Just finished building a stupid trike and wrapped the last of the presents. I'm not doing dinner but my contributions dishes are sorted.

Just now got to clean up and ive ran out of steam.

Say it every year but I really need to be better organised. I normally like wrapping presents on Xmas eve when kids are in bed but I'm getting too old for this 🤦‍♀️

I went to bed early around 8pm, my Mummy instincts told me that my 17 month old would be a nightmare! He's been up 12am, 2:12am and now at 4:53am....we are at my Mums so I'm stressing about him waking everyone up! While changing his nappy he starts running around asking for "ball" 😩😅🙃

Chickenwhine · 25/12/2024 04:58

lying here really hoping my 3 year old sleeps another hour!

Ulysses · 25/12/2024 04:59

DH woke me up about 3.30 as he’s injured his shoulder. Happened on Sunday and he’s been in agony ever since which has meant I’ve been running around like a headless chicken trying to do everything. My sympathies to him are not as bountiful as he would possibly like…

I’m needing to finish wrapping some presents anyway so don’t mind the early start but will be knackered later on. We go to his parents for Xmas lunch but really secretly always think it would be nice to stay at home in my jammies eating cheese, chocolate and red wine.

My two are older 13 and 19. Eldest came in at midnight so not expecting too early an appearance fortunately.

You really can’t beat the buzz of the excitement of the younger ones at this time of year though.

Snap! I hate that he just sleeps and I have to stay awake because our daughter is awake! He did wake up for a bit but his ability to just roll over and snore makes me so angry 😂😂

Trainstrike · 25/12/2024 05:13

8 year old has finally gone back to sleep after 3 hours awake - feel like she may as well have got up at this point!

I'm up, chest infection is still in full swing. But my head is buzzing and I'm excited as for the first year even though I feel shit I've got a table that looks lovely .

I've also just been told that I have an extra teen arriving for the whole day, my DS has just discovered his mate is home alone and promptly invited him over. That will teach me raising my kids to be kind, lucky we will have more than enough food to go around and he's lovely.

So it's a bit of a budge up on the table but we will feed and give him a fun day.

Snap!

My DD is 6, and has had a 7pm bed time forever. Christmas she always gets up at 7am or later. I'm 35 weeks pregnant and have been more or less awake all night. I'm clearly too excited for 'tomorrow' (this morning) so waking her up at 6. Sure she won't mind....

timetodecide2345 · 25/12/2024 05:26

Arghh I'm awake and have been since 3.30 and I'm not even excited. Are too much bloody cheese last night I think!

blahblahblahhhhh · 25/12/2024 05:37

Cats (who are not allowed upstairs as they pee) have for the first time learned to open a door this morning. Snuck into my room silently and scared the living daylights out of DH and I. This was about 4:30 so both awake and expecting 5yo will be soon.

lucya66 · 25/12/2024 05:38

dd woke me at 3.20 and not been able to sleep since. I’m tired

iloveeverykindofcat · 25/12/2024 05:39

Yeah me, I work weird hours cos I'm usually collaborating with people in different timezones so I usually sleep 9pm to 4am. Obviously I'm off right now but my body is too used to it. Merry Christmas everyone.

CoastalCalm · 25/12/2024 05:39

I’ve had a couple of hours sleep , think I overdid it going out visiting as surgery wounds are really aching , dog is lying by the side of the bed farting and it stinks. Done the various Wordles and managed to snag a few bits in M&S sale including a coat which was out of stock lastnight - think I’ve just heard my mum go downstairs so might admit defeat and go and join her , very lazy day planned anyway so can always nap later

BearBuggy · 25/12/2024 01:37

Not Up but awake. Can’t sleep as kids struggled to go down and one kept checking his stocking every 10 mins.
Normally fill them when they are asleep but holding off. Need to rethink this stocking malarkey next year !

Get two the same for each child. Encourage your kids to hang them on the outside of the bedroom door. Fill one in advance and then just swap the empty one for a full one at some point in the night.

When mine were little I worked till midnight on Christmas Eve and this system made it really quick and easy for me.

iloveeverykindofcat · 25/12/2024 05:43

I'm waiting until a reasonable hour to shower as my plumbing makes noise and I have upstairs neighbours, then will be going to mum's - she's hosting but I will be doing a lot of the food prep realistically. Its not going to be a huge affair, all adults, plus her dog ate a rock last week, had emergency surgery, intestines opened, rock removed and returned to us in a plastic bag. He came home Sunday and is doing amazingly well, but this rather delayed any form of preparation. He's a very handsome and very goodnatured dog, always happy, but he's not the sharpest tool in the shed. He will learn absolutely nothing from this.

Who left a teen on their own? You raised a good un.

myrtlehuckingfuge · 25/12/2024 05:50

Went to sleep at one. My cat (who I brought with us to my sister's- her idea- is having a glorious time but is very very erm nocturnal) has been twatting in and out of doors all night and my tweenager nephew who would have been happy to have a lie in woke up 30 mins ago with a nose bleed, claret everywhere. Was everso worried but ok now. Planning my nap this afternoon already after the washing up is done. Still, I am very happy to be in such a very busy household for Christmas.

CoastalCalm · 25/12/2024 05:51

Just realised the dog is guarding a boxed chocolate orange he’s stolen from his dads pile - little arsehole

Zanatdy · 25/12/2024 05:51

My kids are grown up now so my days of building toys and playing santa are gone (youngest is almost 17). Was having a drink with a friend earlier and we discussed this, and I said that some people miss the day of the kids being little and having to sneak the gifts down (was looking at my facebook memories too of all the huge sacks of presents). But I don’t! So much easier now putting the presents around the tree in the days leading up to Christmas.

I also usually go to bed at 9pm and wake up around 4. Sometimes need to be at work for 6am (3 days a week)

Awake now even though went to bed at 11.30 - was feeling wide awake last night!

PS love your username BTW

SoSadForPoorDH · 25/12/2024 01:55

I just woke up and crept downstairs to fill stockings/put gifts under the tree and found young adult DC has filled my Christmas stocking, all our stockings go out as decorations when we put the tree up.
It’s our first Christmas since DH died, he always filled my stocking so I expected mine to stay empty, so now I can’t go to sleep as I’m all emotional 😢
Happy Christmas everyone 🎄

Oh @SoSadForPoorDH, I’m sad for you all too, this Christmas will be very different and difficult, but how beautiful that your stocking has been filled.

Chickenwhine · 25/12/2024 06:06

Just seen my three year old on the camera wake up and took herself back in (she must think it’s a lot earlier). I’m so proud of her, she really struggles with stuff like this and she’s done so well the last few days.

PandaChopChop · 25/12/2024 06:07

Have woken up every hour since I went to bed at 11pm with wierd dreams, and finally with an upset stomach.
Feeling a bit sick and really really hoping it's not noro and just the hot curry from last night.
Kids are going to wake any minute. I predict a nap at some stage today!

Zanatdy · 25/12/2024 06:11

I’ve up because I am always up at 4-5am, peri to blame! Everyone else still asleep
