Just finished building a stupid trike and wrapped the last of the presents. I'm not doing dinner but my contributions dishes are sorted.

Just now got to clean up and ive ran out of steam.

Say it every year but I really need to be better organised. I normally like wrapping presents on Xmas eve when kids are in bed but I'm getting too old for this 🤦‍♀️

Me too. This Santa malarkey is getting too much for me now, I'm exhausted and stressed. Worrying about next years already and where the heck we'll store everything 🙈 Can't believe we must do this for about another 10 years!!!

10 years, my mum still does a stocking for us kids and she's in her 80s 🤣

Xmasfairy86 · 25/12/2024 01:42

Yep. Too excited. Will regret it at some point but I can’t force myself to sleep!!!

still need to fill stockings, wanted to vacuum but everyone else is sleeping so decided not to. Am in bed contemplating getting up to do stockings and then attempt some sleep

SlB09 · 25/12/2024 01:42

It's been a bit of a rush as DP didn't get home from work until 8, then he did the kids' baths and bedtimes. By the time we'd cooked and eaten tea it was 10:30 so it was late before we started all the present building.

Just realised that I've totally forgotten to get the kids to write a card for their dad. He's been working the last few days and I've been off work with the kids, so I have no excuse not to have sorted it. The eldest is 4 so I'll have to supervise the card writing. Hopefully I can get them to sort it in the morning before he gets up.

Joint pain keeping me up. I’m stupidly tired.

Aww so sorry for your loss.

I'm having a baileys so will do a toast to your DH

Thank you - that's appreciated.

Happiestwhen · 25/12/2024 01:44

OP one tip for you, don't wrap the kids stuff!! Save yourself a lot of stress , it will all be ripped off in minutes anyway.

Oh no.
I am lucky in the sense once they are asleep a bomb wouldn't wake them up.

So hoovering is the next job

Yes still awake. Was so tired early evening and had a nap when we were watching a Xmas movie…it was literally half an hour with my eyes closed but I was disturbed so many times. I could barely keep my eyes open yet here I am wide awake!!

Hosting tomorrow as always. House isn’t too bad but also isn’t as tidy as
I wanted.

Was very organised this year in terms of wrapping so it was all done and in separate bags ready to put out - but it never seems enough and I always end up in bed at a stupid time!!

DappledThings · 25/12/2024 01:45

Never heard of anyone wrapping on Christmas Eve until MN last year. Can't get my head round that one.

Mxflamingnoravera · 25/12/2024 01:46

I'm just getting into bed. Still not wrapped my son's presents, but to be fair, he hasn't done mine either.

We went out for a a Thai dinner earlier, then strolled back and and made a tiramisu for tomorrow (there's only us two, but we are both foodies so we wanted it to be just right). We've spent the night watching quizzes and I've finally thrown in the towel leaving him on the sofa with reruns of QI.

I'll be up in time to wrap his stuff before I take him coffee to rouse him before visiting mum in her care home.

It's my first Christmas in my new flat and so far I'm loving it. (He isn't because we are a mile and a half away from his Dad's instead of five minutes, but he's 30 years old and can cope).

Nn and merry Christmas to all.
X

Goinggold · 25/12/2024 01:47

I've just finished stockings - I was hoping to be finished before midnight mass so I could sit and watch on TV but no luck, DC was backwards and forwards to the bathroom, with a pause to listen at the top of the stairs each time! I'm going to be so tired tomorrow. 😭 Happy Christmas everyone, sleep well.

Agreed.

Back in the '60s, my mum used to put the presents from Santa inside a pillowcase - or staged outside if (like a blackboard and easel) they were too big for the pillowcase. In those days, we didn't normally have special Christmas stockings, so Dad's work socks were used!

Twototwo15 · 25/12/2024 01:48

Still up. Just too lazy to get up and get ready for bed.

LittleBear21 · 25/12/2024 01:48

Oh yes, only finished wrapping an hour ago. Was just about to do the stocking and 8yr old DS woke up for the toilet..... Now just waiting it out. So glad I'm not the only one up! My Christmas table looks lovely though and I'm excited for the morning

Mamma27336 · 25/12/2024 01:49

I'm awake. DS didn't fall asleep until midnight, and after setting up I couldn't remember where I'd hidden one of the last presents I wrapped this morning so I was wracking my brains for an hour until I found it. DH was building a last gift too. I think I'm too tired to be excited for Christmas but feel wired all the same.

pizzaHeart · 25/12/2024 01:53

We were sitting with Baileys, everything done and ready and there was a bit on the news about Gavin and Stacey finale. DH only saw the last Christmas special so one word led to another and we ended up watching the whole series 1 on BBC player to prepare him better for tomorrow 🤣🤣🤣
heading to bed now

SoSadForPoorDH · 25/12/2024 01:55

I just woke up and crept downstairs to fill stockings/put gifts under the tree and found young adult DC has filled my Christmas stocking, all our stockings go out as decorations when we put the tree up.
It’s our first Christmas since DH died, he always filled my stocking so I expected mine to stay empty, so now I can’t go to sleep as I’m all emotional 😢
Happy Christmas everyone 🎄

maryberryslayers · 25/12/2024 01:55

Me, just got in to bed. I do it every year. But I'll miss it when they're drunken teenagers!

I woke up DS, who usually sleeps through anything, when I delivered the filled stocking, starting to regret the tradition of leaving them in their rooms!

TakeMyLifeAndLetItBe · 25/12/2024 01:55

Still awake here. Had the wonderful pleasure of attending Midnight Mass with our eldest, leaving 13mo with DH. Baby was wide awake when we got home and is now blowing raspberries on my tummy.
Dreading family drama tomorrow, would rather stay in our immediate family bubble.

CoolPlayer · 25/12/2024 01:55

Yep, still up

LaLaLamp · 25/12/2024 01:55

Yes, had to call the police as there was someone lurking in my garden. Live alone. So scared. Now heightened anxiety. Police advised to get ring doorbell and to call back if anything else happens. I'm barricaded in.
