If I were to pop over to your house right now, what would you offer me?

(This being MN, that's assuming you'd let me in!
Also assuming we knew each other, and not just total internet randoms😅)

Interested to see if you would use this opportunity to get rid of most of your Christmas goodies like I am doing when people have stopped by.

Here, you would be offered any of the following - 2 boxes of Fox's classics biscuits, a box of McVities Victoria biscuits, Waitrose classic panettone, a tin of Royal dansk danish butter cookies, 2 boxes Thornton classic, an After Eight Selection box, a large tray of Ferrero Rocher and a box of Guylian deluxe seashells - all unopened!

(Don't worry, a couple of these will go to work with me tomorrow to be shared with colleagues and the rest will be going to my neighbour who organises the local food bank donation boxes)

You'd also have a choice of a variety of teas and coffees, prosecco or Bucks Fizz!

Stollen (not left over, bought it yesterday - its cheap at Sains right now)
Home made orange and lime scones
Austrian Biscuits
Jaffa Cakes

Pinknailpen · 05/01/2025 12:47

Our would be a similar offering lots of chocolate and biscuits.
we seem to have been gifted a huge amount of hot chocolate and related items marshmallows, sprinkles etc so a hot chocolate would be on the cards.
we have lots of wine and beer left over too

Optigan · 05/01/2025 12:47

No Christmas leftovers here! You could have tea (choice of three types), instant coffee, fruit juice or sparkling apple juice. If you wanted a snack we have biscuits or individual fruit pies.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 05/01/2025 12:48

Christmas leftovers gone. You could have tea/coffee and a biscuit

category12 · 05/01/2025 12:48

Bit of watermelon and a biscuit.

TotemPolly · 05/01/2025 12:49

You could have some Stollen , it was only opened 2 days ago so still nice .
Have loads of crackers and cheese still .
Went shopping in M & S yesterday , ended up with 8 individual Christmas puddings @ 22p each so your welcome to have one of them .
I also have 1 homemade mince pie left and it's yours if you want it !

DelphiniumBlue · 05/01/2025 12:49

Coffee or tea, or port! We've got loads of port, but no snacks left. I've got soup, though, you could have some of that!

KvotheTheBloodless · 05/01/2025 12:50

Tea/coffee and a freshly baked gf cake. Also random boxes of chocolates we don't like, wine we don't drink, plus bags of lebkuchen to take home.

Bonjovispyjamas · 05/01/2025 12:51

I'm on my way 🏃‍♀️ Nothing much left to offer you here I'm afraid, but I can offer you a cat for your lap 😸

MadamePeriwinkle · 05/01/2025 12:52

Not that much left over here at all, and what is will probably be dispatched back to uni with DD next weekend.

TiredEyesToday · 05/01/2025 12:52

My mum’s home made Christmas cake (we’ve not started it yet, in fact have just cut in half and frozen half) and a glass of fizz … everything else Christmassy has been eaten or chucked now. There might be a few stale mince pies.

DustyMaiden · 05/01/2025 12:53

DH is cooking brunch . No Christmas leftovers. You can have tea, coffee, juice, squash. Home made lemon cake. Pineapple upside down cake. If you get here bet DD does.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 05/01/2025 12:53

Similar here, but I'm keen to put it all in one place out if view and let it be treats for the next few months, but DH is keen to smash through it all before going back to healthy eating. We're both on mounjaro so can't overindulgence without feeling crap either anyway!

Doggymummar · 05/01/2025 12:54

A choice from about 13 different unopened boxes of chocolates, 2 choices of biscuits or pic n mix of all the opened boxes. 15 different crisps and savouries and a cheese bundle to take home with a box of minepies. Hurry up I need a clear out

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 05/01/2025 12:54

@DebbieTheCat a duster!

idontlikefruitpastilles · 05/01/2025 12:54

Honeydew melon, or shortbread. tea, coffee, water. If you want to stay for tea I'm making a nice gnocchi thing.

Namechangetheyarewatching · 05/01/2025 12:54

Just about to sit down to a lamb roast, so you would be more than welcome to that..

We don't tend to go overboard on crap

Itsaswelltime · 05/01/2025 12:55

We haven’t been shopping for sooo long. I had to do a quick run to the local supermarket under the icy rain last night so the DC could finally have a dinner that wasn’t pasta.

We have a mixture for crêpes in the fridge that I made this morning so I would offer you a crêpe, with butter, sugar, lemon juice, chestnut paste, or fake, posh Nutella.

Otherwise a banana that’s on the turn, a cup of homemade chocolate, or a green tea or coffee or decaff coffee or tap water or a non alcoholic beer (if any left, I never check as they give me the shits.)

The large box of chocolates DMIL gave « me » at Christmas is on the table but I’m pretty sure it just contains the wrappers / decorative paper that the DC have artfully arranged.

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 05/01/2025 12:55

About 15 dinky deckers.

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 05/01/2025 12:55

The opportunity to do my washing up

I will even let you hoover my carpets

When can you come over?

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 05/01/2025 12:56

We also unfortunately had a party cancelled due to illness and have loads of crisps left, but they'll keep unless DH gets there first

BCBird · 05/01/2025 12:56

Didn't buy much Christmas stuff, as was away. U could have camembert and cheese oatcakes and half an individual gluten free Christmas pudding? If that not tempting enough i could promise you a nice cup of tea and a laugh and a joke too?😁

DatingDinosaur · 05/01/2025 12:56

Some glass cleaner and a cloth Grin

I'm in housework mode on this drab, rainy (and definitely no snow) day.

Then I might offer you a cuppa and luxury chocolate biscuit or two.

SamuelDJackson · 05/01/2025 12:57

Im on Mumsnet so I never answer the door

But if you did come over I would offer you - good tea, average coffee, or hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows because its snowing.
Whisky, spiced mead or a really lovely sherry if a drink seemed appropriate

Kransekage or the remnants of a homemade Dundee cake that was my Christmas cake substitute this year. Various lovely leftover Jule things like chocolate covered marzipan, liqueur chocolates, homemade ginger biscuits, christmas konfect (nougat/marzipan and jelly based sweets).
Also salted licorice if you were a masochist or had no tastebuds

Not in the UK and would absolutely kill for a Jaffa cake right now

liveforsummer · 05/01/2025 12:57

I'm about to make soup so if you hang on a bit you'd get offered a bowl of that. It will also then be an acceptable time to have a drink if you fancy one. Not much chocolate left unfortunately
