Oasis are reforming. Yack.

So, one of the brothers has a divorce bill to pay. Apparently they have magically ‘got over’ their acrimony and will stage a come back - what an amazing coincidence! I still maintain:

a) they were a derivative, naive, band with absolutely rubbish lyrics.

b) they mercilessly exploited the hard man, brotherly feud shit in pursuit of loadsamoney

c) they should just go away and not inflict any more of their talent on us

d) I am cross with myself for even posting about this because it gives talentless white macho males the oxygen of publicity.

Discuss.

D) you are overthinking this. Noone really cares, but lots of people like the music. They were already rich and a bit knobbish, so nothing has really changed.

LlynTegid · 25/08/2024 21:45

I think we just have to roll with it. Definitely maybe they will play some of their greatest hits. Don't look back in anger at the 90s. I doubt if cigarettes and alcohol will be allowed to be brought into the venues.

QueenOfHiraeth · 25/08/2024 21:46

I quite liked them back in the day and think they had some good songs but am not remotely tempted to go and see them now

Something I really object to, more than anything Oasis related, is being told to "discuss" anything, how patronising!

Yes, that’s probably right. It just makes me so cross that talentless gobshites make millions from this stuff while actual talented people have to go and work in Tesco.

Talentless hacks the lot of them. They were a bargain basement Beatles tribute band and should have never been recorded unless it was to be broadcast into space to annoy alien species listening in so they give invading Earth a pass.

😂

It’ll sell out in about 1.2 seconds regardless.

I’m sure bots like them. No sense of taste in music.

Oh. Didn’t mean to get backs up, just meant, “tell me what you think” but it is was shorter to type “discuss”. I’d prefer to hash this out with real life people but it’s just me and the dog, so I used shorthand …

YANBU. Shit then.
shit now.

FknOmniShambles · 25/08/2024 21:51

Well you clearly have your thoughts on the subject, but an Oasis reform would be off the charts huge.
I would pay ridic amounts of money to see them play! 😂😂

BobbyBiscuits · 25/08/2024 21:51

Haha. You are not wrong. I can't fucking stand them. Even when they first came out it was just so...basic. I guess it was squarely not aimed at teenage female grunge fans, but still.
The way Noel bangs on about how his lyrics mean absolutely nothing. I mean, surely not?! Who'd have fucking thunk it? Lol

Moveoverdarlin · 25/08/2024 21:51

Delighted with the news they’re reforming. Will deffo try and get tickets. Will pay way over the odds if I have to.

Oochiesmoochies · 25/08/2024 21:52

They should have fked off years ago. Post 2000 Oasis were shite and then on their own Noel's arrogance never stopped growing and he acts like a modern day saint in a way his much more talented nemesis Albarn never did. A dinosaur who thinks he's still relevant. Liam actually became a good laugh and seems chilled out rather than poking fun at modern singers.

Of course it will sell out immediately at huge prices as that generation of 90s kids is pretty minted now and men love wanking themselves dry over Oasis nostalgia.

Emotionalsupporthamster · 25/08/2024 21:53

Agree all the swagger and machismo is completely offputting but I admit I will always have a wee place in my heart for Champagne Supernova.

I wouldn’t get too het up about it. They’ve got plenty fans who will still pay to see them so why shouldn’t they?

Messen · 25/08/2024 21:55

Who is buying those tickets?

45 year olds with more money than sense? Their poor offspring who’ve grown up thinking this is music? Gawd.

Not looking forward to a return of the rampant misogyny!

HowardTJMoon · 25/08/2024 21:55

I wonder how many concerts they'll manage to perform at before one or other of them goes off in a huff.

Isn't that just a humorous nod to the way exam questions are sometimes framed?

ThePoshUns · 25/08/2024 21:56

Agree cannot stand oasis. Some like their music or anything they stand for.

CallingMeALamppost · 25/08/2024 21:57

Well I love them.

ThePoshUns · 25/08/2024 21:57

Status Quo-asis

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 25/08/2024 21:57

Clearly they do need money. I'll still be trying for tickets though. Saw them at Loch Lomond back in the day.

longdistanceclaraclara · 25/08/2024 21:57

Each to their own.
