Light hearted, is there something you never got for Christmas as a kid and still feel slightly whistful about?

I was talking to a friend earlier who got a Mr Frosty last Christmas, albeit a few decades after she first asked for him.

It reminded me that there was one thing I really wanted and never got, which was the early 90s Sylvanian Families manor house. Even though I understood that my parents/Santa wouldn't be able to afford it, I still headed my Christmas list with it for a couple of years just in case someone donated it to one of the jumble sales that my mum used to go to.

Haven't thought about it for years but finding the picture still generated a little pang of longing!

Anyone else got any?

These threads always descend into bitterness of not getting a Mr. frosty - whoever did their marketing clearly did a great job and the Fisher Price kitchen

I made a point of buying a MR. frosty for DD as soon as she was a reasonable age for one - my parents were right, it was shit and we only used it twice.

I’m the kid who had a Mr Frosty. All your mums were right. They were shit.

Hulahoopalaver · 16/11/2024 17:04

Oh I never got a Mr Frosty either, but then I never wanted one so no bitterness here.

A pony. Always wanted a pony for Christmas.

I'm 47 now, have 2 ponies but still dream of waking up to a new pony tied to the fence with a tinsel headcollar and Christmas rug 😁

redshoes2017 · 16/11/2024 17:06

Rainbow Bright, a Care bear, a la carte kitchen, a Barbie ...... I did see a care bear in a charity shop and brought it for myself though even though I'm in my 40s 🤣

SabreIsMyFave · 16/11/2024 17:06

On this type of thread it's always Mr Frosty that people were desperate for! 😂

I never wanted one and I don't know anyone who did.

Plus, they were shite apparently! 😆

BCBird · 16/11/2024 17:06

Hungry Hippos

Ah I did get that but found it very anticlimactic. Nowhere near as much fun as it looked in the advert.

AllTheChaos · 16/11/2024 17:09

Oh I definitely wanted a Mr Frosty! And a pogo stick, and one of those pogo ball things (can’t remember what they were called). Sigh. I have to say it cheered me up no end last year reading on here about how shite fhe Mr Frosty really was!

JustMadAboutSaffron · 16/11/2024 17:09

Big Yellow Teapot
Pogo stick (though I did get the pogo ball! )

Love this. When I was looking for the Sylvanian mansion picture I saw a few going on eBay for £££. I was still tempted appart from the fact I need to buy food don't have any Sylvanian's.

A Barbie. I got a Sindy instead. Sindy was like a beige, wholesome, less interesting version of Barbie who could have kicked her arse blindfolded.

KnopkaPixie · 16/11/2024 17:14

A Muddy Fox mountain bike.

itsnotthemostwonderfultime · 16/11/2024 17:14

The sylvanian canal boat. My neighbours had one, but we were never allowed it.

Also pregnant Barbie … used to just stuff clothes under their tops instead so it didn’t really make any difference banning it 🤷‍♀️

Marylou62 · 16/11/2024 17:14

We had a toy shop in our town and in the window was a beautiful ballerina.. she was the size of a toddler..
All dressed in pink.. with a big white tutu..
If you held her hand over her head she would spin on point..
I so wanted her .
I'm in my 60s now and she was something I really really wanted.
Sigh.....

Bakedpotatoes · 16/11/2024 17:14

I wanted a Mr Frosty and one of those see through phones from Clarissa Tells it all!

MrsPeterHarris · 16/11/2024 17:14

Mine was an A La Carte kitchen too!

merryhouse · 16/11/2024 17:14

I really wanted a Girls World.

I don't think I even bothered telling my mum this...

I'd never heard of Mr Frosty before I got on Mumsnet. Am I too old, or just TV-deprived?

banananapancake · 16/11/2024 17:15

Stretch Armstrong- god knows why
