Storm Amy

So the season of named storms is upon us, with Amy being the first.
What are the conditions currently like where you are?

Here in the south east, the rain is gradually getting heavier but no hint of the predicted winds yet.

I hope all the MNs in Scotland and NI are safe and sound.

Getting very blowy and heavy rain, North West

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 03/10/2025 15:39

North Mids. Raining hard all day since around 9am, winds of 35mph, and windchill of 13C - but feels like 8C!

I've got to go for a walk in this too. Gotta get my steps in. 😬

EveryKneeShallBow · 03/10/2025 15:39

Quite blustery in NE Fife. But that’s normal for us, unfortunately.

North east and the rain is really coming down now and the wind has picked up in the last 30mins.

CoastalCalm · 03/10/2025 15:42

Yep it is lashing down with rain in Northumberland , planned grocery trip is not happening …. Did somebody say Just Eat

GaudySocks · 03/10/2025 15:45

Peak district. Really windy last night. Rain and blustery winds now. My house has gone very dark! Had to walk 2 miles to the shop and back, got drenched as my little umbrella couldn’t cope. Heating just gone on.

Chipsahoy · 03/10/2025 15:46

Wet and windy in north east Scotland. Not any worse than a normal day so far.
We are rural and high up and exposed so often get hit hard. Arwen has us without power for a week. And no power means no water as it’s pumped to us from a well.
Floris we managed to keep power but we are still making our way through sawing the branches we lost from our trees. I think because the trees are still in leaf, the impact is greater than in winter.

We have prepared as much as we can, chickens are in their pen and barn cats have settled in the straw. I’ve brought in the furniture and such from outside. Dogs walked. Just waiting on buses to bring the kids home and then we hunker down!

Good luck everyone.

shellyleppard · 03/10/2025 15:48

@Chipsahoy stay safe x

shellyleppard · 03/10/2025 15:49

Catpiece · 03/10/2025 15:51

Wet and windy in London

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 03/10/2025 15:52

Blimey! It looks like it's all over the UK!!!

AnSionnachGlic · 03/10/2025 15:55

West of Ireland here......floods, high winds, electricity outages already and we have just started the Orange Warning!!! It's a wild one!

wooooooop · 03/10/2025 15:58

What a splendid name for a storm 😎

RoxytheRexy · 03/10/2025 16:03

Very wet and windy in Cardiff. I have 5 10 year old girls here for a Taylor album play through party. It was a very damp walk back from school

ApolloandDaphne · 03/10/2025 16:07

Pretty windy on the east coast of Scotland. We are supposed to be travelling from Fife to Dundee to see a show tonight but don't know whether to risk it. The Tay bridge is forecast to possibly close to all traffic around 8 and that would be a disaster for us! We are waiting it out at the money as we don't need to leave until around 6.30.

AutumnWreath · 03/10/2025 16:09

Cumbria here , very windy and lashing down can hear the rain coming down the
( sealed ) chimney pot .

The rain is coming down in dundee at the moment but isn't too windy. Fingers crossed it stays like that and you make the show 😊

pinkbackground · 03/10/2025 16:20

North East England. I’m a gardener and came home around 2.00 very wet and windswept!

1nutcracker · 03/10/2025 16:23

Central belt of Scotland. Wet and much windier here than storm Eowyn in January.

JoshLymanSwagger · 03/10/2025 16:29

Cheshire.
Bit blowy here - most of the leaves from our tree in the front garden are now stuck to the car 🙄 but the rain stopped an hour or 2 ago.
Just been outside to wedge/line the bins up away from the house (just in case) and it's pretty mild.
No need for a big coat. 😁

What a splendid name for a storm 😎

Would I be right in guessing your name ?

muddyford · 03/10/2025 16:31

Southwest here. A couple of hours of rain and a bit breezy but nothing unusual.

MartinBishopsbum · 03/10/2025 16:31

I'll be almost right in the middle of it, I love a good storm though

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/10/2025 16:32

Very heavy rain in Lincolnshire. DD has driven down from Leeds with her baby. She plans on going back tomorrow so I hope the wind drops.

PickAChew · 03/10/2025 16:33

Soggy in Durham. Had to go out in it, too. Now have coats dripping all over the house.

Can't wait to see what storm Dave brings us.
