Is it just me but……Grown men who insist on wearing shorts in winter?

Especially the longer shorts that are below the knee. And backward baseball caps. They look like a bloody “Bash Street Kid”.

Yes this exactly. It's October now so on with the fur lined hat, gloves and duvet coat even though it's balmy out. I wonder what these super wrapped up people will wear when the real cold weather starts.

This week I was at the designer outlet near me and everyone was dressed like they were going for hot chocolate in Finland on Christmas eve - in a tropically heated shopping centre.

Where are you where it's still October??

Porridgeislife · 16/11/2024 16:59

I’d rather see shorts than grim grey joggers with one hand firmly shoved down the front.

HA! Somerset where it's definitely November.

I meant that the moment October starts people wrap up like a snowman even if it's 20 degrees.

Normal for little girls but very odd for grown women, yes

I get compliments on my shorts and tights. Maybe you're wearing them wrong.

NoCarbsForMe · 16/11/2024 17:38

MAMILs give me the ick.

The weather’s pretty nice today where we are. DH (52) is wearing shorts, a sweatshirt, and a baseball cap (the right way around).
I hate the cap, but he likes it, plus he’s American and has played/followed baseball since he was a child so it makes sense. 😂

PortiasBiscuit · 16/11/2024 18:01

God yes, DH is 60yo. I will never understand why he spends the weekend dressed like a 12yo boy.

midgetastic · 16/11/2024 18:26

He is dressing like a 60year old man because that is what he is

It's been very mild here - around 14c this week. I get far more twitchy seeing people (mostly women I've noticed) in huge duvet coats with hoodies underneath, hats and scarves. It's like they're dressing for the calendar rather than the actual weather. I run ridiculously hot though.

Haha, me too! You'd think the temperatures were in the minuses. Surely they can't be walking much distance in essentially a duvet styled like a coat to their ankles. or they'll be sweating underneath that. I don't know what they'll do when it really gets cold.

100% agree

I find this revolting

Doodlesplodge17 · 17/11/2024 17:50

My DH wears shorts all year round, he finds jeans and trousers extremely restrictive and he gets too hot, he’s 53 btw and I don’t see the harm in it 🤷🏻‍♀️ stop being so judgmental.

emanresu3 · 17/11/2024 18:13

I actually prefer baseball caps worn back to front. North european men's noses coming out at the angle they do, dont suit baseball caps. However flat nosed men look good in them worn the correct way.

What on earth?! People’s noses do not dictate their outfit options. How awful! Every race of men look equally fine in a baseball cap.

CatsnCoffeeetal · 17/11/2024 18:20

Especially contemptible when accompanied by slides or flip-flops!

Givemecoffee77 · 17/11/2024 18:23

😂 DH, DS1 and DS2 both teenagers wear shorts all year round (except to work / school) except maybe a few weeks of Dec / Jan but that’s about it. I just let them crack on now unless we’re going somewhere nicer for dinner etc.

Jack80 · 17/11/2024 18:30

My husband wears shorts to his knee or just above all seasons.

huuskymam · 17/11/2024 18:33

My gobshite of a son does this. Goes to work in the afternoon in shorts and a hoodie (changes into a uniform when he gets there) then comes home frozen after midnight, just no talking sense to him.

fetchacloth · 17/11/2024 19:14

Mymanyellow · 16/11/2024 09:02

Think there’s a competition at the post office. Who can wear them in the cold weather the longest.

Definitely this around where I live - it's like an endurance contest in colder weather brrrr 😁

Deeperthantheocean · 17/11/2024 19:17

My DH, brother, others wear shorts in winter. Have never given it a second thought apart maybe oh I should do this too! X

Pixiedust88 · 17/11/2024 20:00

My dad (70) wears shorts from March to October. If it’s still warmish in November he’ll wear them until it gets really cold and finally put his jeans back on and then moans he’s hot because moms got the heating on 🤣

Sampler · 17/11/2024 20:02

I think it’s just a man fashion thing they seem to like. I live in a cold county and the short wearing is all year round and the non-sporty short wearers always have tattoos and don’t like having to cover up their ‘masterpieces’.

JWKD · 17/11/2024 20:52

One of my favourite things about summer is the sight of my postie in shorts. 😍

ExceededUsefulEconomicLife · 17/11/2024 21:10

With the young'uns, there's usually a leg tattoo that needs to shown off. DH and I joke about this.
