I’m kinda sick of it, although heading to the seaside at the weekend so that kinda makes up for it but sick of the sleepless nights

seems to be going on forever

it must be global heating surely ?

plenty of summers like this back in the 70’s/80’s/90’s etc

30s in June was defo not the norm

We are in July …

Odiebay · 09/07/2025 18:30

I'm running away from it down to the coast where it's 24 degrees!

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 09/07/2025 18:31

I'm at the Ed Sheeran concert on Friday. I'm glad it's not going to be chucking it down but I think I might boil!

MascaraGirl · 09/07/2025 18:32

Really looking forward to it, I’ve got lovely dresses to wear and hoping to pick up a little (more) colour before Greece in August.

But my poor cat will struggle. She is16, has a thick, glossy coat (even though she’s short haired) and will probably lie on her tummy on the kitchen floor tiles

MarySueSaidBoo · 09/07/2025 18:34

We're quite lucky in that our 80s built house has got all solid walls downstairs and with blinds/curtains drawn it's bearable. The upstairs is not. We've slept in the living room on a mattress many a night recently to keep our old dog cool (he's got a heart condition and can't overheat). I'm worried about him this week though as he's already unwell with a gastric infection Sad

YouWillFindMeInTheGarden · 09/07/2025 18:36

My garden is complete shade from around 5 pm so cool in evenings

workplace is literally satans armpit though…. Not much can be done there. But the moaning!!! Makes it ten times worse

youreactinglikeafunmum · 09/07/2025 18:36

Very very sad about it

Hothothothothothotlovingit · 09/07/2025 18:38

DC home from Uni. Weather that allows me to dry laundry everyday is heaven on earth.

Dyson fans help at night.

I got back from Europe last week so was sweltering in nearly 40 degree heat. UK heat is a breeze compared to this.

jaws33 · 09/07/2025 18:39

@YouWillFindMeInTheGarden But you know what the summer months are don't you? You said *plenty of summers".

inigomontoyahwillcox · 09/07/2025 18:40

I can't wait to go to Greece in a few days where the temperature will only be a couple of degrees hotter but there will be air conditioning, a pool and the sea to cool down in.

Sunblocker · 09/07/2025 18:40

I love it (and I say that as a ginger!). I do live at the seaside though and just went for a lovely swim with my very hot dog! I appreciate it’s harder for those stuck in cities.

howshouldibehave · 09/07/2025 18:40

We have to squeeze all the heatwaves in before the kids break up, then the rain can start!

jaws33 · 09/07/2025 18:41

@YouWillFindMeInTheGarden and feel free to link to some data that shows temperatures are the same as the 70s/80s etc?

Overtheatlantic · 09/07/2025 18:42

It makes me appreciate the relentless cold months a bit more.

EscapeToSuffolk · 09/07/2025 18:42

It makes me wonder whether the "It's just summer" people will still be saying the same thing in ten years.

Are these people very young or do they have short memories? Or are they older people who insist on mentioning the anomaly of 1976?

I wish I was able to delude myself too be I'm a realist.

We only have a few days of it in West Yorkshire but I'm moving back down south soon. I'll be getting A/C installed.

Zippymonkey · 09/07/2025 18:43

Dreading it, we are south east and expecting 4 days well over 30 degrees. On the plus side, I bought an air con unit last week so will be good to test that out for the nights.

Chinsupmeloves · 09/07/2025 18:45

I've realised the past few years I've become more intolerant to heat. I love it when on holiday or when we have a bbq etc but day to day not so much.

New house is south facing and my DH opens all the blinds so the sun bursts in and I feel like a vampire closing them and craving a cool house. In fact it puts me in an irritable mood making breakfast with the heat blasting in my face, I actually hate it!

Much prefer cool, cloudy, fresh 😎

Crunchymum · 09/07/2025 18:45

Not a fan (medication means I have to be very careful in the sun) and we don't have much outdoor space so we rely on the local parks, green spaces, football pitches, canal walk etc all of which aren't enjoyable or sensible in high temperatures.

We'll stick to in-laws shaded, North facing garden and / or head out early and late to enjoy our local outdoor spaces.

Flozle · 09/07/2025 18:45

Hate it. Grumpy at the very thought. Anything over 23 degrees is too bloomin’ hot. 🥵

It always seems to be hotter in the South but even up North it can become very hot, too hot for me lol.

I live about 15 miles from the coast and couldn't imagine living in a big city or town very inland, especially London. Xxx

wobblyweasel · 09/07/2025 18:47

Absolutely dreading it!

softlyfallsthesnow · 09/07/2025 18:48

@JenniferBooth exactly. Our house is solidly built 1920s and we can usually keep the heat out for some days, especially downstairs.
My son lives in a top floor low rise 13 year old apartment block in Manchester. His flat is unbearable if the temperature goes into the 20s despite having blinds, despite opening windows and french doors at night (he has a large terrace). It's built of completely the wrong material with no regard to rising temperatures. Outside shutters / blinds should be standard fittings imo, like the French have. He's seriously considering air con now.

RaininSummer · 09/07/2025 18:48

Would be nice as I will be on leave but apologies to anybody in the South West as it will doubtless not be a heatwave if I am off. See my user name.

aGirlLikeJesamine · 09/07/2025 18:48

i work next to the sea, lucky me
