Do you have blankets downstairs?

Me and dh are polar opposites temperature wise. I'm always cold and would have the heating on full blast, he's in shorts and a t-shirt all year round at home and doesn't feel the cold.

I don't always want to be in layers. I fancy a small, warm blanket to snuggle under but ds laughed and said only old ladies do that! I'm 46!

We try to have a nice tidy lounge but I'm naturally a messy wreck so do think I'd need to get something smallish that I could fold over the back of the settee.

I crochet and have a couple of pretty blankets but the cat clicks them if I have them on my lap!

Have a double fleece blanket that we use and pretty soon the winter/Christmas themed one's will join it.

Peasnbeans · 30/11/2024 00:25

You are completely normal. Blankets are normal or supermarkets wouldn't sell so many.
Ignore the other people in your house - YOU want one for YOU - that's okay! You're not buying a full-size slate bed snooker table, or a dog, or a new family car! It's a blanket FFS!
Just laugh in their faces when they say its for old ladies, but one of these for a treat from Argos (had mine three years and used it most nights - that's nearly 1000 goes) and, most importantly, don't let them edge their feet ANYWHERE near it.
Watch and wait, OP, watch and wait.

Oh, and don't buy the cheaper blanket kind - but the luxury furry blanket - it's amazing, and same price on Black Friday.

We have a basket of blankets in the sitting room, stops us from putting the fire on!

familyissues12345 · 30/11/2024 00:28

We have two Sherpa ones and one "love of my life" electric one!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 30/11/2024 00:30

I have a selection and live under my heated fleece throw in the winter months.

People who stop you having a throw and parade around in t-shirts and shorts should be made to wear head to toe fleece so they can feel uncomfortable! See how they like it!

GlomOfNit · 30/11/2024 00:33

Thought EVERYONE had throws and so on in their living rooms! We have central heating and we're not stingy with it, but this is a chilly, drifty house. Just from my vantage point I can see three handmade quilts, two handknitted blankets and a knitted shawl (my mum keeps us in cosy textiles!). They all get used.

RJnomore1 · 30/11/2024 00:39

Yes we do.

im 48 but of try e four blankets I’ve had one since I was 6 weeks old, one since. I was 7, and h the bothers are cheap fleeces that match the living room. DH is usually booking but I’ve still known him to enjoy a blanket on the couch when he’s tired or a bit off colour. My kids are rarely seen without a blanket.,

Lastchristmasigaveyoumysausageroll · 30/11/2024 00:44

We have enough to supply a small shop. Me, hubby and kids love a blanket on the sofa.

justasking111 · 29/11/2024 23:20

Those are for ears 😁

Oh shit!! HAHAHAHA!!!! I had googled that for my friend who had blocked ears and it worked wonders for my mum!

However........on amazon are heat pads that are 19.99 and they are amazing!

I am now going to cringe in a corner!

Strokethefurrywall · 30/11/2024 00:51

@boulevardofbrokendreamss yep AC but we don't keep it below 80oF. But we have high ceilings so get under blankets on the couch.
Never sleep under big duvets though, sheets and a blanket here. I go into friend's homes where they keep AC at 72oF and I freeze my balls off!

JFDIYOLO · 30/11/2024 00:59

We have velvet throws on the sofa as we don't much like hot rooms. Thick duvet on the bed and a chilly bedroom feels cosier too.

Topsyturvy78 · 30/11/2024 01:25

I get throws from B&M and use them as blankets. They are quite big and cosy but not bulky. So can be folded and put over the back of the sofa when not in use.

Elphai · 30/11/2024 01:27

We keep the house pretty toasty, but also have a basket of throws/crocheted blankets for extra cosiness/comfort. Mostly my kids tbh!

coxesorangepippin · 30/11/2024 01:28

Yes I have about six blankets sprinkled across the downstairs

MessyNeate · 30/11/2024 01:39

I have basket of blankets in my lounge. And one fluffy one on the back of each sofa from dunelm!

Copperoliverbear · 30/11/2024 03:00

I have a duvet, that I keep in the cupboard next to the front room, I get that out all winter x

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 30/11/2024 03:07

NewPinkJacket · 29/11/2024 21:58

Yes, we've got two lovely soft 'sofa blankets'.

However, I'd rather freeze than have crochet!

For some inexplicable reason, I hate most crochet things with a passion.

Just sounds like you've only ever seen bad crochet

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 29/11/2024 21:59

I think you are in the minority OP, we have a couple of sherpa fleece blankets on the sofa here, plus I have a heated pad for my aches and pains, it's fantastic.

Could you share the heated pad? I get stuck in analysis paralysis but heat is good for my chronic pain

Blanket experts- bargainous - snug enough?

Looks fabulous but I'd want bigger.. When doing the glowworm, you need excess to tuck under 🤣

Isometimeswonder · 30/11/2024 03:28

I have 4 in the living room. There are only 2 people.
There are also extras in the bedroom.
Age is irrelevant!

110APiccadilly · 30/11/2024 03:37

I'm in my thirties and downstairs we have half a dozen blankets. I'm glad of that tonight, meant I could decamp downstairs with the vomiting two year old easily, rather than keeping the whole house awake.

Blueuggboots · 30/11/2024 05:06

Yes! It's a bright pink furry Barbie blanket. 😄

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 30/11/2024 05:27

They are revolutionary for earwax but can take weeks sometimes to work.

Do you have the link to the hotbot things. I've just checked amazon and can't find what you're referring to. Please & thank you ❤️

AhBiscuits · 30/11/2024 05:48

Yes of course I have a sofa blanket 😄
I also have a heated throw that on my lap when I'm working in my little office. I'm 44 but have had one for about 10 years.

WarmHugsandLongKisses · 30/11/2024 06:03

I have a pile of fleece blankets downstairs for the evenings. I also have an actual single quilt and pillow covered in a teddy bear bed set!
