For inappropriate behaviour. No further details yet as to what specifically he has allegedly done.

Another one bites the dust.

BrownBirdWelcomesWhiteWave · 22/08/2024 16:36

Helpful to put who he is

The One Show and Match of The Day presenter Jermaine Jenas has been FIRED from the BBC, with immediate effect. “Reports were made of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ and after some immediate routine enquiries the decision was taken to take him off air, and terminate his contract.”

His agent has also dropped him

Simonjt · 22/08/2024 16:39

I wonder how many others there will be, no doubt many in the pipelines who have been protected for a long time.

HRTQueen · 22/08/2024 16:44

So the BBC can act quickly ….

Bizarrely he is currently presenting 'Drive' on Talksport. I guess he (or Talksport) didn't know it was coming otherwise he'd have taken the day off.

Yes, when it's clear cut, though. If there's court cases or whatever going on, or if it's more dubious or lack of evidence, it's impossible to move quickly

Something to do with inappropriate texts apparently

that's good they acted quickly

Alpolonia · 22/08/2024 17:37

FFS. These bloody men. On our television screens too.

CrushingOnRubies · 22/08/2024 17:38

I've never really liked him as a presenter. And don't feel that shocked that he's been sacked somehow.

It's depressingly predicatable, isn't it?

When these people are on their phones or the internet do they never think what might happen if I send this txt, pic etc. If I touch him/her will I lose my nice job in television or radio? I guess they don't/won't/can't stop.

If only their phone or computer said STOP! Do you really want to send this? Common sense would also help but it seems they choose to ignore everything in a Homer Simpson manner.

HelenWheels · 22/08/2024 17:42

was it a twitter thread he posted?

From my direct experience of working at BBCTV for many years, there won't be many left. Especially if they include programme managers who directly influence people's jobs.

LlynTegid · 22/08/2024 17:47

Talksport does not give the impression of wanting high standards in its presenters. After all, it employed Stan Collymore after he had assaulted Ulrika Jonsson several years earlier and has had Joey Barton work for them.

Zimunya · 22/08/2024 17:52

Interesting. I’m all for tough action on inappropriate behaviour, so I’m absolutely not sticking up for him. But intriguing that Jimmy Savill was there for years, when his behaviour was an “open secret” and more recently, Huw Edwards was paid thousands by the BBC long after the allegations were made public - but the person of colour is sacked with immediate effect. Obviously none of us know the full story yet, and there may be good reasons for the differing treatment, but it’s interesting, to say the least.

SprinkleOfSunak · 22/08/2024 17:57

I’m not at all surprised to hear about this. I don’t dislike him, but he’s always seemed a bit slimy to me - just vibes he gives off to me, but have no idea why.

One of my friends has always been convinced Jermaine is gay, not that there’s anything slimy about that, but he’s obviously married to a woman, and I’m wondering if she’s right and something has happened along these lines.

LouisTherouxattheorgy · 22/08/2024 18:07

I'm guessing dick pics.
