It’s being reported that Virginia Roberts Giuffre has died by suicide.

I hope Prince Andrew’s shady supporters won’t try to make hay from this. They’ve been revolting recently about her evident trauma.

No, she wasn’t.

There was a very minor incident where a car she was in clipped a bus bumper but didn’t cause any damage. Virginia then posted a photo of herself, allegedly in hospital, saying basically that a bus had ploughed into her and she had 4 days left to live. Lots of indications to suggest the photo had been heavily doctored and independent facts didn’t seem to back up her version of events.

In her post, she said she was ready to die but wanted to see her children one last time.

No one knows what that whole bus episode was about - and there was lots of backtracking/changing the story attempted afterwards when she was very patently not in the critical state she claimed - but at the time, it did feel like a desperate attempt to get her kids to see her.

She was estranged from her kids, and there was a restraining order in place preventing her from contacting her husband.

No idea what’s been going on in her life tbh, but it certainly seems that she was a troubled soul, with her problems just spiralling.

Absolutely not saying any of this to be malicious, but I think it’s important to be clearheaded, and not ignore uncomfortable truths just because of a tragedy. And it is such a tragedy - it seems that she never found peace or happiness. Really bloody sad.

That’s certainly what some people wanted us to believe. And now she’s taken her life so it all makes sense right? Hmm. I don’t believe any of it.

The police did. Her family did. She herself said she had posted the “days to live” claim “mistakenly”.

Some tried to use the situation to discredit her or call her a liar. But she was already estranged from her DH & DC by the time of the RTA, she was badly bruised and shaken, and clearly there was a lot going on. All of that on top of a lifetime of trauma.

I hope she gets more respect and consideration now.

We all like to think that awful stories will have happy endings. BUT traumatised people are “troubled”. Complex trauma has complex effects. I don’t think it’s discrediting her to acknowledge that. She was wounded, but she was nevertheless a very strong and inspirational woman.

Ah okay. I saw the police statement saying that they had reports of a minor incident and no injuries had been reported but I didn't see anything outwardly saying she was incorrect.

I hope wherever she is is kinder than this world has been to her.

I relate to the feeling. You've experienced so much pain that there's just little point to continue.

What a sad ending but this is the real affect abuse has on women and children.

I hope we can remember her for her bravery and courage.

She was the one saying all over instagram that she had four days to live and then she was discharged two days later.

The bus driver gave an entirely different version of events to her’s.

And her husband had a restraining order against her.

I have no time for Andrew, but it’s a lot more complicated than saying Andrew’s team will be spinning the story about her. There are far more complex relationships and circumstances involved here, and it’s likely a lot more is going to come out which have nothing to do with Andrew and his ilk.

It’s her children I feel sorry for.

Sure but that doesn't mean she was lying.

It is indeed complex. A girl was sexually abused by the elite and you think her life after would run smoothly?

Bless her, she endured so much trauma in her life. I hope she is now at peace.

I hope it wasn’t seeing that swarmy git Andrew making the rounds on Easter that took her to the brink.

And she’d already been serially abused before she met Epstein. Which is also often the case for abuse victims; They are at risk of being revictimised.

So sad to read this. She must have been such a very brave person to pursue her case and had endured such a great deal. Sympathies to her family especially her three children, how devastating this will be.

Absolutely. She survived that far. Using the word, survived, loosely.

So terrible. I actually started a thread in the Royal Family section and then thought more people would see it here so I came to start one. I feel really shocked, which I know is irrelevant but she had been so very brave.

I actually think it was the estrangement from her children which was on the uppermost of her mind and I think when they didn’t come to see her in hospital after she posted the dramatic 3 days to live video.

I think she realised then they really weren’t part of her life anymore.
