COVID - the worst I have ever felt

I have tested positive for Covid and feel absolutely rancid. There’s no reason for this post except to moan about it! I had a temperature of almost 41, shivers and chills, body aches, sore throat and now I’m awoken with what I assume is post nasal drip. My sinus’ are so congested and it feels like my throat is getting clogged up with mucus that won’t go down. I feel absolutely horrendous. I have had Covid before but only lost my senses and had a light cold but this is a different breedSad does anyone know a remedy for this stuck post nasal drip?

I feel like dog crap this morning 😂 could barely sleep. Had Vicks stuffed up my nostrils last night. I’ve had a ginger and lemon tea with honey this morning but it was my last tea bag. So will be honey and water rest of the day. Ran out of ibuprofen but still have cold and flu tabs but feel like ibuprofen are helping the sinus pain. Thankfully my DD is 12 so pretty independent. Decided on a Chinese tonight with spicy curry sauce
lol

Makes me laugh now when I think of all the talk about herd immunity during the lockdowns. i don't think there's any such thing with Covid.

Thegrassroots26 · 18/10/2025 14:49

Today is really not good so far! Are others finding they improve more in the evening? I seem to have that pattern… roll on the evening…. This is ongoing torture. Day 9! 😭😭😭😢

An upset stomach too today just to top it off! My body is so weak

Wack some slices of fresh ginger in the honey and lemon tea to soothe the stomach

TheJustJoker · 18/10/2025 17:12

Mug of hot water with good dollop of strong honey, fresh lemon and plenty of fresh grated ginger. Won’t cure you but soothing and will help ease your airways- plus the anti inflammatory effects of ginger and honey. Couple of paracetamol on top. Always drags me back from the brink. Hope you feel better soon.x

daydi · 18/10/2025 17:32

Hope everyone’s okay today and taking some rest off poorly. My face feels unlocked today as I have been using a great spray but my chest is very tight and it can feel hard to breathe. Just got to remember it’s okay and COVID does this to people. What a horrible illness. I feel extremely lucky that I have childcare options because I don’t know what I’d do otherwise

Anti-histamines and steroid nasal spray are my go-go’s with colds and congestion, as it dries a lot of it out. Also help with sleep!

Rooting for you OP, you’re coming out the other side now🙏

daydi · 18/10/2025 18:22

Whenever I get Covid I get strange neurological symptoms, I feel wired and have odd things happen. This morning I was lightly sleeping and there were pictures running through my mind. Every time the picture changed to another picture there was a little buzz of white noise.
I know this sounds absurd but it’s how I know it’s Covid rather than any old cold / flu virus. It’s always felt a bit more neuro rather than plain old cold symptoms.

cannynotsay · 19/10/2025 10:21

I had it too it’s awful, and I’m 6.5 months pregnant. I feel you never been so unwell

givenitupnow · 19/10/2025 10:28

This current strain of covid is really awful. Yet the government has decided to restrict the availability of the vaccine. In previous years DH has been eligible, but not this year, my sister and BIL the same.
The flu strain this year is also really bad.
So many youngish people I know are really poorly with covid ATM.

I agree. You can tell it apart from a cold without a test.

Yeah I think it’s wrong. I think people who want the vaccine should be able to get it - without paying £90. It was ok to protect everyone 5 years ago, so why not now?

MoonWoman69 · 19/10/2025 11:27

I don't know what I've got, but it started two weeks ago yesterday and it's coming and going!
Symptoms include -
Ping ping ball of what feels like phlegm stuck in my throat that I can't cough up or swallow, it feels like a blockage.
Constant diarrhoea and horrific stomach pains.
Dripping nose.
The smell of shit, like someone mentioned, but that's been intermittent.
Nausea with no vomiting.
Everything tastes bitter, plus too sweet or too salty. That's when I've been able to eat at all. I spent 3 days on water and just 3 ginger nuts. I have an awful taste in my mouth constantly, even brushing my teeth doesn't shift it for long.
Rib aches.
Hot and cold, sweating at night.
Fatigue.
It's bloody awful and I can't wait for it to go!
My sympathies and get well soons to everyone suffering at the moment 🌻

The cost to employers and the NHS of young people being off work, spreading the virus around and people ending up in hospital will probably end up costing more than just offering the vaccine.

I’m not a doctor but that sounds like Covid!

Catatemyhomework · 19/10/2025 11:46

I had it last week and felt awful. Covid always wipes me out. Just when I thought I was turning a corner, I got struck with vomiting and dizziness. Was really scary.

-1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
-1 tablespoon of honey
-Dissolve both into a mug of hot water

It's an extraordinary drink. Blows your head off in a way, almost burns the back of your throat but feels amazing when you have a bastard cold/flu.

This with Manuka honey and organic apple cider vinegar with the mother. And fresh ginger! Cures me

Same for me. Covid has me bedridden every year.

KookyRoseCrab · 19/10/2025 12:00

I took a tablespoon of honey from our local area and just hibernated

Thegrassroots26 · 19/10/2025 12:01

Evil virus. I guess it had to be to shut down the entire world for years. Surreal.

Crapola25 · 19/10/2025 15:37

I was awake until 5am coughing non stop- bloody horrible. I'm 2.5 weeks in and can't shake it off. Never felt so rough. Can't smell anything. No appetite, feel sick.

Maybe? It does seem to have struck a lot of people earlier than normal this year…
