Do you have blankets downstairs?

Me and dh are polar opposites temperature wise. I'm always cold and would have the heating on full blast, he's in shorts and a t-shirt all year round at home and doesn't feel the cold.

I don't always want to be in layers. I fancy a small, warm blanket to snuggle under but ds laughed and said only old ladies do that! I'm 46!

We try to have a nice tidy lounge but I'm naturally a messy wreck so do think I'd need to get something smallish that I could fold over the back of the settee.

I crochet and have a couple of pretty blankets but the cat clicks them if I have them on my lap!

I don't think I've ever not had a sofa blanket in my 30 years as an adult and that includes living in a number of countries with all year round temps of 30 plus degrees. Even when warm I'm not comfortable without a blanket. Realised I like long dresses when at work because they give a slightly blanket feel when sitting down. Will take a blanket in the car on a longer journey if not driving because I don't really feel comfortable otherwise.

Could you share the heated pad? I get stuck in analysis paralysis but heat is good for my chronic pain

It was from Amazon, there are lots of different sizes on there, and there are probably some with "black Friday" reductions now, too. Mine is about the size of a pillow and I have it on my back as I strained it a few weeks ago and the pad has really soothed it.

Electric heated throw is the best thing I’ve ever bought save me a fortune and Heating I love it but also have several rugs and blankets in a basket.

NorthernGirlie · 30/11/2024 09:56

I love how passionate you all are about your blankets!

I wish I could use my crochet ones, I mostly give them away but have a woodland colours one tucked over a sofa. The cat just clicks the hell out of them!

I'm currently making the squares for a huge retro flowers throw!

Let's have a blanket pics thread once mine arrives 🤣🤣

Can I ask which one you have? I’m getting one for my elderly mum for Christmas. I’ve chosen one but not sure it’s big enough. I’ve got an extension lead too.

Octoberdreaming · 30/11/2024 10:59

Always, my kid who is 6 loves them too. It’s normal.

They are revolutionary for earwax but can take weeks sometimes to work.

Do you have the link to the hotbot things. I've just checked amazon and can't find what you're referring to. Please & thank you ❤️

I have the smaller one and bought several as gifts last Xmas https://amzn.eu/d/fhHdyY1

Just sounds like you've only ever seen bad crochet

No, not at all.

I've seen all sorts of crochet, both in real life and all over the internet and I just hate it for some reason 🤷‍♂️

We have a large basket full of blankets in our lounge and we are in our 40s

Can't thank you enough for this. I spend hours looking and get stuck and can't decide or read one bad review then I'm back to square one. Just bought a 17x33 inch for £26. ❤️

NoiseDrama · 30/11/2024 20:54

My mum had blankets on the sofa when I was little, and as soon as I moved out I got a selection of my own 😀 weird not to have blankets I think! Everyone I know has them

MadKittenWoman · 30/11/2024 21:05

We have a selection of lovely velvet, woollen and faux-fur throws in a basket and snuggle under them if it's a bit chilly.

Marblesbackagain · 29/11/2024 21:48

OP I have a selection available in a fancy basket.

Cross-posted!

abracadabra1980 · 30/11/2024 21:37

After I bought my first heated throw, everyone who's sat with it since, has bought one. We now have six in our family 🤣 and a couple of friends and customers of mine have also bought one

Utterly blissful-AND save on heating bills as they only cost pence per hour to run.

I paid £130 for my first one but they are often on offer at Boots (sold out atm) also - they are very warm and heavy in their own right, unheated.

Oh enjoy!! Let me know how you get on!

Tisthesaizon · 01/12/2024 00:55

I’ve been using blankets and even duvets downstairs since I was about 9 , to be fair I did grow up in a cold country 😆 glad you ordered your blanket - your husband is clearly very wrong on this one! And men typically feel the cold less than women.

CoastalCalm · 01/12/2024 00:57

All year round ! We love our blankies , they should get folded into a lovely wicker basket but invariably they aren’t. I just bought this as recovering from surgery so spending a lot of time on sofa rest - me and the elderly dog love it so much

@NorthernGirlie I'm glad to see you've ordered a blanket, but why didn't you go for a heated one?!

SapphireSeptember · 03/12/2024 09:03

I have a fine selection of fleecy ones, loads of patterned ones from Asda, a couple of patterned ones from Tesco, one patterned one from Matalan, a thick grey one I got from Sainsbury's years ago, a Pusheen, a Harry Potter and a wizard's cloak one that were given to me, and one lone cotton one that I use in the summer when it's too hot for a duvet. Oh, and the really old purple tartan fleece I use for my DS to play on on the floor, had that for over 20 years! Currently have a green one with toadstools on the back of the sofa and another green one with guinea pigs over the armchair (both George at ASDA. I went a bit mad. 😁) I live in a flat so no downstairs, but I certainly have them in the living room. Need a nice box or basket to put them in now.
