So, one of the brothers has a divorce bill to pay. Apparently they have magically ‘got over’ their acrimony and will stage a come back - what an amazing coincidence! I still maintain:

a) they were a derivative, naive, band with absolutely rubbish lyrics.

b) they mercilessly exploited the hard man, brotherly feud shit in pursuit of loadsamoney

c) they should just go away and not inflict any more of their talent on us

d) I am cross with myself for even posting about this because it gives talentless white macho males the oxygen of publicity.

Discuss.

Who is buying those tickets?

45 year olds with more money than sense? Their poor offspring who’ve grown up thinking this is music? Gawd.

I would. Oasis at Maine Road was the most fabulous gig. Loved it.

DH and I watched that film 'Yesterday' (erm, yesterday, actually) - it's set in a world where the Beatles don't exist and the best joke of the whole film was that therefore there was no Oasis.

Don't get me wrong, I loved them in the 90s but the angry scally act does not age well.

DelilahBucket · 25/08/2024 21:59

My 16 year old can't wait. He thought he'd never get to see them live.

Oh flipping heck - last thing any of us need is misogynistic 90s lads culture making a come back. Proper saddos.

BettyBoobles · 25/08/2024 22:00

I'm sure I'll be slated here but I think they were fantastic in their day. I absolutely love their music and it berings back great memories of my teenage years. Liam is a tool but totally suits being a rock star.

HungryLittleCrocodile · 25/08/2024 22:00

Yeah I couldn't give a fig. I liked them in the 1990s, and liked 3 or 4 albums and some singles, but IDGAF about them post 2000. As you say @Messen how convenient that the 2 Gallagher Brothers have got over their rift, to make a comeback now it suits them. 🙄

vodkaredbullgirl · 25/08/2024 22:01

It won't last.

Its Noel who is the tool now. Liam is funny as and seems not to take any of it seriously.

RedToothBrush · 25/08/2024 22:02

I loved Oasis and saw them loads.

However the last couple of gigs I saw them play were really unpleasant.

Not because of the band. Though Liam's vocals were getting steadily ropey as he'd screwed his voice, but because the crowds got increasingly awful.

It just wasn't fun anymore.

I don't expect a reunion tour will be different. It will be full of men in their 50s and 60s with an alcohol problem and a total lack of regard for anyone else.

It's depressing.

I think I will leave my Oasis memories firmly in the past as a result. I had a blast seeing them all over the place and saw them at some brilliant venues. I queued over night for tickets several times.

But no. Just no.

Solymoly · 25/08/2024 22:02

Aren't their gigs a bit rough

Solymoly · 25/08/2024 22:03

I think @RedToothBrush has answered my question

Yes. Very.

They weren't in the earlier years but they were dreadful and actually scary in the last couple I went to.

SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice · 25/08/2024 22:04

My mum forced me to see Jesus bands that were better than Oasis.

Yes it was banging I was there too! And Man City had just won the derby a few hours before the gig. When we came out overnight it was Eid so the whole neighbourhood was out and the entire day felt like a non-stop celebration

Were they?! Why...?

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 25/08/2024 22:06

Ugh. Couldn't stand them then and they'll be more insufferable now, especially Liam.

That night was mental. One of the best I went to.

I LOVE OASIS ❤️

ratherbesurfing · 25/08/2024 22:07

I’m interested to know what music you like OP. I’m no huge Oasis fan but they were hugely popular and I’ve heard newer artists cite them as being a big influence on them.

Messen · 25/08/2024 22:08

to me they will always be the epitome of laddish, whiteboy, misogynist, capitalist culture. Grim.

I saw their last gig at Heaton park in Manchester and no, wasn’t rough at all.

Mine too. She’s so excited at the possibility.

Saschka · 25/08/2024 22:08

If a load of 50 year old men want to take coke and shout “You’re my Wonderwall” at each other for 90mins, and Liam Gallagher can charge them each £250 for the opportunity to do so, who am I to stop them? 🤷‍♀️

Heaven forbid people in their 40s should go and see a music group they like!

I was never a particular Oasis fan, but the overreaction here is funny. Please tell us which music you’re into so we can all denigrate that?

What is MN approved music these days, anyway? It’s definitely not Taylor Swift.

So don’t go and see them? For someone who doesn’t like them you’re giving them an inordinate amount of headspace, how odd.
