For inappropriate behaviour. No further details yet as to what specifically he has allegedly done.

He wasn't that important as a presenter as he just worked in a revolving team who seem to be on the One Show and the other similar show that BBC runs in the mornings so easily replaceable. I guess they had the evidence so probably very easy to sack for gross misconduct.

The chat is that he was one of the frontrunners for MOTD when Lineker gave it up.

Well.... whatever he's being g accused of, I highly doubt it will be anywhere near what Huw did.

BBC News reported his contract was terminated earlier this week due to alleged issues relating to workplace behaviour.

It also reported the termination followed allegations involving digital communications, such as texts, which were raised with the corporation a few weeks ago.

His contract was terminated because of his behaviour in the workplace. Therefore the provider of the workplace, his employer, can use that as a reason to fire him (though I think he is challenging). That's not an uncommon employment clause.

It's not uncommon for an employment contract to say that a person will be suspending pending the outcome of criminal proceedings in the event of a criminal trial, and presumably that is what happened with HE.

I imagine that 'big talent' at the BBC all have bespoke contracts. The BBC's lawyers will want the contracts to be followed.

Maybe that's what he thought

Blackhorse32 · 23/08/2024 12:18

It should not be compared to HE. HE was charged with a crime but it is hard to do anything until they are found guilty. When police are involved there may also be restrictions on when an employer can do their investigation. The priority has to be the police investigation and an employer can not act if it would hinder this. Once he plead guilty then the process is easier.

JJ is likely to have been an internal investigation and therefore easier for the BBC to investigate and progress to dismissal.

SheilaFentiman · 23/08/2024 12:25

Also, it sounds as if the BBC has seen the evidence for itself eg other employees have shown texts received from JJ to HR.

Clearly the Beeb would not have seen the texts or other evidence in the Huw E case as the CPS was building that case.

Offredismysister · 23/08/2024 09:11

Where’s the evidence of that? Have they been in the news?

Are you talking about JJ or someone else?

AnnaMagnani · 23/08/2024 12:39

Even my DH who knows nothing about celebrities or TV told me Jenas was being geared up for MOTD.

Apparently Gary Lineker has mentioned him as a potential successor.

Bilbonne · 23/08/2024 11:54

Nope, many many people thought.

And if JJ thought he was too, then wtf would he STILL think it was OK to send inappropriate sacking-worthy texts??

When these people are on their phones or the internet do they never think what might happen if I send this txt, pic etc. If I touch him/her will I lose my nice job in television or radio? I guess they don't/won't/can't stop.

I do wonder what their thought processes are to make them send dodgy messages. When they’re famous, surely they’d hesitate to send anything written. Even using the one view on WhatsApp isn’t safe, it can presumably be screenshot. Very poor judgement when he’s in an easily destroyed position. Idiot.

Oblomov24 · 23/08/2024 12:46

Wonder what the details are?

Oblomov24 · 23/08/2024 12:53

'unsolicited texts' to a female member of the one show team?

'Flirty texts'

Hmm.

Twonewcats · 23/08/2024 12:57

I just read a comment on X saying something along the lines of "JJ got sacked for being a heterosexual". Wtf is wrong with people?? 😤

So the BBC can act quickly ….

When it's not a criminal case that hasn't gone to trial, yes they can.

AChattyLady · 23/08/2024 13:03

Its a shocking syory and perhaps theres more going on as we dont hear anything from either side yet judt the rumour. Either way he is sacked by management and employers at The One Show so somethings out. Im suprised its females.
I've long heard rumours he is gay and perhaps maybe he has just had a setup that is beneficial to both him and his partner.
He may use that to hide his sexuality.I just wouldn't be suprised if it's not just women at the very least

Perhaps he has had a liason of sorts but is not in a real relationship with his wife, it's commonplace in celeb circles remember Philip Schofield.
Maybe he was single, perhaps photos have got out and it's all mixed up stories with some truth and some rumour.

But for sure he has done some wrong things which will damage the BBC as if it needs more scandal.

Hopefully he is going to make an announcement soon so he can have his side and stop the speculation. He certainly needs to be truthful. His whole public career will be over if he continues to lie or coverup things.

SheilaFentiman · 23/08/2024 13:09

wow, @AChattyLady , I think you got through all the speculation in a few paragraphs.

He has stated he is taking legal advice - I would be very surprised if he makes an announcement 'which stops the speculation' until his lawyers and the Beeb's lawyers have got in a room. At which point, there may or may not be a settlement and an NDA.

Talksport does not give the impression of wanting high standards in its presenters. After all, it employed Stan Collymore after he had assaulted Ulrika Jonsson several years earlier and has had Joey Barton work for them.

And Trevor Sinclair the racist

SoManyBadgers · 23/08/2024 13:31

The curse of The One Show strikes again. I remember how Jason Manford's career was temporarily stalled by inappropriate communications during his time fronting it, but it doesn't seem to have tarnished his mr nice guy family man image in the long run- other than to those of us with good memories 🤢

HRTQueen · 23/08/2024 13:46

Hatfullofwillow · 23/08/2024 12:59

When it's not a criminal case that hasn't gone to trial, yes they can.

They could have acted quicker before but they choose to protect their most valued presenter, they ignored raised concerns, seemed confused in what they were and not aware of and then it transpires they knew what HE had been arrested for decided he should be still given a pay rise.

The BBC have acted disgracefully and senior management need to answer questions. Asking for money back (what a fucking joke the man is not a person who gives a fuck) and now a display of taking action quickly will not repair the damage its ingrained in the BBC culture

crumblingschools · 23/08/2024 13:48

@HRTQueen you do have to be careful under employment law.

Well if thats true then thank goodness he's gone as he was beyond tedious. Im no fan of Linekar but at least he has personality.

Yes well said. I suppose it was dirty flirty banter with a fan so not necessarily unwarranted. It was more the fact it was morally dubious. Didnt stop him swiftly being back on the BBC main stage singing and now presenting a rather rubbish game show where his jokes sail close to the wind.

FuckThePoPo · 23/08/2024 14:27

Too bad Christian Horner wasn't terminated immediately for sending the most boring sex texts I've ever seen

Offredismysister · 23/08/2024 14:30

crockofshite · 23/08/2024 12:36

Apparently hes from a notorious crime family from Nottingham.
Who knew? 🤣
