If I were to pop over to your house right now, what would you offer me?

(This being MN, that's assuming you'd let me in!
Also assuming we knew each other, and not just total internet randoms😅)

Interested to see if you would use this opportunity to get rid of most of your Christmas goodies like I am doing when people have stopped by.

Here, you would be offered any of the following - 2 boxes of Fox's classics biscuits, a box of McVities Victoria biscuits, Waitrose classic panettone, a tin of Royal dansk danish butter cookies, 2 boxes Thornton classic, an After Eight Selection box, a large tray of Ferrero Rocher and a box of Guylian deluxe seashells - all unopened!

(Don't worry, a couple of these will go to work with me tomorrow to be shared with colleagues and the rest will be going to my neighbour who organises the local food bank donation boxes)

You'd also have a choice of a variety of teas and coffees, prosecco or Bucks Fizz!

I have just forced my kids to help me clean the last of the Christmas detritus out of the kitchen (bar a couple of bags of rubbish that I'll need to take to the tip because DH put the wrong bin out - twice - even thought I told him and sent him a picture of the flyer from the council...anyway, where was I?) so although I'm not dressed and probably stink, definitely look a state, I can offer you hot beverage of choice and a biscuit. I also did the big shop yesterday but I'd rather not make you anything too substantial! Grin

Cheese board and selection of crackers, chocolates, lots of fresh fruit, and I've got a whole turkey and a turkey crown in my freezer and pigs in blankets I got all of those for half price on Xmas Eve after already having bought my turkey for Xmas day. I also have 2 large cakes one lemon drizzle and one white chocolate and raspberries sponge cake. Plenty of wine, prosecco, Captain Morgan's, dry Martini and Amoretto here too or hot chocolate, tea or coffee as well as general food. I've still got an 8p swede left I bought on Xmas Eve too and a few potatoes.

BeeCucumber · 05/01/2025 13:38

I’ve got slow cooked leek and potato soup and some home made crusty bread or cheese and bacon scones if you’d rather. Followed by a slab of black cherry and dark chocolate flapjack and a mug of builders tea.

MrsSethGecko · 05/01/2025 13:38

Louise Parker broccoli soup, couple of Ryvita, lucky dip in the leftover Roses.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 05/01/2025 13:38

Cheese. I was supposed to have friends coming around for the evening and was going to do a cheeseboard, got a load of cheese which was reduced after Christmas but then ended up having to cancel so I now have loads of cheese left. I’m quite fussy with cheese and don’t like most of the cheeses, will probably only eat the cheddar, so would be happy to give it away to any visitors!

username0763 · 05/01/2025 13:39

A sandwich
Cheese toastie
Hummus and biscuits
Selection of tea, cordial, coffee or grapefruit juice

MrsSethGecko · 05/01/2025 13:39

@BeeCucumber please can I have the flapjack recipe?

BunnyLake · 05/01/2025 13:40

A mince pie or three. We have too many and it seems no one likes them anymore. I can’t eat them as I’m cutting carbs after Christmas.

thrifty24 · 05/01/2025 13:41

Tea or coffee and some biscuits or rosemary crackers with goats cheese or truffle cheese and chutney or
Glass of white or red wine
Mini croissant, scrambled egg
Excited to do my clean food shop later

CalicoPusscat · 05/01/2025 13:41

You can't, I have norovirus/bug!

Miq · 05/01/2025 13:48

A... full feast for Nollaig ma mBan

AyrnotAir · 05/01/2025 13:50

Our Xmas leftovers consist of Tin of m&s shortbread, tin of dairy milk, big bag of individually wrapped chocolate orange segments, cheese - lots and lots of cheese and crackers, couple of packs of peanuts, one of those packs of savoury snacks with the pretzels in, dark fruit strongbow, couple bottles of red wine and a massive amount of blue wkd my sil brought for some reason and no one even looked at. Sticky toffee pudding and that's it. You could have some tea, coffee or juice.

christmaslatte · 05/01/2025 13:55

Plenty of Christmas booze left - gin, mulled wine, prosecco and and Baileys, so we could get very merry indeed.

Not a lot of Christmas food left though, other than some delicious cheese.

We've got broccoli coming in our supermarket order today so DP can make his delicious Broccoli and Stilton soup with the large amount of leftover stilton.

Ooh, and you've reminded me there is one box of truffles still, but you better get round here quick as it won't be here for long now I've remembered about it!

ChristmasCwtch · 05/01/2025 13:56

A cuppa and a slice of Christmas cake that I forgot we were given!!

Glasgow1996 · 05/01/2025 13:57

Chocolate brownie with vanilla icecream or waffles

TobleroneWrestling · 05/01/2025 13:57

We live in the country so you'd have to come to the back door to gain admittance.

If you'd come yesterday, it would have been sandwiches made from 9 day old turkey and leftover cranberry and apple sauces. It's gone today though.

DancefloorAcrobatics · 05/01/2025 13:58

No Christmas leftovers except some marzipan.

But I have just made lunch for work - Messy potato salad 'Florentine'- I'd offer you some of that with water or coffee, your choice!

LindorDoubleChoc · 05/01/2025 13:59

We have two mince pies left here, so you could have one of those but I can't offer any cream. Oh and I've got half a box of Lindor chocs left but I'm hiding those in the bedroom away from my family, so I probably wouldn't offer you one.

We've got a full drinks cupboard so you could have more or less anything you fancy to drink but you'd be on your own (I'm doing dry January).

Coffee and three or four types of tea.

I'm so glad we don't have tons of leftovers - but we did seem to get through an enormous amount of food!

Jasmin71 · 05/01/2025 14:02

A snow shovel

LindorDoubleChoc · 05/01/2025 14:02

Black cherry and dark chocolate flapjack - intrigued! Sounds lush.

MyNewLife2025 · 05/01/2025 14:04

None of that!! It has all been eaten by two hungry caterpillars, aka young adult ds. 😆😆

I don’t think we’ve had anything left at this time e of the year for about 10 years now. Can’t see it changing either 😂

TubeScreamer · 05/01/2025 14:04

Christmas cake or biscuits

Eldermillenialyogi · 05/01/2025 14:06

You'd offer all of the biscuits?

Here you would be offered a tea, coffee, velvetised hot chocolate or cold drink along with a selection of biscuits

Hoppinggreen · 05/01/2025 14:11

DebbieTheCat · 05/01/2025 13:10

You're all so kind and generous!
Loving all tbe offers of hearty soups and hot meals, you're my kind of host!

@Datesandprunes however you like! If you were to come to mine, I'd be hoping you'd eat your way through a box and I would be sending you home with another 😂
(None of these were bought by us, all were gifts)

I'm surprised no one has offered me their DC yet but I'll gladly cuddle the proffered lap cat.
Happy to get stuck in with the housework in exchange for a bowl of soup or a plate of roast lamb or gnocchi!

If you want to try and cuddle DD I would suggest a cat may be a better option (hates being touched unless its on her own terms). DS would happily cuddle you but he is large and clumsy and over enthusiastic
Basically I gave birth to a cat and a dog

Discombobble · 05/01/2025 14:12

Tea, coffee, left over mince pies, chocolate ginger biscuits. Or G&T depending on time of day and type of guest
