Virginia Giuffre (TW: suicide)

It’s being reported that Virginia Roberts Giuffre has died by suicide.

I hope Prince Andrew’s shady supporters won’t try to make hay from this. They’ve been revolting recently about her evident trauma.

I had no idea that she was a recruiter of girls for Epstein. Is this true?

Yes. Let’s not get into how abuse and grooming works.

That turned out to be inaccurate. But she has clearly been in distress and experienced a recent marriage breakdown on top of the RTA.

She blew that up out of all proportion according the the woman who was driving the car, and the man driving the bus. The car only needed a few hundred dollars to fix it, she has been described as a 'fantasist' by people that knew her.

TulaOfDarkWater · 26/04/2025 08:57

Why is everyone blaming the Queen for the settlement? The truth is we don’t know who funded it and there have also been several reports that it was actually Charles who encouraged Andrew to settle AND provided the money. One could argue he knew the start of his reign was nearing and didn’t want it to drag on, he just wanted it done and dusted while under the Queen’s watch.

While the Queen was alive Andrew kept a low profile but with Charles as King he’s obviously back in the fold, featuring at events (he was all dolled up at the Coronation) and even Fergie is publicly back in so if anything, I’d say it points to Charles!

And before anyone says Charles wouldn’t have acted without the Queens approval, his history says otherwise.

Zone2NorthLondon · 26/04/2025 08:57

Recruiter of girls,No
vulnerable,manipulated,coerced and groomed Yes
Unfortunately this is how abuse manifests itself

ConstitutionHill · 26/04/2025 08:59

I suspect her new life in AUS was not as settled as it may have appeared. Once that cash was in her bank account there would have been plenty around her, trying to get their hands on some of it. As with many abuse survivors there is a vulnerability to her.

UrsulasHerbBag · 26/04/2025 09:02

Poor poor woman. As a young girl she deserved better. As an adult woman she deserved better. Like the other countless women abused and ruined by men with power, they all deserved better. When will it stop? How can it be stopped? Young women and children across the world are still in these situations and still being abused. Instead of tearing this broken young woman apart I wish we could fix what went wrong instead but I’ve no idea where to begin.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 26/04/2025 09:04

This has actually made me feel very sad. Sad

I know people have mixed opinions about her, but this is devastating news. I think she really struggled with her mental health, and struggled with life in general.

How sad, that she felt she had no choice other than to take her own life to escape her life, and all the abuse she has received from so many people. Only 41 too. Just 41...... Devastating. 😢

It's just a shame - people carry scars from the past but I thought she was happy with her family and work

Exactly! The majority of the hate and vitriol is based on her not being believed, and being called a liar. No wonder so many girls and women don't report rape and sexual abuse. Look at the young actress who came out and told people how Marylin Manson abused her. (Evan Rachel Wood) It ruined her career. She struggled to get any acting work now. She said he raped her, she wasn't believed, end of career. He's all right though. Nice and rich and cosy in his big house.

Fix poverty.
Intergenerational trauma.
Cycles of abuse.
The education system to keep people in school.

I mean huge. You could start with parenting courses. Because unfortunately and not pointing the blame but parenting failure was the reason she was vulnerable in the first place. But that was also probably linked to poverty and intergenerational trauma.

Where do things begin?

Also a much more complex story. She was a child star, I remember her when I was young on a TV show playing an anorexic teen. What was her background like. There is a reason she was vulnerable to Manson. She also lost custody of her child with Jamie Bell. No schooling from 12. Mother moved after divorce to help her career. Should not happen to a kid.

pimplebum · 26/04/2025 09:28

The royal family have people in Australia.... Everywhere actually.
This is terrible but I wouldn't be so sure it was a self inflicted suicide, she was a strong woman on her way to recovery.

In what way do the royal family “have people everywhere “? 😆 like hired assassin waiting to kill anyone who crosses them ? why would anyone in the royal family want her bumped off? Makes no sense ? as then there’s more publicity and scandal surely much better she lives quietly or even better for them if she looks a bit bonkers. In what way is prince Andrew benefiting from her death? she had signed an iron clad NDA in exchange for 12 million , and was being quiet on the other side of the world , could not have been more perfect for PA !

she was clearly having a mental health crisis and under a great deal of strain .
poor woman may she rest in peace and can all the nutty conspiracy theorists take a rational deep breath before posting hurtful
nutty drivel

Yes. Let’s not get into how abuse and grooming works.

Why so sarcastic? I never head that she recruited, it's not how her sad story is usually portrayed. Some say GM was groomed due to her abusive nasty father.

It's absolutely tragic. But recruiting add additional complexity, she must have felt so guilty luring other young vulnerable girls into a hellish life of exploitation and trafficking.

Her parents failed her first. Her brother must be going through hell. Poor soul, may she rest in peace.

He goes to family things. He is entitled. Sarah does too. They don’t include her in matters of state. Sarah’s problem was Phillip hated her. On a family front. Leave them at it. He ain’t flying around representing the British people. Charles is also no push over. Tried to get him in a more appropriate house. Turfed Meghan and Harry from their place and really why should they have it they do not work for them. Refused to keep bank rolling Harry. Sure the 2 nieces get homes but to be honest they also do a lot of a charity work off their own bat and in one way you can see that as payment. Without claiming they are working royals.

I’m not being sarcastic. I’m being honest. It happens all the time. They don’t realise they are actually being abused. Or it becomes normative behaviour. Her relationship with that operation was hughly complex which is why if it went to court it would not have gone well for her. But she was a victim.

There is a reason she wasn’t considered a ‘good’ witness in the GM case. Did all girls abused by GE do that? No. She was mentioned in the GM court case and depositions too. Abused women often don’t protect their children. In fact they don’t now as the law states a witness to abuse is also abused. These things are linked to childhood, esteem, grooming, normative behaviour.

People are free to think what they like. However, question why it is so hard to get any kind of conviction for what is traditionally seen as a crime against women.

Your choice of words is missing the point. Recruiter sounds planned & complicit
Her links and association with the other girls is complex as they are all coerced, cajoled, leant upon as a result of trauma. It’s a well known pattern of abusers, they manipulate, and psychologically control women and coerce and normalise deviance.

DontTellMeWhat2Do · 26/04/2025 09:42

I personally have never believed she was sexually assaulted by PA and that he was guilty only of stupidity. That doesn't mean I don't consider her a victim of Epstein but that specific element I struggled to believe. As someone with MH difficulties and family members with MH difficulties, I know that at times it can make people misremember facts. Nevertheless, her death is very sad.

guinnessguzzler · 26/04/2025 09:43

This is so very sad and I so hoped she would be able to get the support she needed to find a way to live a happy and fulfilling life. Understandably, it was far too much for her to take.

Whatever happened to immediately cause her death, I know Maxwell, Epstein, Prince Andrew and all the men who abused her to be ultimately responsible for it. They all have her blood on their hands.

Love to her children.

Abhannmor · 26/04/2025 09:53

I think she took her life. I also think the RF are a shady af organisation of self protection, deceit, money grabbing lowlife who have ridden the wave of public adulation to line their pockets , perpetuate a lineage that is not held responsible, have life long roles regardless of skill or talent and bestow titles and honour to their closest

its an anachronistic system whose time has long past. There will never be true democracy or equality if there is a family who dwell in the upper echelons who can not be touched , whose position is permanent and automatically granted who are graced with privilege for no reason other than fluke of birth.

I agree.
I was weirdly upset by this too ( I know nothing about her aside from the news).

She had access to money and resources that should help with the abuse she suffered and yet it didn’t. How hard must it have been for her.

Lampzade · Today 06:32
Lady Victoria Hervey is a heartless human being . She has commented on this death by stating that ‘when your lies catch up with you there is no way out’
I always thought that VH was a pointless waste of space . What a cruel woman

She once said that the homeless should go and spend the winter in the Caribbean, where it's warmer.

She's nothing but a rich, spoiled compassion vacuum.

Why did the Queen stump up £12m to shut her up then?
