Do you have blankets downstairs?

Me and dh are polar opposites temperature wise. I'm always cold and would have the heating on full blast, he's in shorts and a t-shirt all year round at home and doesn't feel the cold.

I don't always want to be in layers. I fancy a small, warm blanket to snuggle under but ds laughed and said only old ladies do that! I'm 46!

We try to have a nice tidy lounge but I'm naturally a messy wreck so do think I'd need to get something smallish that I could fold over the back of the settee.

I crochet and have a couple of pretty blankets but the cat clicks them if I have them on my lap!

I don’t just have a blanket I have a selection of them Grin. We have a nice looking wicker basket down the side of the sofa they get folded up into when they’re not in use. No greater pleasure in life than being all cosy under a fluffy blanket while a cat snores on your lap.

Snap! Except we stuff our blankets in rather than folding them!

RuthW · 29/11/2024 22:35

Blankets here for me and my 27 year old dd. We don't need the heating up so high then. Thought everyone did that.

Cynic17 · 29/11/2024 22:35

No. Because my bed is upstairs. And so is my TV.

Printedword · 29/11/2024 22:36

I don’t really feel the cold, DH is the opposite. So he’s in fluffy slippers, fleecy hoodie, over long sleeved top, trousers. I’m in tee shirt and skirt and thin cardigan. But once it’s sofa time I cover up my legs sitting down with a blanket. I recently discovered one of my blankets is technically a Turkish towel. DC does have a dressing gown but prefers his fleece blanket with feet and arm holes. It has to live downstairs because the stairs here are really steep so no one goes up and down trailing a blanket or in backless footwear

OldTinHat · 29/11/2024 22:36

I have blankets downstairs. Even my dog has a blanket of her own - and a jumper!

Toastghost · 29/11/2024 22:36

Yes, I made them myself. They often get complimented. I am in my 30s but I have had blankets downstairs all my life.

Popfan · 29/11/2024 22:37

Yes!!! I like a warm house too. We have a faux fur one from John Lewis.

nothing beats a heated throw, I would be lost without mine. When I go to bed I switch it off fold it up neatly and lay it on the arm of my sofa.

Chicooo · 29/11/2024 22:38

We have multiple in both lounges and the office (which has a sofa and TV that has the PlayStation and Nintendo attached)

Plus we each have some on our beds. Blush

Always under a blanket each this time of year if we're sat on a sofa.

Alainlechat · 29/11/2024 22:40

Yep I have blankets, on the back of the sofa, in my garden office and the garden swing. I'd also have one in the car on the passenger seat if I could get away with it.

Love a snuggly blanket and I always have.

ShyTed · 29/11/2024 22:40

Blankets are essential in my house we love them!

yakkadeez · 29/11/2024 22:41

Several! Me, DH, 3 DCs and the DDog have one each!

Oh my God I love these! Thanks

loppity · 29/11/2024 22:43

I am mostly upstairs these days but definitely under the duvet/Oodie - my 2.5 year old Great Niece loves to be 'cosy' under a fleece blanket and so does her mama - my niece

curlywurlymum · 29/11/2024 22:45

We have (so many!) seasonal blankets. The ‘regular’ ones are just about to get packed away into the eves so we can get the Christmas ones out. Both daughters sleep with their soft ones every night. We also have garden blankets for spring/ summer.
Blankets are life!

justasking111 · 29/11/2024 22:46

Used to live in a cold house so needed a blanket for the draughts. Husband is always hot so changes into a nightshirt once the log burner is lit. My eldest son likes blankets so they use them including the children, as does my other son and family.

NorthernGirlie · 29/11/2024 22:47

I've ordered the Debenhams one (free delivery too) although I'm now wishing I'd paid for the speedy delivery as I'm so impatient!

Me too and all of them are Winter/Christmas themed, they're lovely and I often get one out on a chilly evening..

MrsPeregrine · 29/11/2024 22:47

If you really want to go all out you could always invest in a heated throw OP. Argos sell their own branded ones for around £33 I think and they are really cheap to run.

Stravaig · 29/11/2024 22:48

Blankets are the bedrock of a comfortable and inviting home! A living space without blankets (and books) is unimaginable. Your DH has yet to crawl out of the primordial ooze some very strange ideas.

From a previous blanket defence on MN: 'blankets are the foundation of life, the epitome of functional artistry, our means of survival come the apocalypse, and how we rebuild civilisation afterwards. You can never have too many truly beautiful blankets.' 😍🤣

Enjoy choosing the first of your new collection!

FrazzledHippy · 29/11/2024 22:49

I have a single duvet in a fancy cover on the back of my sofa. I'm 35 and I've had a blanket of some form since my early 20s 😂

Yourethebeerthief · 29/11/2024 22:49

Always!!

We have 5 blankets in our living room. They're used for snuggling under when watching telly or used by my son to make dens. They just get folded over the arm of the sofa/armchair when not being used.

Your husband is weird.

Dovecare · 29/11/2024 22:49

How bloody dare he? Get a good sized blanket and keep warm!

Zanatdy · 29/11/2024 22:49

Oh yes always have a blanket to hand

Christinglechristmas · 29/11/2024 22:50

We currently have a throw, an electric blanket, another random throw and something else on one Sofia. I honestly can't imagine having a discussion about this. And keeping a tidy house over a blanket.
