Just finished building a stupid trike and wrapped the last of the presents. I'm not doing dinner but my contributions dishes are sorted.

Just now got to clean up and ive ran out of steam.

Say it every year but I really need to be better organised. I normally like wrapping presents on Xmas eve when kids are in bed but I'm getting too old for this 🤦‍♀️

I just can't sleep. I've not been as busy as you, I've spent hours staring at the bedroom ceiling listening to dh sleeping soundly. I don't even feel drowsy. I think I'm too excited about tomorrow.

Same…I just can’t sleep, I’m excited but now I’m annoyed at myself because I’ll be wrecked tomorrow 😭

TulipTuesday · 25/12/2024 01:29

I’m still up.
I’ve been really good this year and got all the wrapping done nice and early, but I still had to bring the presents downstairs once everyone was in bed. I had a tidy round and sat down for a bit but didn’t feel tired.

Now I’ve got an upset stomach 🙄 We had Chinese for tea, I haven’t eaten anything fatty for months due to gallstones, but even though I only had a bit, my stomach is not happy. That’ll be me hovering near the loo for a bit longer yet.

Just had a little tidy and put the presents under the tree. Stuffing my face and watching a Christmas film now. I'm sure I'll regret it when I get woken up at stupid o'clock in the morning by the kids.

Accidentallyrude · 25/12/2024 01:30

Children still bloody awake! I've had to set an alarm for 4am to do stockings.

ChronicallySleepy · 25/12/2024 01:31

We're just heading to bed. Kids stockings are filled, gifts under the tree. Taken a couple of bits out of the carrot and drink the milk on the coffee table. Kids will probably be up before 6am so hopefully I'll drift off easily

NotQuiteUsual · 25/12/2024 01:31

I'm so relieved to have some company! The dog is snoring now which isn't helping my efforts at falling asleep.

aramox1 · 25/12/2024 01:31

Woken up by drunk teenager. How times have changed

DappledThings · 25/12/2024 01:33

Got back from midnight mass and still awake.

I won't get 5 minutes of quiet time for the next 48 hours so feeling the need to enjoy it now.

Looking forward to 27th when others go home.

Jingleberryalltheway · 25/12/2024 01:34

I’m awake. Went to bed around 10.30 and my 8 yrs old who doesn’t sleep well wols up. I spent 2 hours in bed with her until she fell asleep only to wake up myself an hour later with a sore, throat, cold and a headache. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

polkadotchristmas · 25/12/2024 01:34

My drunk teen came in by stealth and look half pleased and half disappointed to find mr wrapping at 11pm. Just climbed into bed and am buzzing. In a bad way !
Hope we all get some sleep

I loved the days when I was that drunken teenager. Life was so much simpler.

At least they have come home. Which one year I failed to do and got into alot of trouble from my mum 🤣

Still up, but heading to bed shortly.

My late husband and I used to stay up to midnight to toast Christmas (and the same for New Year). I took part in a Zoom service today until midnight, had a drink and toasted DH.

Really need to head off. Decompressing by watching a bit of daft tv.

BankHolidayReset · 25/12/2024 01:35

I'm awake but working. My christmases with my DC are not as fun as the ones I had with my parents and feel a bit guilty. House is a mess as I had to work today as well and DP is incapable of making things nice and tidy.

Love the fact you can't sleep as your too excited.

Christmas is magical. I suppose that's why I'm still up doing all this crap. It will be worth it in the morning 🎅

We have 21 people staying with us. Everyone is in bed, and I was doing the finishing touches by the tree. I thought all my hard work had paid off and nothing could go wrong. An hour later and I'm pretty sure norovirus has hit because my sister and I are both throwing up and 2 kids are complaining of a stomach ache.

Oh, I'm sorry. :(

BearBuggy · 25/12/2024 01:37

Not Up but awake. Can’t sleep as kids struggled to go down and one kept checking his stocking every 10 mins.
Normally fill them when they are asleep but holding off. Need to rethink this stocking malarkey next year !

Wide awake after coming to bed at 9.30, already had 5yo DD up asking if Santa has been yet. She's just gone back to sleep so hopefully that will be her at least for another 4/5 hours I hope! Going to try get some sleep myself before the chaos begins

Yellowcakestand · 25/12/2024 01:39

Me. Just finished wrapping x

creamsnugjumper · 25/12/2024 01:39

I'm up, chest infection is still in full swing. But my head is buzzing and I'm excited as for the first year even though I feel shit I've got a table that looks lovely .

I've also just been told that I have an extra teen arriving for the whole day, my DS has just discovered his mate is home alone and promptly invited him over. That will teach me raising my kids to be kind, lucky we will have more than enough food to go around and he's lovely.

So it's a bit of a budge up on the table but we will feed and give him a fun day.

This is exactly it.

My daughter wouldn't go to sleep till nearly 10pm so it's put me back.

Long gone are the days of 7pm bedtime. It made it so much easier

I’m wide awake. Everything done and stockings out. I’ve started with a cold and every time I get relaxed enough to sleep I cough

Happiestwhen · 25/12/2024 01:40

Me too. This Santa malarkey is getting too much for me now, I'm exhausted and stressed. Worrying about next years already and where the heck we'll store everything 🙈 Can't believe we must do this for about another 10 years!!!
