For inappropriate behaviour. No further details yet as to what specifically he has allegedly done.

It's such a tragic situation for CH, that it could be either, bless him 😆🤮

I've been trying to think of any women presenters who have done similar?

I believe (although a quick Google failed to find evidence) that in the late 80s or early 90s one of the women presenting Tomorrow's World was sacked.for inappropriate behaviour.

The behaviour in question being compromising her impartiality by appearing in a Fairy Liquid advert.

He's stupid and / or his ego is so stoked he thinks he can get away with anything.

Like lots of men.

I wonder if any man has started a thread about this and saying they are so sick of men's behaviour ??

And females need to take responsibility too.

Having a friend who works for a premiership club, ‘snaring’ a footballer is real. Tracking them down, following them to particular clubs, making contact, all to try and be a WAG or to marry money.

Get some respect.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 23/08/2024 15:14

It’s all Michael McIntyre’s fault 😆

Could you clarify what this has to do with JJ being sacked for inappropriate workplace behaviour? Thanks.

I suppose some people are saying it's somehow a woman's fault he did whatever he did and then been caught out. No change there then
🙄

i’m uncomfortable with trial by media. No matter how true any of it is he’s finished now.

ChrissyWaddle · 23/08/2024 18:59

He may well bounce back. Whats a dick pic between friends. Talksport emply all sorts of wrong uns.

SheilaFentiman · 23/08/2024 19:05

Soooo many men’s careers have been far from “finished” by sexual crimes, let alone workplace misconduct allegations, @FlappingMadly

The BBC had to say something as to why he had been removed from presenting things. They made a pretty brief statement. Ultimately, they are an employer and are obliged to maintain a workplace free of harassment.

As often happens - see eg Russell Brand - when women realise they weren’t the only one, they come forward too.

How else do you think this should have been done?

SSpratt · 23/08/2024 19:17

These men don’t tend to send photos of a finger! That was definitely a (small) dick pic from CH. I will wait to hear what JJ sent before I make judgement on him. As presenters go, he was ok, typically bland as one show presenters tend to be.

FlappingMadly · 23/08/2024 19:19

I don’t think they should say anything until trial. Yes I understand more women step forward when they feel safe to do so but do we know what he did and in what context?

Boysgrownbutstillathome · 23/08/2024 19:34

I really like him, this has shocked me.

Eh? There won’t be a trial, unless one of the women involved reports it to the police and they consider it to be a crime worth prosecuting.

The BBC has fired him. So again: what should they have said differently?

You may never hear what JJ has sent. Just as if the manager of your local coop is fired for taking home a few boxes of chocolates, neither the coop nor the manager is obliged to put up a poster explaining. It’s an employment matter.

They could terminate his contract and say there was a difference of opinion. To say he harassed without details is unfair.

You can’t fire someone for a difference of opinion. There are a few standard reasons for immediate termination (gross misconduct, fraud etc) and that isn’t one of them

midlifeattheoasis · 23/08/2024 20:06

I'm so pleased about this. Although he should have been sacked a long time for being quite possibly the dullest presenter on TV

SheilaFentiman · 23/08/2024 20:09

This is from the BBC site:

Jermaine Jenas, who presented The One Show and appeared on Match of the Day for the BBC, has been sacked by the corporation following complaints about workplace conduct.
The former footballer, 41, has been taken off air from both primetime shows.
BBC News understands his contract was terminated this week because of alleged issues relating to workplace behaviour.
Responding to the news, Jenas said there were "two sides to every story" but he would let his "lawyers deal with it".
The allegations involve digital communications including texts, which were raised with the corporation a few weeks ago.

The BBC have NOT said “he harassed” - they have said very little.

I wonder how many others there will be, no doubt many in the pipelines who have been protected for a long time.

He hasn't been protected. Rumour monger.

SprinkleOfSunak · 22/08/2024 17:57

I’m not at all surprised to hear about this. I don’t dislike him, but he’s always seemed a bit slimy to me - just vibes he gives off to me, but have no idea why.

One of my friends has always been convinced Jermaine is gay, not that there’s anything slimy about that, but he’s obviously married to a woman, and I’m wondering if she’s right and something has happened along these lines.

I hope to God you never sit on a jury.

Me too, I’d be bored stiff!

I am however very intuitive, and I can read people well, and it rarely fails me.
