Who would you like to see replace Greg(G)

Just that really. As it seems rather obvious he won’t be darkening the doors of MasterChef again - who would you like to see replace him (or maybe replace both him and John).

Actually, I find Marcus a bit annoying on the professionals series. I was surprised how harsh he was a few times I’ve watched

Marcus always comes across to me as a Grade A arse.

Michel Roux Jr has always seemed a much nicer person.

Same same same!

But lovely Si would never agree to send anyone home!

I’d like to see them leave just the two chefs to front The Professionals, with guest critics as required. But then change both presenters on the regular show, with Angela Hartnett, or maybe Tom Kerridge, as the chef, and Sue Perkins as the non-professional foodie - she’s a great presenter, and a keen cook and eater.

Sue Perkins (apart from being incredibly irritating) is vegetarian, so I foresee a bit of a flaw in your plan.

Jay Rayner. Anyone but Nadia. I’d have to stop watching.

What gives you the ick about Nadiya? I think she is lovely!

I hate Gregg on masterchef(and now obviously due to his conduct). I do like Masterchef though.

For professionals if keeping the same format then need a third that is not a chef, or why wouldn’t they be setting the challenges.

I think Gregg on Professionals was supposed to be a bit like a member of the public who could ask the reason for certain techniques that would be obvious to a room full of chefs. If they get a critic then they would need to be equally involved in the decisions rather than the person just shouting how much time is left.

IceCreamMundae · 02/12/2024 23:16

Given that Greg’s role is to provide the “Everyman” view, rather than the chef’s view, it really needs to be someone who isn’t a cook or in the food industry. They also need to jolly along the contestants a bit.

How about Kate Humble, or Diane-Louise Jordan? The Rev Richard Coles or Brian Moore would be lovely, but they have had a lot of chaps on it over the years.

I’d have liked to see Kathy Klugston give it a go, but she has no sense of smell, apparently, so may be at a disadvantage. (Or possibly an advantage - they cook a LOT of sweetbreads…)

From an "everyman" perspective Sara Cox or Emma Willis, at the younger end of "a certain age"

StrongFemaleCharacter · 02/12/2024 23:34

The whole format needs a rebrand, it's tired now and I haven't watched it in ages. I think Andi Oliver is a good shout, she's really personable. I like Grace Dent but she is a bit dry. John Torode is distancing himself from the scandal and Gregg, I think he will stay.

Davros · 02/12/2024 23:36

James May and Tracey MacLeod.
NOT - Tom Kerridge, Nadia Hussain, Angela Hartnett, Andi Oliver

SabrinaThwaite · 02/12/2024 23:44

Angellica Bell is a good shout - very personable, a talented amateur cook (past Masterchef winner), and a woman of a certain age.

CurlewKate · 02/12/2024 20:11

I think the programme will have to go- there's now talk of a completely toxic environment going beyond Wallace. It's such a shame-it's my favorite show.

Where is there talk about something else going on behind the scenes? Of course it shouldn’t go. Just like Strictly didn’t when allegations of bullying and toxicity. Surely the answer is not to throw a show out, but just better training and change of production team need to be rolled out. I imagine there’s a lot of TV shows with elements of inappropriate behaviour by a minority, but it’s no reason to stop the entire show. Maybe someone like Grace Dent or one of the other critics to replace Greg.

Sarah Pascoe. I love everything that she does.

She's vegan though so there would be a lot of stuff she wouldn't want to eat

That the point.

She's nice to the point of icky!

It's grating.

Huonneyywisshful · 03/12/2024 00:16

I love Si but I think it has to be women doing the whole show. I would keep Monica but John and Marcus have to go. I always loved Michel Roux on the Professionals.

No one skinny does it for me, so Grace is definitely out.

I think it's amazing what she's achieved despite her struggles with mental health. Never particularly liked any of her recipes I've cooked, though!

JollyJukebox · 03/12/2024 00:31

Graham Garrett, just because he's a talented hardworking chef, incredibly modest and nice to people/funny.

Davros · 03/12/2024 09:29

Angelica Bell is a brilliant suggestion. With James May.

Agree - she’s a lovey person but god her receipes can be utterly odd.

That's because he takes an immediate like/dislike to contestants from just looking at them. It's quite annoying.

Deathraystare · 04/12/2024 12:08

Anyone that isn't Alison bloody Hammond or Gemma Collins or Mylene Klass or Romesh what's his face as they are on everything!

Moonmelodies · 04/12/2024 12:56

John Barrowman

ThatsNotMyTeen · 04/12/2024 12:59

I love Nadiya but her following Islamic dietary requirements might mean she’s too restrictive a choice

I like that because by the end of the series you see him completely change towards them

I loved Michel Roux too!

Really bizarre the way the BBC was in conflict with him for promoting new potatoes when Gary Lineker was promoting crisps! Never understood the ins and outs of that!

BigFatLiar · 04/12/2024 16:05

I'd have Kate Bottley or Richard Coles as the non chef member. Both vicars as well as tv personalities so probably less controversy in their past.

Don't know about the chefs they're all a bit suspect, even Monica has been caught making sexual innuendo on the show for a laugh. I suspect most chefs or presenters will be caught up in this if you go back and review.

Oh dear no. Just no.
