Bit of a quirky house in Hampstead…

Do the owners just like books or is this an attempt at a Tracey Emin unmade bed art installation look with random books piled up instead.

God that's gorgeous.

Do you think so ? I’m a bit meh about it. Just doesn’t gel.

I love it but the price! Even for London. And I don't like the idea of going onto the 2nd floor to do my laundry. But maybe if I could afford that house, I could afford a servant to do it for me 😆

What a beautiful house.

I love it.

i do think the book piles are a bit odd though.

I thought that! I knew it would be expensive in Hampstead but £22m!

theDudesmummy · 26/04/2024 09:36

I love the house but not the decor. Hate the piled books. It's not in Hampstead.

RaisinRainbow · 26/04/2024 09:38

Money can't buy taste 😂

Bluevelvetsofa · 26/04/2024 09:39

You can have my 4 bed house for the spare £500,000!

WittiestUsernameEver · 26/04/2024 09:39

Do you think the second floor is supposed to be like a teenage/lodger/housekeeper living area area or something? Why is there a kitchen and utility room there?

ha ha yes- that's what the second floor is four - the live in nanny/housekeeper me thinks.

theDudesmummy · 26/04/2024 09:40

It would probably cost even more if it was in Hampstead!

AmaryllisChorus · 26/04/2024 09:40

I like it but not for that price - blimey! That looks like it might be an original Anish Kapoor on the wall. I wouldn't have that all over Rightmove.

The book piles are pretentious. Anyone who reads books wants easy access to them, spines out, in some sort of order, not tottering piles.

senua · 26/04/2024 09:41

EPC = D Shock

Agree that the second floor is for the housekeeper. They need someone to clean the six bathrooms!

HobnobsChoice · 26/04/2024 09:42

Never mind the books, the coffee table with all the nicknacks is giving me serious anxiety. What is something gets knocked over

Naptimeagain · 26/04/2024 09:45

Book piles making my teeth itch. But what a house!

That's what I thought, too. Although I admit that my TBR list is a tottering pile.

But on second thoughts, I think the tottering piles are actually an Art Installation.

FindingMeno · 26/04/2024 09:46

It confuses my brain and doesn't look like there is any real comfort.

blackcherryconserve · 26/04/2024 09:48

Gorgeous house (in St John's Wood which is near Regent's Park, down the road from Hampstead). Not a fan of the internal decoration nor the way the books are piled up higgledy piggledy but it could be stunning.

Me too! It's more like a display table than an actual coffee table. But with all that space you could probably fit another one in 😁.

I always wonder why people sell these type of houses. I guess it's usually one of several they own and "downsizing" is shedding a couple of homes.

Mercurial123 · 26/04/2024 09:52

It's a beautiful house. Who cares about the books they don't come with the property.

LightDrizzle · 26/04/2024 09:54

I love it! I would put the books on the shelves up properly though.

The coffee table is too cluttered for me but I kind of admire them for it. It’s a wonderland to explore.

They have some stunning artwork and furniture. It has some personality.

Glitterbiscuits · 26/04/2024 09:54

Wow!

But really...how much? Is it a misprint?

ToBeOrNotToBee · 26/04/2024 09:55

Given the lack of dust and general grime, it's definitely intentional rather than slobbish living.

Gorgeous house. And that bath!!!

Horrific AstroTurf in the garden.
