I’m kinda sick of it, although heading to the seaside at the weekend so that kinda makes up for it but sick of the sleepless nights

seems to be going on forever

it must be global heating surely ?

desperate for rain - my vegetables are suffering despite watering every night, and I'm nearly out of water in every waterbutt and container at the allotment.

I think that this year, we are actually getting a summer. Remember the relentless grey cloud of the last 2?

I remember sun last 2 summers.

Hodgemollar · 09/07/2025 17:21

The worst thing about summer is the relentless moaning on mumsnet.

Brilliant - can't wait for a few days of sun and temperatures in the mid twenties. It's been mid to late teens here and cloudy.

If that's all it was, it'd be fine but it's going to be 33 degrees here in the SE on Friday. It's too much. Mid-20s is lovely to be outdoors in, once it gets over 30 being outside is just horrible, especially if you're trying to actually do anything!

Fearfulsaints · 09/07/2025 17:28

Im ok with the day but I am not looking forward to the fact it said it won't drop off much at night. I like a cools nights sleep and it let's all the heat out the house when the temp drops.

I’m not really looking forward to it but we have air conditioning units so I’ll mostly stay inside with our animals and it’ll feel much cooler. I like it being up to about 24 degrees but it’s apparently going to be up to 32 degrees in the next few days which I find too much. Thank goodness for air con units. 😅

Excited (Scotland)

Yay! We might get 23 at a push! I’m maybe further north tho 😂

the80sweregreat · 09/07/2025 17:35

Can’t bear it! Wish it would just go away

Mirrorxxx · 09/07/2025 17:35

Dreading it. More feral children screaming outside until midnight

Lookingforwardto2025 · 09/07/2025 17:35

Dreading Saturday as am supervising Cubs and Beavers all day at an area camp. Will be ok the other days, will swim in the river and have the air con on overnight. Will eat plenty of ice creams.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 09/07/2025 17:37

I’ve just walked though a field at the back of me, by now normally crops would be growing but today they looked really, really patch. Food prices will go up unless we get lots of rain.

Cannongoose · 09/07/2025 17:38

I wouldn’t care about it too much as I’ve become used to it IF my daughter could sleep (I’m exhausted!) and most of my plants weren’t dying. I’m going to have to change how I garden completely because everything is shrivelling and dying. Planning a desert type garden isn’t my taste but I guess there’s not much other choice

We bought ours from John Lewis. We bought 5 so it worked out quite pricey but they’re the best purchase we’ve ever made.

CharlieUniformNovemberTangoYankee · 09/07/2025 17:40

I love it. Floating about in shorts and flip flops. Pottering about in the garden, completing outdoor projects I'd never do otherwise. Washing out and dried in jig time. Going to a festival on Saturday, knowing that the sun is going to shine. Life's simple pleasures.

Waitingfordoggo · 09/07/2025 17:42

I’m not too worried because I live right by the beach and it’s usually a few degrees cooler here than it is inland. Also we have a free-standing AC unit in our bedroom and it’s awesome. (Yes, I do worry about the environment. We use it sparingly. We also have solar panels and an EV and hardly ever use our tumble drier).

xWildFlowerx · 09/07/2025 17:46

I hate it. I always feel really unwell when I go in the sun when it's hot (and I have to do school pick up so I can't avoid it). When it's about 28 degrees or more I'd ideally just not go outside at all. If there's clouds then it's not as bad as when it's just sun.

forthistimeonly · 09/07/2025 17:49

I love it! I'm by the SE coast so get a breeze. It's glorious. In London tomorrow though so that will probably be a bit uncomfortable. But I love it here.

feellikeanalien · 09/07/2025 17:02

Can't wait. I've had the fire on a bit recently which is really not on in July.😁

Are you in Donegal by any chance?

Last summer was pretty bad if you like warmth and heat. Easy to google and check back. Unless you were in some random microclimate part of the UK.

I’m happy with it up to around 30. 26ish is my preference but to be honest I’m just glad it’s not the 40 it was predicated at one point. We have had a very sunny spring and summer so far. We definitely could do with some overnight rain though. That is a worry

Delatron · 09/07/2025 17:53

It’s nice to finally wear all my summers dresses too. That did not happen last year. Just wish I had air con and a pool…

maddiemookins16mum · 09/07/2025 17:53

Mixed feelings. It’s the poor sleep I struggle with and it affects my concentration at work. Plus my home office was 32 degrees last week, I was on the verge if tears as needed to finish a project and I really struggled. That said, it’s Autumn in less than 3 months and I want to enjoy the sun and warmth whilst I can.

Trentdarkmore · 09/07/2025 17:55

Scared.
I'm on meds that cause difficulty regulating my body temperature. I can just about manage 22 degrees with a breeze. We're predicted 30 on Saturday, and I don't think i will be able to leave the house. It also makes it difficult for me to breathe (i have asthma). The brightness gives me migraines so I will be stuck in with the curtains closed and fan on, sweating like a pig.
