So, one of the brothers has a divorce bill to pay. Apparently they have magically ‘got over’ their acrimony and will stage a come back - what an amazing coincidence! I still maintain:

a) they were a derivative, naive, band with absolutely rubbish lyrics.

b) they mercilessly exploited the hard man, brotherly feud shit in pursuit of loadsamoney

c) they should just go away and not inflict any more of their talent on us

d) I am cross with myself for even posting about this because it gives talentless white macho males the oxygen of publicity.

Discuss.

My husband is excited about the reunion. I couldn’t give a monkeys. I just don’t get the hype. They are doing it for the money and nothing more, there won’t be any chemistry between them. It will be a night of karaoke.

Of course they are doing it for the money ….why else do you think bands tour🤣🤣🤣…..it will be a huge singalong and the audience will love it

@Kitkat1523 Why don’t they want it filmed at all?

Is it to make some sort of dig at blur whose wembley concert film is currently being shown at cinemas?

Iamacatslave · 27/08/2024 15:05

I wouldn’t travel to my back garden to see them.

I doubt they would want to play there. Prob not big enough

MattSmithsBowTie · 27/08/2024 15:31

Some of their songs are catchy in a Beatles tribute way, but I wouldn’t pay to go and see them. I always preferred Blur anyway.

I can see why they’re doing it though, their fan base are probably old enough to have enough disposable income to pay silly money for tickets now.

he is when he walks out and Rock and Roll Star starts up. he defined that lyric his brother wrote.

I'm kinda wondering what a rock star is, if it isn't Liam tbh

I have to say, after watching Liam's Reading perfomance on iPlayer, his vocals are better than they've been for a while.

The entire set was Oasis songs, and the band were really pretty tight.

I have to say I feel for Liam's band and Noel's band because only so many of them can play in Oasis next year. Liam currently has Bonehead playing whilst Gem is currently in Noel's band. So who gets the gig may be controversal (both were in Oasis). Chris Sharrock played drums for Oasis for a while but wasn't an official member, and also is currently in Noel's band and has previously played with Liam since he's been solo so he's would be the likely choice (although Liam has another drummer).

Personally I'd like to see both Bonehead and Gem being part of the band which might be doable (The band were often joined on stage by Marr so I don't see why they couldn't have an extra guitarist).

Just leaves a punch up to get the bassist slot. Andy Bell apparently fell out with Noel and Liam!

If they would like to play in my back garden they are more than welcome.

Preferably on a weekend my batshit neighbour is in residence.

Are you Patsy Kensit? That was the 90s, just move on!

I wish! Yes, Oasis should have left it in the 90s but I can't move on when those talentless bores have popped up again!

JaggyJumper · 27/08/2024 15:58

I don’t get the argument that they are only doing it for the money, or course they are. I also only go to work for the money. And believe me if I was making a rumoured £400million I would be doing as many dates as I could!

BakedBeansforabrain · 27/08/2024 15:58

Oasis needs you,…..to pay Noel’s £20m divorce settlement. Let’s hope they don’t fight over who will be the lead singer or backing singer!

They must need some cash! Thank the lord for divorce, and love! 🤷🏻‍♂️Noel, Dont Look Back In Anger, and Stop Crying Your Heart Out, let it Slide Away.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 27/08/2024 16:51

Ahh, the comments of "only doing it for the money" and "their music is shit" and such.

As a pp said I'm sure most of us is offered the £ they could make would absolutely do it. And fans will love it and come and listen.

And yup, music is subjective. I love Oasis yet an artist like Ed Shearan, who has the most unremarkable voice I've ever heard and seems to release another formulaic sounds-almost-identical-to-the-last-one track what feels like every other week (kind of a modern Stock Aitken and Waterman machine) leaves me cold. Although you're unlikely to get the flying bottles of piss at his gigs so that's a plus.

Horses for courses al all.

Absolute garbage. Sick of seeing sad 60 year olds exciting about going to see them and kids thinking they are edgy wanting to see them. The brothers are the biggest pair of talentless, boring idiots. All Liam does is literally shout his songs in his professional Mancunian, nasally voice. You couldn't pay me to go and see them. I do understand people like different stuff that they term music but it's ridiculous seeing it make the national news and having news reporters excitedly shouting about it.

🙄

HungryLittleCrocodile · 27/08/2024 17:33

Turnitoffitsboring · 27/08/2024 14:14

@Bbq1 I don’t think it’s mainly 60 year olds? They would have been 30 at the time, nothing wrong with that at all, but I imagine the vast majority will be my age-mid 40’s although I think they’ll be a range of ages as kids probably like them too and people in their 30’s would have been kids growing up with it too

This. ^ Stupid bloody hate-filled bigoted ageist nonsense a few people are spouting on here. My DC and several cousins and their DC are hoping to see them. Cousins are early-mid 50s, my DC and my cousins children are 24 to 34.

Sick of the nasty ageist shit aimed at Oasis fans on this thread, and some are downright bigoted and pretty racist comments too! Like 'ewww fat old white men!' Just stop PLEASE! Hmm

You sound hilariously invested in this, and very angry. 😂 What difference does it make to YOUR life if Oasis are getting back together - and touring. Your comments are really unpleasant and rude,

Mumofyellows · 27/08/2024 17:43

I love them, absolute soundtrack of my youth and I've seen them live several times. I'll definitely be trying to get tickets on Saturday. Very glad they have reformed before they are too old to perform as well as they can now! My daughter saw Liam on Friday at Leeds fest and said he was brilliant.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 27/08/2024 18:01

I saw them at Finsbury Park and they were epic Grin I think the Charlatans were support which was just awesome as I had a huge crush on Tim Burgess back in the day. I remember the place was a mud bath and the it rained Confused^ but all was good as I was wearing a denim mini so dried quickly and I remember passing baby wipes down the tube on our way back to the hotel to randoms who were covered in mud.

And this was back in the days when Last Minute.Com first started and we managed to get the most amazing suite in the Dolphin Square Hotel for what a Premier Inn room would probably cost ^

littlebilliie · 27/08/2024 19:47

I give them 2 shows and they will fall out

I agree, if I was going for tickets I'd go for the first couple of shows!

They'll be fighting by technical if they have to spend any time together.

@rainsofcastamere - Oh for gods sake. Stop it. Not everything needs to be over-analysed and deemed offensive. Do you live your life picking fault with every little thing?

No. But this is pretty shit and tone-deaf. Even the BBC have cut the quote to 'The stars have aligned...'

And it's not over-analysing to notice something like this, Ffs.

They must surely have thought about the wording they chose for this? 🙄

Do you think the people of Ukraine or any other war torn region gives a shit about the wording of the Oasis comeback?! They don't. They're too busy being worried about actual real issues. I really wish people would stop being outraged on behalf of other people. What other sayings are 'tone deaf' - is 'take a stab in the dark' okay being that people do in fact get stabbed in the dark?
