I’m kinda sick of it, although heading to the seaside at the weekend so that kinda makes up for it but sick of the sleepless nights

seems to be going on forever

it must be global heating surely ?

Not a fan (medication means I have to be very careful in the sun) and we don't have much outdoor space so we rely on the local parks, green spaces, football pitches, canal walk etc all of which aren't enjoyable or sensible in high temperatures.

We'll stick to in-laws shaded, North facing garden and / or head out early and late to enjoy our local outdoor spaces.

Its not just excersise Its also cooking that goes by the wayside here. I havent cooked for two weeks. The flat is just too hot everywhere including the kitchen

Gogobabyshark · 09/07/2025 18:49

I’m absolutely dreading it. I’m on chemotherapy and the heat just makes my symptoms unbearable.
I also can’t tolerate cold things due to my drugs so no fans, air on, cold drinks or ice creams. Last time was really tough and I’m pretty miserable about it

aGirlLikeJesamine · 09/07/2025 18:50

the worst thing is caring for the ddogs

@YouWillFindMeInTheGarden and feel free to link to some data that shows temperatures are the same as the 70s/80s etc?

It’s not that deep love it’s just mumsnet…. 😂 no need for links and scientific data . Google is your friend of your overly bothered

its just summer

ToffeeCrumble · 09/07/2025 18:50

I'm not a fan as my house seems to absorb heat and radiate it at us at night so the rooms stay quite a bit hotter than the temperature of the night air with the windows open. At least it's only 30 and not 40 like 2022.

Zippymonkey · 09/07/2025 18:51

Chinsupmeloves · 09/07/2025 18:46

It always seems to be hotter in the South but even up North it can become very hot, too hot for me lol.

I live about 15 miles from the coast and couldn't imagine living in a big city or town very inland, especially London. Xxx

Yes we used to live in Newcastle Upon Tyne and we really miss being able to go to the beach when it is warm. Inland is no fun! Luckily we have a fair amount of green space locally and forests are the second best option when beach is not available 😊

What a predictable response! 😆

No, this is weather. Global warming is not weather. And it's great now I'm used to it.

Can you back that up with links? Facts? Proof?

only joking. I agree with you

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 09/07/2025 18:52

Loving it now that I can wear loose clothing and work a lot from home. Brought a large above ground garden pool and love getting in that as soon as I’m finished with work or on my lunch break. This can go on all summer as far as I’m concerned.

when I worked on the busy wards of a hospital I didn’t love the hot week days as much. But still liked the weekends.

MassiveOvaryaction · 09/07/2025 18:57

I've still got the migraine that last week's precipitated, as well as having a condition that's exacerbated by heat and on medication that doesn't go well with hot weather so I'm really not looking forward to it at all.

Celestiel · 09/07/2025 19:00

Brown grass and dusty fields in North Dorset - farmers having to use winter feed now means everything will cost more later on in the year… all the dust and grass pollen sticking to everything and regular bonfires here - can’t hang washing out!

The ground is so dry any heavy storms cause flooding as it just runs off…

Echobelly · 09/07/2025 19:03

Pretty 'ugh' although at least I'm glad this year our summer holiday is in Scotland, so we won't have the disappointment of having a lousy summer and not even gone anywhere warm.

I'm also annoyed because my fingers seemed to swell up a bit in the heat the other week and haven't gone down, so for the first time in 18 years I can't wear my wedding and engagement rings.

chocolatelover91 · 09/07/2025 19:04

Dreading it.

Not as bad the the relentless moaning about how tired everyone is esp in real life

ohhhh im so tired blah blah blah

Crikey OP you really should try to develop some empathy. A lot of people (myself included) feel very ill once the temperature goes above around 23C. One day you may have a chronic health condition and not be able to deal with the heat yourself.

It affects my bowel issues. Stomach overheats like the rest of me.

Edited to say : 2023. Will look for 2024 now.

Met Office summary of 2023. June was warm. July (which in my mind is peak summer) wet and unsettled, August a bit better but by no means glorious. A bit of a late peak towards the end of the summer.

This Spring and Summer has been much, much better.

I agree 30+ is too hot for this country though. It’s just been nice to have some more sun than last year. I know we need rain though.

Are you the taxi driver who told Stewart Lee "You can't prove anything with facts"?

Delatron · 09/07/2025 19:07

A cool and dull July last year. www.metoffice.gov.uk/blog/2024/contrasting-conditions-in-a-cool-and-dull-july

Now's the time for someone to get into the air con installing business, make a killing...also ceiling fans should be in high demand!🥵

What the heck !!! Where the hell are you ?

I was sst under an electric blanket most of the day. In Brighton. Our house is so cold

It's rubbish. I've got digestive issues too and migraines...so many things going on that I can't even tell what's making me feel ill.

I've got this thing that you can wrap around your waist and it holds either ice packs or a hot water bottle. I got it from Amazon.

jaws33 · 09/07/2025 19:12

@Delatron

but I remember the sun and in London it wasn't a relentless grey cloud which is what I replied to...

Barbadossunset · 09/07/2025 19:12

@JenniferBooth those articles are so sad. Being in a high rise flat and unable to open the windows is a form of torture.

jaws33 · 09/07/2025 19:13

I never said it was glorious either.

BrainWontWorkAnymore · 09/07/2025 19:13

Highest this summer has been 20 ages ago. Forecast 18 tomorrow so I might just wear a short sleeved t-shirt under my jumper
