It's so depressing. It's been dark for hours, now pissing down. Again.

Haven't worn any summer clothes
Haven't had a bbq / sat out in the garden
No paddling pool out
It's not cold it's just damp and humid

It's shite and I'm over it.

Rant over.

YANBU, but wait for the human slugs to turn up and say some things about puddle suits and ‘sweating at night in anything over 10 degrees’

Scentedjasmin · 15/07/2024 20:16

I really feel you today OP. Today has been particularly gloomy!

eggplant16 · 15/07/2024 20:17

Its seriously getting to me. I suffer with SAD. This is the absolute pits.
I was thinking of a coupe of days away but whats the point?

IClaudine · 15/07/2024 20:19

It's supposed to brighten up here tomorrow, but I am not pinning my hopes on it!

longdistanceclaraclara · 15/07/2024 20:20

Thankfully I have a couple of weeks away soon but this is just horrible. I remember a 'summer' like this growing up maybe around 87, my parents put down a new patio as family were over and they wanted to show off. Didn't get used at all that year.

It's grim. I arrived home after work to a plethora of big black slugs all over my front garden enjoying the rain! Feckers!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 15/07/2024 20:21

Absolutely sick of it, constantly pissing it down here. Have had to buy an anorak in fucking July!

Dearg · 15/07/2024 20:21

Had to put the heating on yesterday. Actually thought about packing up my summer clothes and getting my jumpers out ( Scotland). Been looking at the sales , and all I want is a new rain jacket for walking dogs.🙄

mitogoshi · 15/07/2024 20:21

Was lovely yesterday and it's brightening right up now, certainly not dark.

Bohomovies · 15/07/2024 20:22

Kindly, OP, just pull yourself together and snuggle under a blanket with a hot choc.

Just kidding.

It’s driving me mad as well. It’ll be autumn soon. That thought depresses me.

abracadabra1980 · 15/07/2024 20:22

Yep it's basically rained here for 18 months apart from June last year. I amuse myself looking at properties in France for hours...

devildeepbluesea · 15/07/2024 20:22

I angry-booked a holiday a few weeks ago. We leave a week tomorrow. I’m so glad I did, even if I can’t afford it 🤣

cantwait4orsummer · 15/07/2024 20:22

It's really sad summer, i feel depressed looking outside

OMGitsnotgood · 15/07/2024 20:23

It was gorgeous here this morning, I did 3 loads of washing and some gardening. Then the rain came and it's quite chilly now

JulietSierra · 15/07/2024 20:23

Today’s been the first day in ages that we’ve had sun here in the North East. It’s been grim all weekend but has been really pleasant today, it’s unbelievable how much better I feel after seeing the sun for a few hours!

TeenLifeMum · 15/07/2024 20:24

I’ve never understood SADS until this year. The sun really boosts my mood. I’m going on holiday on Monday and that’s the only thing keeping me going. So glad we’re not a family that holidays in the UK or I’d be unbearable to live with right now!

Whinge · 15/07/2024 20:24

YANBU, it's shit!

Is it too much to ask for some nice weather in summer? Sad

I also feel sorry for all those who rely on summer events to fundraise, as so many of them have been cancelled or cut short due to this shit weather.

FluffyJellyCat · 15/07/2024 20:25

I could do with even a dry cold day to get my washing dry. Wishing I hadn't wasted money on the kids summer clothes this year that's for sure. I think there's a storm rolling in as the TV signal is on the blink too

Titsywoo · 15/07/2024 20:25

It's rubbish and I'm seriously fed up of it. Even when we do get a bit of sunshine it doesn't last longer than 2 or 3 days then it is back to gloom and rain. I only ever get ill in winter and I've got covid now.

I do feel like I might end up a bit depressed over winter without a decent stint of sun (no holiday abroad this year).

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/07/2024 20:25

This is week three of our school holidays (Scotland) and it has been utterly shite. Temps about 15 degrees, rain, wind, just awful. A good day is one where you wear a cardigan or a jacket to go out, not both.

Overtheatlantic · 15/07/2024 20:27

We’re in Amsterdam which is gorgeous this week. Luck of the draw but shows that you don’t have to go far out of the uk to find warmth. Best bet is Central Europe.

That makes me feel even more depressed!

Andtheworldwentwhite · 15/07/2024 20:28

@devildeepbluesea i did exactly the same. And somewhere really hot. Where I will complain that it is too hot but I don’t care.

I spent a lot of money on the garden and new garden furniture in the spring and have used them once.
