If I were to pop over to your house right now, what would you offer me?

(This being MN, that's assuming you'd let me in!
Also assuming we knew each other, and not just total internet randoms😅)

Interested to see if you would use this opportunity to get rid of most of your Christmas goodies like I am doing when people have stopped by.

Here, you would be offered any of the following - 2 boxes of Fox's classics biscuits, a box of McVities Victoria biscuits, Waitrose classic panettone, a tin of Royal dansk danish butter cookies, 2 boxes Thornton classic, an After Eight Selection box, a large tray of Ferrero Rocher and a box of Guylian deluxe seashells - all unopened!

(Don't worry, a couple of these will go to work with me tomorrow to be shared with colleagues and the rest will be going to my neighbour who organises the local food bank donation boxes)

You'd also have a choice of a variety of teas and coffees, prosecco or Bucks Fizz!

Why do you need to get rid of leftovers? Don't you just nibble away at them gradually throughtout the next few months? Chocolates and biscuits keep for ages.

Bumcake · 05/01/2025 14:14

Hot chocolate and stollen. I’d hide my last slice of Yule log though, that’s for elevenses tomorrow to ease me back into work.

Ihopeyouhavent · 05/01/2025 14:15

Nothing, because i wouldnt answer the door!!

tinytemper66 · 05/01/2025 14:15

After 8s, earl grey and gin Christmas cake, quality street and celebrations plus some nice biscuits 🍪

ForeverinBJ · 05/01/2025 14:15

The shite ones left of the Roses
Chicken Liver Parfait
Bread sauce

CoastalCalm · 05/01/2025 14:16

Oh god we are still overloaded with goodies all gifted apart from a Dundee cake DH insisted on making and has so far had one small piece.

Ringtons biscuits
Boxes of chocolates
A very random bottle of tequila rose
Turkish Delight
Delias spiced nuts
2 kg of jelly sweets
Japanese snack box
Australian snack box

menopausalfart · 05/01/2025 14:17

I very rarely answer the door, but if I did, you would not have any of my precious bread now that snow is forecast.

stayathomer · 05/01/2025 14:18

We definitely didn’t buy enough Christmas biccies! (Next year will buy and hide well!)

Bumcake · 05/01/2025 14:19

BeeCucumber · 05/01/2025 13:38

I’ve got slow cooked leek and potato soup and some home made crusty bread or cheese and bacon scones if you’d rather. Followed by a slab of black cherry and dark chocolate flapjack and a mug of builders tea.

This sounds dreamy, I’m on my way.

SnowFrogJelly · 05/01/2025 13:24

Sex 😂

Yikes. No biscuits?

LouisvilleSlugger · 05/01/2025 13:12

Nothing sweet as I threw out chocs/biscuits yesterday.

Tea or coffee?

I don't understand why you would throw out chocolate / biscuits. How wasteful

Surely it would be better to offer them to a neighbour if you won't eat them yourself

mummysontheginalready · 05/01/2025 14:25

no goodies here combination of freezer breaking down and my business having to close pre xmas we are struggling to manage so fridge has a lemon and some marg in it cupboard has some pasta and few jars 50p pasta sauce some rice um think thats about it not sure when we can go shopping again but you could have a cup of tea or coffee squash or water! anyway if you were hungry you would be welcome to have pasta with us

ChristmasKelpie · 05/01/2025 14:28

No Christmas left overs here. Pop in and you can have a hot drink and cake or shortbread, a choice of carrot & coriander soup or chicken and rice( both made yesterday) with sourdough bread or a sandwich. If you are really hungry but can wait a while i have a beef casserole in the slow cooker, it has dumplings, carrots and white turnips to go with it. Or i can defrost curry, lasagne and a few other dishes if you would rather. You sit by the fire and warm yourself whilst i dish it up.

Disgustin · 05/01/2025 14:29

Nothing. I have some sort of cold/flu/chest infection hybrid so you will be told to leave me alone. I also might cry as well as I'm feeling really sorry for myself.

ItsAMario · 05/01/2025 14:31

Either a coffee with soya milk, a peppermint tea or a glass of water as this is all we drink. I probably have some teabags which are a couple of years old in the back of the cupboard somewhere. We have rich teas in the biscuit tin. The only person who ever pops by is my Mother (like twice a year) and would turn all 3 down and she only drinks cordial or tea with dairy milk.

My friends are not people who call over to each others houses so I would be absolutely unprepared for this and be a terrible host!

DelphiniumBlue · 05/01/2025 12:49

Coffee or tea, or port! We've got loads of port, but no snacks left. I've got soup, though, you could have some of that!

Yep soup here too.

Leek & potato if it takes your fancy.

Aw, I'm feeling pretty shit too. But it looks like I can keep water down now (hopefully)

honeylulu · 05/01/2025 14:39

Fruitcake, gingerbread, shortbread, Turkish delight, nougat and a mixed bowl of chocs and fudge.
Tea/coffee. Port. Gin n Tonic. Am trying to do semi dry January so would avoid opening wine/fizz.

hereismydog · 05/01/2025 14:40

You’d be handed a very squishy 2 week old boy to cuddle while I run off upstairs for a nap!

He’s delightful, you’d enjoy yourself very much Smile

LaughingCat · 05/01/2025 14:55

I’ve got a tube of salt and vinegar Pringles, a single crumpet, three tins of reduced-sugar rice pudding and some Nutella? We’re running uber-low on everything here!

Meadowfinch · 05/01/2025 14:56

Decent coffee and a freshly made mince pie.

Much as I love chocolate etc this one might be the most tempting
Congrats @hereismydog , I have 2 xmas babies myself (grown up now)

I really can’t imagine going round to my terribly fancy neighbours to offer them the toffees from a tin of quality street, half a pack of stroopwafels, a mince pie, and some half opened packets of biscuits 😂😂

AxolotlEars · 05/01/2025 15:08

Roast beef dinner 🙂

DebbieTheCat · 05/01/2025 15:29

Hope you both feel better soon @CalicoPusscat and @Disgustin
I would bring you hot soup and anything else you'd need me to pick up!

@hereismydog Aaww! Congratulations on your Christmas baby! I'd gladly cuddle him for as long as you need to get some decent sleep in.
If he naps, I would quietly do anything else that needs doing too.
I've been secretly hoping for some baby cuddles.
@Hoppinggreen your two are next on my round 😂
