to me. They look very nice and get great reviews but somehow it just…annoys me

Fat Face. Just, why?!

I may feel differently if I had cheekbones and a single pointy chin!!

I like the idea of a loversized logo very much 😆 @trallers

Radley. That fucking dog.

Me too. I quite like some of their handbags now that the dog is dead (I presume) but I'm still looking for it and it has put me off.

Yes!!

I buy very few big brand products, having read a few books on consumerism in the recent few years. Once you realise you are being manipulated at every turn in the name of profit, you can't row back.
Sorry, so many "fews" there. 😬

@IsThisTheWaytoSlamMyPillow The Fatface name comes from skiing because of what the wind does to your cheeks when skiing fast.

mugglewump · 30/10/2025 11:19

El Mexicana. It should be either El Mexicano or La Mexicana. Equally, I will never buy from anywhere using a misplaced apostrophe.

PerkyCyanPoet · 30/10/2025 11:23

Dyson, they did a massive influencer gifting spree just at the start of lockdowns and it really rubbed me the wrong way 🤣 even though it had probably been planned for a while and couldn’t be helped.

Holland Cooper, massive tacky logo and made for people who don’t actually live in the countryside. Also I’m sure the brand wouldn’t be what it is now if it hadn’t been for the owners husband!

whirlyhead · 30/10/2025 11:23

Tesla. Every time I see one of the dratted cars, I want to chuck eggs at it or blow it up. Though disliking Tesla probably isn't unreasonable...

Also Citroens, as I've now driven 3 of them and they are the worst cars to drive on the planet. A cardboard box with wheels would corner better.

CathyIreland · 29/10/2025 22:48

Champneys and The Sanctuary in Boots - cannot take either brand seriously and do not like the products.

Yes, and Soap & Glory

greglet · 30/10/2025 11:28

The Nissan Cube. The most offensively ugly car ever to roll off a production line.

FloofyKat · 29/10/2025 22:53

what chox do the Swiss rate?

I know a Swiss lady who likes Laderach a lot.

Lindt is definitely supermarket chocolate.

Personally I like Belgian better than Swiss - things like Neuhaus.

Apple - never owned one but every time I see an advert for any Apple product I mentally go 'How much!' in a Victor Meldrew type voice. Plus Steve Jobs always struck me as a bit of a kn*b.

It seems a bit of a cult....

Edited

Exactly this. It has put me off Apple for life.

Gowlett · 30/10/2025 11:38

I went into a shop in London recently, Madison something?
It was basically a load of Primark vests etc for absolute $$$

I wouldn’t have bought it when I was 22, either!
The White Company is like a grown-up version of the same.

It's the Tesla owners that grate on me. They act as though everyone secretly wants their car, which most people really, really don't.

Don't get Lush at all. It looks like some sort of industrial waste product and smells like the sort of fragrance Minnie Mouse would wear on a date with Mickey.

But both have their devotees so maybe it's just me ...
