I’m kinda sick of it, although heading to the seaside at the weekend so that kinda makes up for it but sick of the sleepless nights

seems to be going on forever

it must be global heating surely ?

I just hope it actually arrives. I can’t remember a day when I’ve actually been warm yet this year and certainly wasn’t last year. I’m currently under two blankets and a duvet and my weather app is showing 16 degrees, it’s not exactly earth shattering.

If it’s nice and sunny though I might be able to get out hiking this weekend or maybe out for a nice long run.

I hate the heat, I dread summer every year. Last year's summer was (almost) manageable but this year we're back to too hot, too dry, too much sunshine. I find it utterly unbearable, I have curtains closed, several air conditioners on 24/7 but still find it problematic. High heat can make me physically sick. I lose all my energy in the summer, I can't think straight etc.

Never mind, the nights are drawing in already and Christmas is less than 6 months away now. That gives me great pleasure....as soon as autumn arrives and the days get cooler, I suddenly get all my 'oomph' back, masses of energy, full of zest for life and new ideas etc. Bring on winter!!

Are you me?!😂

That's an interesting article. And actually backs up everyone who says they feel like last summer was crap despite average temperatures being high - the raised average temperatures were down to higher than average temperatures overnight and in less populated areas.

In late June 2024, the United Kingdom was affected by a heatwave, with most of the country seeing temperatures reaching 26 °C (79 °F). In mid-July and late-July 2024, heatwaves affected the United Kingdom, and again in August

Yeah but those heatwaves lasted about 3-4 days as I recall. So that’s twice/three times last summer we had short spells of good weather. Rest of the time it pissed it down.Grin

Agree. I’m in the south east and the last two summers have been ‘rubbish’ in my summer classification system. Absolutely loving this one ☀️

Delatron · 10/07/2025 12:30

Yep there was a lot of rain last year and the year before - just because temperatures were slightly above average (which is around 18 degrees in this country!) doesn’t mean it was a good summer…

I remember lots of outdoor events being ruined by the rain last year. Which is disappointing in summer. We had the odd brief hot spell but they didn’t last long. July in particular last year was not good.

I’m not saying I want 35 degrees and zero rain but just a decent summer where there’s sun, warmth and you can be outside in the evening….where people can enjoy festivals, weddings, sports events, camping, UK holidays, without it pissing down the whole time.

It was during last Augusts heatwave that my HO came to my flat She was here a while so really "felt the benefit"

I bet flat dwellers see last years summer differently to house dwllers particularly house owners

Bloody sick of it. The fourth one this summer. And still there'll be people saying we've had no summer this year. It's been 32/33 degrees here today and quite frankly,I've had a gut full. It's making me feel quite ill. Wondering if it's because of the medication that I'm on.

JenniferBooth · 13/08/2025 00:07

. "And still there'll be people saying we've had no summer this year"

Yep Id lay money on it

user1476613140 · 13/08/2025 07:20

It's to be 27C here today so I will be indoors all day. It's insufferable.

Well they'd be right - it depends where you are in the UK.

the80sweregreat · 13/08/2025 09:47

I just don’t handle the heat , never have done and it is different on holiday because you have ways around getting too hot , air con, pools and shade.
I want it gone, but looks as if it’s a bit of wait before we see any significant rain.

Auburngal · 13/08/2025 10:41

Yesterday I was in my parents’ car and saw two teens wearing thick black hoodies and tracksuits bottoms at 33c.

What is this thing about?

StarCourt · 13/08/2025 13:56

32 degrees here yesterday, 29
today. Hate it, Autistic teen can’t temperature regulate who hates it even more. We currently have an AC unit and 5 different fans on

the80sweregreat · 13/08/2025 16:57

I really do hate this heat
I just want it gone

yelladuster · 13/08/2025 17:33

I hate it. I walked to the supermarket and back this morning and I've been dead ever since. My husband still thinks I'm gyming it with him this evening as opposed to what I'll actually be doing which is lying on the sofa eating a solero.

I sometimes wonder what passes as summer for some people! 40 degrees for 8 weeks maybe? 🤢

JohnTheRevelator · 13/08/2025 19:50

Will the people who get excited about yet another heatwave will be moaning when there's a serious water shortage? I can't remember the last time it rained properly where I live. The grass is yellow, the pavements are filthy and the local reservoir is only half full.
