Anyone else still up at silly oclock?

Just finished building a stupid trike and wrapped the last of the presents. I'm not doing dinner but my contributions dishes are sorted.

Just now got to clean up and ive ran out of steam.

Say it every year but I really need to be better organised. I normally like wrapping presents on Xmas eve when kids are in bed but I'm getting too old for this 🤦‍♀️

Have lay awake all night a bit of a wreck after catching a virus, sleep being messed up and also still recovering from surgery I had a month ago. I had so many nice Christmas plans, mostly involving cooking, but think I'm just going to have to make some soup or something and go back to bed 😪

There are two types of people in this world.

Those who are organised and those who wrap on Christmas eve 🤣

But there seems to be a third group of people; who deliberately wrap on Christmas Eve. That's the actual plan. I don't get it.

Did all the veg prep last night, whilst DH set up the dining room and made it pretty 😍

Was in bed at 11:30, but couldn't sleep (too excited!). 12:15, little DS started to cough, took an hour to get him settled.

Then, was up at 5:30. The roast potatoes, parsnips and sweet potatoes are cooking, the beef is in the slow cooker, and the Gobble (turkey) is on the side, coming up to room temperature.

Have just had a cup of cardamom coffee and a cheese twist, by the light of the tree, and am taking a deep breath, before the wonderful chaos of the day begins.

Happy Christmas, to all!

I managed to fall asleep around half 3. I can hear the children stirring now. Can't wait for them to come in here and the fun to begin!

All’s quiet here although I’ve been awake for several hours for absolutely no reason at all 🙄
Just DH, the dog and me in the house, nothing special happening today but I’m perfectly content with that. A nice dog walk, beef roast for dinner and an afternoon of needlework and watching television or listening to audiobooks.

@creamsnugjumper Always take steroids in the morning. Learned that the hard way.

I've just learnt it the hard way.. I'm still buzzing!

I took them at 8am, 12pm and 4pm and thought I'd be OK!!

I'm hoping today's dose keeps me going. 🤣
They are great things for making your brain whizz.

Marry Christmas all. 😍

@Mymanyellow he's just tuned 20, and his folks are visiting family, they gave him the option to go with them and he chose to stay home.

But didn't let any of his friends know his plans. My DS got wind of it and asked him over so he wasn't alone!!

Curiosity piqued: Why are you cooking the potatoes etc so many hours before lunch when the turkey isn't even in the oven? Enquiring minds would like to know!

I part roast them, then pop back in the hot oven in the 30 min window after the turkey has come out and is resting.

It also means that I can snaffle any that are too crispy, during the morning.

I've gone with King Edward this year. High risk, high reward.

They are fucking spectacular
