Do you have blankets downstairs?

Me and dh are polar opposites temperature wise. I'm always cold and would have the heating on full blast, he's in shorts and a t-shirt all year round at home and doesn't feel the cold.

I don't always want to be in layers. I fancy a small, warm blanket to snuggle under but ds laughed and said only old ladies do that! I'm 46!

We try to have a nice tidy lounge but I'm naturally a messy wreck so do think I'd need to get something smallish that I could fold over the back of the settee.

I crochet and have a couple of pretty blankets but the cat clicks them if I have them on my lap!

Currently snuggled under a lovely habitat blanket on the sofa… I’m 45!

FuzzyPuffling · 29/11/2024 21:45

An electric heated throw is your friend. Marvellous things. You'll only need one. Also, cats really love them!

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 29/11/2024 21:45

I don’t just have a blanket I have a selection of them Grin. We have a nice looking wicker basket down the side of the sofa they get folded up into when they’re not in use. No greater pleasure in life than being all cosy under a fluffy blanket while a cat snores on your lap.

I have a double quilt I use on the sofa 😂 folded up in a basket when I’m not using it, but I couldn’t be without it in winter

polkadotpixie · 29/11/2024 21:45

I have a sofa quilt 🤣

SleepyTraveller · 29/11/2024 21:46

Everyone in my house is younger than you. There are fleece blankets on the sofa

stclair · 29/11/2024 21:46

I have loads. Why DON'T you have blankets? Why wouldn't you want to be warm under a blanket in the evening? We all have our own!

BashfulClam · 29/11/2024 21:46

I have a heated throw, affectionately known as ‘emotional support blanket’ I’m 45 and I am old!

Delorian · 29/11/2024 21:47

We have two duvets on our sofa purely for evening sitting. It means as can avoid putting the heating on so works for us.

bryceQ · 29/11/2024 21:47

I actually think it's strange not to have them!

Lovemusic82 · 29/11/2024 21:48

I have a blanket, I’m 42, my heating is switched off at 7.30pm and the blanket comes out. I like getting into a cold bed when I go to bed but having blankets on my bed, I can’t sleep in a warm house. But I hate having cold feet whilst in the sofa watching tv.

Marblesbackagain · 29/11/2024 21:48

OP I have a selection available in a fancy basket.

Where2GoNext · 29/11/2024 21:48

We've got 5 blankets downstairs currently, although one usually lives on my daughter's bed. I love snuggling under a blanket! Also our house is cold and we can't afford to keep the heating on all sadly. My daughter broke our heated throw but when it worked it was amazing!

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 29/11/2024 21:49

We have two, one folded and draped over an occasional chair and another over the footstool. Both used by people of various ages most days in winter.

As my username may suggest, I am here for emotional support blankets!

@OP I never considered a sofa blanket until I stayed in a holiday cottage that had two Zara Home throws blankets. I had ordered one before I even left to come home.

Praise be to sofa blankets. All year round.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 29/11/2024 21:49

Yes and so does DD. I’m 43 and she’s 11!

EasterRose24 · 29/11/2024 21:50

My DS and all his housemates had their own blankets while at uni!!

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 29/11/2024 21:50

I've just got a heated hoodie it's lush as one longer wired too the wall with the heated blanket.

verycloakanddaggers · 29/11/2024 21:50

Yes everyone has a banket or quilt in our lounge, and there are some spares too.

FuzzyPuffling · 29/11/2024 21:50

We will save the planet with our sofa blankets, sisters!

Me too!

Yes OP, we have a blanket I am usually sat under on the sofa during the evening. It just gets folded over the back of the sofa when not in use. I'm in my 30s, it's not an age thing.... it's a sensible thing to keep the heating bill down and stay cosy 😁.

NewName24 · 29/11/2024 21:51

I have got one, but in terms of age, I got mine long after my young adult dc.

All of them, their partners, friends, and my nieces and nephews have blankets to snuggle under in the living room - that 'young adult' generation far more then the 35 - 70 generation.

bringonyourwreckingball · 29/11/2024 21:52

Several, mainly for my 16 yo dd

betterangels · 29/11/2024 21:53

I have several. Today I brought my duvet into the living room.
