Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

Champneys and The Sanctuary in Boots - cannot take either brand seriously and do not like the products.

Oh my gosh yes!!! 😆

I always inevitably get a gift set of one of these brands for Christmas and it just sits in the cupboard until I have a birthday where I can fob it off re-gift it to someone else.

@IsThisTheWaytoSlamMyPillow The Fatface name comes from skiing because of what the wind does to your cheeks when skiing fast.

Yet I cannot think of any of their fabrics that would have me braving the ski slopes ... All that scratchy synthetic-wool mix type stuff.

Superdry. No explanation needed.

Why no explanation? please explain.

Starlight1984 · 30/10/2025 11:44

These have made me laugh but I agree with a lot of them. In particular Michael Kors (trying so hard to be a top end designer but in reality is just high street crap with a naff logo).

Also, not a brand but I actually cannot stand Morrisons as a supermarket. I can shop at literally any other supermarket but I actually panic when I have to set foot in a Morrisons. The layout, the price labels and signs... I don't know why but the whole experience sets me on edge and I just need to get out of there as quick as possible 😂

I buy very few big brand products, having read a few books on consumerism in the recent few years. Once you realise you are being manipulated at every turn in the name of profit, you can't row back.
Sorry, so many "fews" there. 😬

Edited

please share some
books. I feel very ultra processed

I honestly don't think anyone actually buys these and I believe they are in a constant cycle of regifting....

It is so awful and depressing in there, I cannot explain why.

stargirl27 · 30/10/2025 12:04

Mine would be Dryrobe, I find them so ugly.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 30/10/2025 12:07

Yankee Candles
All the main laundry brands with their grim overpowering scents and scentbeads
Dyson
ASDA
Morrisons
Pandora
Burberry
Gucci
Fur brands, e.g. Canada Goose, Moncler, Vuitton
Sports Direct
Mountain Warehouse
Decathlon - sell bullets designed for killing songbirds

Wednesdaysotherchild · 30/10/2025 12:08

But I don’t feel unreasonably so! They all deserve it!

oh and BT, Shell etc - I see you with your greenwashing ‘we lead the future’ advert crap!

applegingermint · 30/10/2025 12:08

Snag tights. Odious advertising.

coxesorangepippin · 30/10/2025 12:08

Michael Kors

Silverbirchleaf · 30/10/2025 12:18

@Starlight1984 I’m exactly the same with The Range, B and M and Homebargains. Never see the appeal and leave as soon as I can.

whatadaytoday · 30/10/2025 12:23

Laughing at the unreasonable dislike of Morrisons. There’s one near me and the store is due for renovation so inside it’s just old and ‘yellow’. I feel depressed going in, so I avoid.

Can you recommend any of these books? Interested...

Almost every Tesla driver I come across is an entitled twat who thinks they own the road and can park wherever they like. School run is full of them, blocking driveways and parking like they need a taxi to the kerb!
Louis Vuitton just look cheap and nasty to me
any clothing brand where the logo is massive

pixie1345 · 30/10/2025 12:42

I love michael kors bags

littleturtledove · 30/10/2025 12:46

Any company where buying something instantly unleashes a barrage of "sign up to join our community" type emails and flyers. Fuck off. I want to buy one item from your business, not join a faux-cosy social media cult as an unpaid advertiser and cash cow for your brand. Baby and maternity brands are the worst for this.

FastFood · 30/10/2025 12:48

Jo Malone. I just don't like the name and the branding.

This is actually quite outing but here goes:

I was out with friends and we were sharing out lifts home.

Initially I was going with a friend's DH but then another friend offered to take me and it worked better for various reasons. I therefore called across to the DH and said "Thanks, but not to worry, I am going with x."

He called back - in front of everyone - "Ah well ... might get lucky next time."

I honestly thought he was hitting on me in front of his wife's friends - until he gave a naff gesture towards his car and said "One day you'll ride in a Tesla." 🙄😳😆

Apple - never owned one but every time I see an advert for any Apple product I mentally go 'How much!' in a Victor Meldrew type voice. Plus Steve Jobs always struck me as a bit of a kn*b.

It seems a bit of a cult....

Edited

It’s totally a cult which my DH has totally embraced!

All our tech is Apple and he then cancelled our Spotify family plan and signed up to Apple Music. He got me to copy all of my music library over, but I gave it a week and didn’t like its suggestions, so signed up individually to Spotify again.

Then my JBL £48 ear-pods broke and he persuaded me to spend £140 on Apple Air Pods. They don’t sound as good as the JBLs and you have to charge the case much more frequently. But what’s most annoying is that there’s no volume control on the pods like the JBLs - to get that you need to buy the Pro version for £180!!

Gingernaut · 30/10/2025 12:58

Pantene

When P&G started to mass market this stuff, back in the 80s, the advertising budget must have run into the tens of millions

There were ads in magazines, on billboards, on every ad break (two commercial channels back then) and all over public transport

The constant ads, where the woman with the long, shiny black hair being released to hang free to show us how healthy her hair was, grated on every nerve

So I have not bought Pantene

I will never buy Pantene

I won't try a free sample

I won't pick it up from the reduced section at a shop

If I'm somewhere else and the shampoo is Pantene, I will use shower gel or bubble bath instead of Pantene

I have used Radox instead of Pantene

All because of an ad campaign 40 years ago

Inconsequential and petty, I know, but the OP asked for irrational

reversingdumptruckwithnotyreson · 30/10/2025 12:58

I have a love/hate relationship with Never Fully Dressed.

Love the style, but I think it’s insanely overpriced.

LindorDoubleChoc · 30/10/2025 12:59

Snag tights for their gross adverts.

I'm never touching another Flash product again - again for their insufferable TV ads.

Ryan Air - but that's not without good reason.

Halara jeans - I bought a pair and now they are stalking me round the internet day and night.
