Just finished building a stupid trike and wrapped the last of the presents. I'm not doing dinner but my contributions dishes are sorted.

Just now got to clean up and ive ran out of steam.

Say it every year but I really need to be better organised. I normally like wrapping presents on Xmas eve when kids are in bed but I'm getting too old for this 🤦‍♀️

Yes, had to call the police as there was someone lurking in my garden. Live alone. So scared. Now heightened anxiety. Police advised to get ring doorbell and to call back if anything else happens. I'm barricaded in.

Oh that's so scary! Hope you can relax enough to get some sleep tonight.

Hello! Yes having a few glasses of wine.

Never heard of anyone wrapping on Christmas Eve until MN last year. Can't get my head round that one.

Me neither. I can’t trust my children to actually go to sleep without me.

I just woke up and crept downstairs to fill stockings/put gifts under the tree and found young adult DC has filled my Christmas stocking, all our stockings go out as decorations when we put the tree up.
It’s our first Christmas since DH died, he always filled my stocking so I expected mine to stay empty, so now I can’t go to sleep as I’m all emotional 😢
Happy Christmas everyone 🎄

How bittersweet but you must be so touched

I'm still awake. At my mums and it's so stressful. Not least because she told Dd what her main present was earlier and it's annoyed me no end.

Dh snoring away and then tmro will complain how tired he is despite me doing all Xmas stuff and only recently come out of hospital.

DonaldGumbo · 25/12/2024 02:00

Still awake, just finished wrapping and actually ordered a few last minute panic gift vouchers to be emailed out. Every year when I think I can't get more last minute, I manage it!

Elderflower14 · 25/12/2024 02:00

I'm.awake as I had two glasses of wine and now have a headache.
The Christmas that Wilf was two his Dad decided to put his ELC tractor and trailer together at 8pm on Christmas Eve. The instructions for some unfathomable reason were in French.
At 10pm I cautiously opened the dining room door.
"How are you getting on darling?
" DO YOU WANT TO DO IT??? "
" Errrrr.nooooo!"
"WELL BUGGER OFF THEN!!"
I went to bed. It was nearly midnight when he came up.
Matters were not improved the next day when Wilf wanted the large empty box rather than the tractor!!! 🙊 🙊 🙊 🙊 🙊 🙊 🙊 🙊

I’m still awake. I’ve been googling how to cook the ham and have come to the conclusion that I should’ve cooked it today 🤦‍♀️

mumwithallthebooks · 25/12/2024 02:04

I had a nap earlier this evening and now can't sleep grr. My son will have us up early doors too. This is the first Christmas he has 'got it' and been excited.

I'm sorry.

So lovely that your DC is looking after you. So thoughtful of them.

Thinking of you all.

marginallyawake · 25/12/2024 02:08

I’ve just finished wrapping. I think it was 3am last year, so I’m taking this as a win.

Theoldwrinkley · 25/12/2024 02:09

Cat needed to go out at midnight. I worry so much about him that I won't sleep until he comes in, so probably little sleep tonight. Thankfully DH does Xmas lunch. I just need to keep calm and awake for when (pessimistic 'if') Rufus turns up.

DiscoBeat · 25/12/2024 02:10

Me! Well I've finally gone to bed now. Family stayed overnight so it's been a busy evening. Just prepped all the vegetables (made the sauces and gravy a couple of days ago!)

We have 21 people staying with us. Everyone is in bed, and I was doing the finishing touches by the tree. I thought all my hard work had paid off and nothing could go wrong. An hour later and I'm pretty sure norovirus has hit because my sister and I are both throwing up and 2 kids are complaining of a stomach ache.

Ohhhhhhh you poor things...

I think everyone get Norovirus over Christmas at one time or another unless they are extremely lucky.

.. One year I had it, it developed on Christmas Eve and son just had to eat snacks all day while I lay on the sofa on Christmas Day..
Thankfully he didn't catch it.

Sincerely hope your guests don't catch it, as 21 people all honking and fighting over loo space could be ....Intersting.

You poor things.

onwardandupwards · 25/12/2024 02:12

My 6 year old dd is refusing to sleep as she's determined to see Father Christmas, so we've put a film on, built a tent down stairs next to the tree, filled it with blankets, pillows ect and I'm hoping she may nod off sooner rather than later!

Still up. Just too lazy to get up and get ready for bed.

I do that regularly! then often end up falling asleep on the couch.

ChiaraRimini · 25/12/2024 02:15

I was woken up about 1.30am by DS 23 coming home from Xmas night out. He's still clanging around downstairs and I need to put the stockings out! May need to set the alarm for 4am...

Sodullincomparison · 25/12/2024 02:15

DD6 is talking loudly in her sleep. So I’m wide awake now and on alert for her deciding it is the start of the day.

She was so excited at bedtime I am surprised she went asleep.

That feels so horrible when one awakens at 3am, cold as the heating has gone off, leaving one with a cricked neck and stiff legged as the dog has fallen asleep on one's legs.

ShinyWellies · 25/12/2024 02:16

Wide awake here with no presents under the tree and still some wrapping to do but DS6 has been awake in bed since 7.45pm and is wide awake.

Gifts in spare room right next to his bedroom and every time we move he is shouting and crying.

Really loosing our patience now mind as we are beyond shattered and have so much to do!

Elphamouche · 25/12/2024 02:16

DH is just finishing the names on the Santa sacks before I can put the presents out. Hopefully in bed by 3!

Can you tell him that Father Christmas only comes to children who are quiet and asleep??
That's what we were told...and no peeping!!

delphinedupont · 25/12/2024 02:18

Me. Ds got back from holiday a week ago with germs and they’ve now been passed on to me. I’ve made brownies, put the lamb in the slow cooker, done all Santa jobs and have been heavy breathing and sneezing since 11:30. I’ve just given in and gone down to myself honey and lemon which I’ve never done before in my life but which is oddly soothing. I’m hoping it will lull me off and hoping the little one has a lie in so I manage an extra hour in bed. Ds1 is also still out which I’m pissed about because he’s not going to want to get up in a big hurry in the morning.

Togetheragain45 · 25/12/2024 02:19

I'm awake, mostly because I never sleep well. Quite looking forward to tomorrow when we go to our daughter's. I need to get in at least 7 hours now or I'll be a wreck in the morning.

If you can put some fresh ginger root , sliced thinly, about 7 fine slices, in your honey and lemon, it's a wonderful drink when one has a vile cold.

Thatcastlethere · 25/12/2024 02:20

Yeah whilst my husband sleeps soundly after acting absolutely put upon after doing a bit of washing up and bring two presents downstairs.
Went to an evening carol concert.. DHs face like a slapped arse 90% of the time. Stood in silence. Perked up a bit when I bought him takeaway... only to get in an arse when I asked him to do the washing up..
I have infected sores on my hands BTW and am on antibiotics and topical steroids..
Yet he still didn't complete the washing up. His version of doing the washing up is doing 80% of it then leaving a bunch of stuff on the draining board and in the sink. So I had to do the rest of it anyway.
Put the rest of the presents out.. am just waiting to go fill the stockings. I have 3 kids.. two primary aged and one 9month old. I've also got a cold.
I can hear him happily snoring away.
And I'll be labelled the grumpy one for being tired in the morning.
