Pull up a chair for some friendly chit chat about politics and beyond

Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

Thanks @DuncinToffee !
Cat tax of Perdy dirtying my clean towels and not giving a single fuck about it.
She did her volunteering at the dogs’ home yesterday, cat testing 3 dogs. Two passed (one was scared of her meow - it is loud in fairness) and a third was a bit inconclusive…

😂. Have to get motoring on on Procrastination day. May post an image of some scaffolding later.

Thanks for the new thread.

I’ll admit Ed Balls has something for me too!

my tax this week was taken on the walk the mentioned a few days ago where I was in shorts, jumper, dummies and had (needed and used!) my umbrella

I’ve actually been quite predictive for a Saturday!!

Ironing, 2 loads of washing on the line, weekly shop, Chicken casserole in slow cooker and mini quiches in the air fryer!

tomorrow I’m making pulled pork and Monday I’ll slow cook a load of jacket potatoes for the freezer!

Also out for breakfast with my mums family tomorrow!

cardibach · 06/09/2025 12:28

Blimey @itsgettingweird . I’ve washed some towels (not the ones Perdy is pictured dirtying…) and am trying to get myself off the sofa to go out and get cat supplies and petrol. Also whisky as Asda has an excellent offer on Haig Club (I know, not great whisky but works fantastically in a Godfather cocktail) and I need to be prepped for winter.
Edit: going to see youngcardi in a concert tonight so that will be fun.

ilovesooty · 06/09/2025 12:33

Thank you. Tax later.

itsgettingweird · 06/09/2025 12:33

It’s my last Saturday off for 10 months!

Ds usually trains 7-10am or is competing all weekend and sometimes has national camps etc on a Sunday (and never anywhere close by 😂).
When I get time I like to stock up the freezer with meals cooked from scratch - because I literally them up for lunch/dinner daily 🫣

Next week swimming picks up a bit and then from 15th it’s back to M,T,Th and Friday morning and evening and sat am!!! I’ll be chucking clothes at the machine and airer as necessary and my iron will think I’ve abandoned it 😂

The Reform conference is raging a war on education and climate

This is pure comedy though

“I too came from a poorish family,” says the 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, eldest son of Major-General Gilbert Monckton, 2nd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley and Marianna Letitia, Viscountess Monckton of Brenchley.

Laundry is a constant for us. Thanks, DS2. I have cleaned that grotty bit under the microwave and been for a leg stretch via the Sainsburys local for some fresh bits. I have ironing to do and that's quite enough domestication for one day.

We visited Barnard Castle, yesterday (no opticians were involved) and thankfully found something for tax in one of the many charity shops.

Who loves ya, baby?

That thread is hilarious.

i see the Heartland Institute is advising reform on climate change - worth knowing a bit more about the US Exxon sponsored think tank.

A reminder of why Farage and friends spend so much time in the US - it’s definitely not for the UKs benefit 💰 💵💵

Judgy Cat thinks she's paid enough tax already this year!

Thanks for the new thread.
Going to be a busy autumn, methinks.

ETA: name change fail! Oh well 🤪

I have done the food shopping. I feel like death because I have a stinking cold - in fact, I'm a digital broadcasting service because I'm streaming. That's in between hours of not being able to breathe through my nose.

This afternoon, I am painting a new hair design on DD's newly buzzed and bleached head. She's cooking because I don't have the energy.

And here's my tax. Yea though I am the grumpiest snot ball in the valley of mucus, I will not dodge my taxes.

Thank you for the new thread.
I am also team Burnham. I read his and Steve Rotherham’s book ( head north) well I listened to it. I really enjoyed it.
I got a copy for my partner as he is an Everton fan and from Liverpool and there was a lot about Hillsborough in the book.
I know we were all busy with the AR news yesterday but did anybody see Andrea Jenkins performance at the Reform conference yesterday? 😳

LittleBowSheep · 06/09/2025 14:04

Vatheia, an abandoned village in the Deep Mani, Greece. Built in the traditional Maniot style, the tower houses were inhabited by feuding families whose wars sometimes lasted decades. Rather fitting for our times too i thought.

Paying tax in the shape of DDOG2 back from the Vet with absolutely nothing wrong with him after incurring £1000 of bills.
Does not declaring the existence of a second dog count as tax evasion?

Farage on sky news tells Beth Rigby he never said he’s stop the boats in 2 weeks if he gets in. He’ll just make the legislation as apparently no one can stop them coming.

He’ll use RAF bases to detain, and will deport woman back to Afghanistan.

Sky have reported he’s changing his mind and saying things that are on record he’s said.
