For inappropriate behaviour. No further details yet as to what specifically he has allegedly done.

Media saying unsolicited messages to a member of One Show staff. Jenas saying 2 sides to every story. Also won Womens Football Ally of the Year last year. Maybe he was having a carry on with a colleague and he took it too far or she just changed her mind.

But I dont think your employer can sack you for being charged with a crime. Allegations and charges arent proof of anything. In HuwE case, he wasn't being protected, he was being treated as per the terms of his contract.
If I was charged with something, I'd hope my employer didn't sack me on the spot before any verdict was made.
In JJ case, presumably the complainant had more than enough proof of what he did. As with Graz from Strictly.
Edited to add - the BBC are also attempting to recoup the money paid to HE while he was suspended

Edited

Actually you can be dismissed if charged if your employer has reasonable grounds to believe your actions were gross misconduct or brought them into disrepute.

A friend of mine is helping with a case that is going to court in a few months and people involved were sacked.

Here we go with the pointless speculation 🙄

Other people have expressed their opinion and have speculated too in this chat, not just me.

Quirkyme · 22/08/2024 20:33

Yeah maybe. But presumably, as an adult with a great job, with a wife and kids, he knows the difference between a laugh with colleagues and something you could be sacked for.

@Twonewcats damn right, with a wife and family and earning 200k from BBC plus probably some good money from Loreal and whatever other crap adverts he does he should know better. Nobody is untouchable.

They just can’t help themselves, can they ? Pitiful.

Exactly. As others have said, it's never women who get sacked for this sort of inappropriate behaviour.

We all know it's wrong to send inappropriate texts, or be inappropriate in person to colleagues.

Somehow, some men just think they won't be caught, or are above any sort of discipline.

It's male entitlement. Again. As usual.

The sooner the government defund the BBC by abolishing the TV Licence the better! I strongly object to my money being used to fund the abuse of women and children or being used to buy sexually explicit pictures from teenagers.

CoffeeNeededorWine · 22/08/2024 20:57

Thought he was a bit of a wet lettuce TBH. Shocked he even has this about him.

Could be a case of lots of other blokes he knows doing it - and boasting about it / showing him the messages - and him thinking it's just normal behaviour, just something blokes do.

Summersunshine1234 · 22/08/2024 21:07

Why? He had it all! Beautiful wife and children. Great job with career progression and then he messes it all up with inappropriate texts to a female work colleague. I don't get it

There was quite a furore about the football ally award with lots of women working within football questioning exactly what he'd done to justify the award. There wasn't much clarity. His speech mentioned that he had a Mum or something..

So I wouldn't use that as indicative of his character.

Labour won't abolish the TV Licence

PamelaD · 22/08/2024 22:08

Talksport saying he wont be on their shows for the foreseeable.

worriedMiL33 · 22/08/2024 22:26

Cast your mind back to 2003. Allegations were made by a 17 year old woman.

https://www.politics.co.uk/news/2003/10/09/man-arrested-over-football-rape-allegations/

ALLEGEDLY, Jenas was implicated in this incident as was Craig Bellamy, Titus Bramble, Jermain Defoe, Carlton Cole and a couple of others.

Super injunctions were taken out

EsmaCannonball · 22/08/2024 22:36

I remember he was banned from driving a while ago and I thought it was a bit off that The One Show continued to employ him as a presenter because that programme is like one long public information broadcast and it was going to be a bit awkward having a presenter who had been caught speeding and using a phone behind the wheel.

Most men are stupid and have their brain in their dick.

You read about it all the time here.

tobee · 22/08/2024 22:49

And they obviously don't read about it, learn or apply it to themselves 🙄

ClipTap · 22/08/2024 22:53

Radio 4 said he's furious and getting lawyers involved

It's regarding text messages they stated

ClipTap · 22/08/2024 22:55

I suppose he needs to hang on to his Talksport job so has to get lawyers involved

His sacking was announced as he was on air presenting for Talksport

EsmaCannonball · 22/08/2024 23:01

I've just read that the BBC paid him £190 000 a year. This is what I find baffling. He was bland and wooden and never had anything interesting to contribute. Nobody would ever tune into a programme because he was on it. He was utterly replaceable, so why did the BBC consider him such a draw?

ClipTap · 22/08/2024 23:10

They don't need to disclose what he was eating on top of that for The One show at it was a commercial BBC production company

But your money is being used to fund the abuse of women everywhere - the BBC isn't unique in that regard

Always came across as arrogant to me so not surprised tbh. Didn't even know he was an ex footballer. I actually thought he was in his 20s, shocked he's 41!
