We're Into the first day of a family holiday to Mexico with our daughter, her boyfriend and another couple .
It took us hours to get here and after a decent nights sleep , daughters boyfriend has had too much to drink and kicked off big time , storming round the hotel then kicking the hotel room door in . Luckily the hotel have not called the police , we've paid for the door , my husband has taken the boyfriend away to sober up , I'm sat in my hotel room with a distraught daughter .we're hoping to get him on a flight home tomorrow as he can't stay here , I'm absolutely furious with him, he's 24 and he's blaming it all on our daughter .
I'm not looking for solutions just venting really .

What a stupid dickhead! Hopefully once he's gone you will have a great time x

CuriousGeorge80 · 14/09/2024 01:51

Fingers crossed she dumps him as a result! And that you can enjoy the rest of your holiday once he goes.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/09/2024 01:53

I certainly hope your daughter's eyes have been fully opened as to what an absolute shitbag her boyfriend is. I hope she tells him it's over as he's leaving. I would find it hard to believe that this is the first time ever she's seen this type of behaviour from him.

rosalynd34 · 14/09/2024 01:53

I would consider the positive, your Daughter knows what he is like now and it happened at least when you were there too so you can be with her.

But yeah, infuriating that he ruined the first night of your holiday, hopefully can all start fresh tomorrow.

TheChippendenSpook · 14/09/2024 01:53

How awful. Hopefully he will go home tomorrow and your daughter quickly realises that he's awful.

I hope you can enjoy your holiday.

CalicoPusscat · 14/09/2024 01:55

Has he ever been like this before? He sounds awful, hope there is a plane available ASAP so you can all relax without him

Fraaahnces · 14/09/2024 01:57

This is why the English & Aussies get such a bad name overseas. The relationship with alcohol really needs addressing. Drinking until ugly and aggressive affects everyone else. This isn’t “their right to have a good time…”

ItWasOnAStarryNight · 14/09/2024 01:57

Look at it as an early opportunity to get rid of this dickhead for your daughter

almondflake · 14/09/2024 02:00

Thanks for your kind words . I've just found out that she's paid for this holiday , he's not paid a penny towards it , she's been covering for him saying that he's been working while he's been dossing at home , so bless her she's kept him for the past year working all hours at a shop to pay for this he's only had a job for the past two months .

OP posts:
almondflake · 14/09/2024 02:06

I really hope that the relationship is done . She can do better . @Fraaahnces thing is he doesn't drink at home that's what make it so ridiculous .
@Aquamarine1029 she swears he's never been like this before , I do believe her but I think once it happens and you forgive them there's a greater chance of it happening again .

OP posts:
SingingSands · 14/09/2024 02:06

Oh Lord, he sounds awful. What will you do if he doesn't want to get on a flight home tomorrow?

almondflake · 14/09/2024 02:08

@SingingSands I don't know to be honest . We've got to see the rep tomorrow to see if we can get him on a flight .

OP posts:
rosalynd34 · 14/09/2024 02:10

I hope this has made her see the light and she ends the relationship, it sounds like there are plenty of reasons to do it and this, whilst awful, may have been the thing she needed to give her that push.

almondflake · 14/09/2024 02:36

@rosalynd34 I hope so too , I know he's not the best for her and I really hope she can see this now , i don't know how this can be put right to be honest .

OP posts:
Dustyblue · 14/09/2024 03:19

Oh dear. I hope this is the reality check she needed to see she's been taken advantage of. Good luck with getting him on a plane asap.

PenelopePitStrop · 14/09/2024 03:22

I’m not sure I would think it lucky that the hotel didn’t call the police. Lucky for him, but it might have made it easier to get him removed from you .

Presumably the hotel will no longer accept him as a guest? Just thinking ahead to when he declines to be ‘put’ on a flight home. If the hotel refuse to keep him as a guest he will have v few options, which is good and will help persuade him to go.

sashh · 14/09/2024 03:40

WOW. OP no wonder you wanted to rant.

I can't offer any advice, so I'll just say I'll be here if you want to rant more.

PoshTosh · 14/09/2024 03:40

Shame the police didn’t come
Can you leave him at the airport and let him sort himself out.

How is he blaming your DD?

PoshTosh · 14/09/2024 03:42

she says he’s not done this before but one time is too many.

I can't see anything in the post that says they are English or Australian?

Thevelvelletes · 14/09/2024 03:49

A wee overnight stay in a mexican police station might have been good for him.

DreamTheMoors · 14/09/2024 03:50

So I actually got stranded in Mexico and these two Mexican police officers offered to help.
But they took me in the opposite direction and kept driving and driving and driving — until finally they stopped at this bar and let me go.
And I had to hitchhike 85+ miles back to San Diego with complete strangers.
To say it was terrifying would be an understatement.

Your daughter’s boyfriend is lucky the police didn’t show up.
They don’t care in Mexico. At all.

NiftyKoala · 14/09/2024 03:52

I am so sorry! What a nightmare. The faster he's on a flight out the better. Hugs to you dh and your poor dd.

As a Mexican I can say you were very lucky. Police in Mexico are far more criminal then people think. Sadly travel companies love to say oh its not really that bad. Yes it actually is. I cannot imagine how terrified you must have been.

almondflake · 14/09/2024 04:00

@PoshTosh , hes saying it's her fault because she's messy , he's had to empty the cat litter tray at home , she's given him the wrong key card for the hotel room , she didn't follow him when she walked off . Lots of reasons why it's DD 's fault but not a single reason why it's his 🙄
